Mr.
Loyd A. Payne, age 83, of Winchester, Kentucky, formerly of
Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Sunday, November 1, 1998 in Thompson-Hood
Veteran’s center
Hospital in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Mr. Payne
was born in Union County, on Friday, May 7, 1915, a son of the late
Alfred
Payne and Georgia Cook Payne. He was a
US Army veteran of World War II, and had worked in the Civilian
Conservation
Crops. Mr. Payne retired after 230 years
of service with the US Forestry Service.
He was a member and deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Payne had lived his last three years in
Kentucky at the home of his son.
Surviving are
his wife, Effie Rich Payne, of Winchester, KY; son and daughter-in-law,
Lanier
and Joan Kimsey Payne, of Winchester; and grandson, Eric Payne, also of
Winchester. Many friends and family also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, November 4, 198 at 11
a.m. from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Coleman
officiating. Special music was presented
by Odena Gibson
and The Sunday Night Singing Class. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Truett Brackett Presley
Rich, Eric
Payne, Wayne Roberts, Homer Powell and Melvin Emerson.
Interment was in Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Pauline Lunsford Pruitt, age 70, of Atlanta passed away Monday,
November 2,
1998 at her home.
Mrs. Pruitt
was born in Union County where she lived the first 30 years of her life
and
then lived in Atlanta. She was of
Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and
Maggie Woody
Lunsford of Suches.
Survivors
include her husband, Robert Lee Pruitt, Chamblee; son, Dr. Don Pruitt,
Suches;
daughters and son in laws, Gayle and Dave Bass, Judy and Stan Stover,
all of
Cleveland, Joy and Larry Barker, Gainesville; Dale and John Waggoner,
Decatur:
Robyn and Richard Giadrosoch, Jonesboro; duaghters, Susan King,
Decatur, Sherry
Hudson, Marietta; sisters, Hattie Lou Fortner, Bertie Mae Davis, both
of
Gainesville; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mr.
William Hershel Gilreath, age 84, of Suches, Georgia, passed away
Sunday,
November 1, 1998 at the Gold City Health Care Center in Dahlonega
following an
extended illness. Mr. Gilreath was a
native and lifelong resident of Union County, was a retired maintenance
worker
with the US Forest Service, and was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Blanche
Gilreath, Suches, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law; Geraldine and Bob
Carder,
Dahlonega, GA; brother and sister-in-law: Carl and Eldine Gilreath,
Suches, GA;
sister and brother-in-law: Nora and Rev. Wilke Sullens, Gainesville,
GA;
brother-in-law: Edward Brooksher, Suches, GA.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m.
Tuesday, November3, 1998 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Tim
Hicks and Rev. J.W. Helton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church

Mr.
Benjamin David Voshall, age 68, of Blairsville, GA, passed away
Saturday,
October 31, 1998. Mr. Voshall was a
celebrated jazz trumpet player, was a big band leader in Europe and
America. He influenced many young
musicians and
enjoyed Dixieland and the music of the swing era throughout his life. In May of 1952, Mr. Voshall married Mary Lou
Bright. After retirement they traveled
extensively throughout the US enjoying all areas of the country in
their
recreation vehicle while meeting many great friends along the way. After all the travel they felt a particular
kinship with the North Georgia community of Blairsville, settling in
their
mountain log cabin home. R. Voshall is
survived by his wife Mary Lou, children, Thom D. Voshall, Woodstock,
GA; Karen
L. Voshall, Cuming, GA; Glenda M. Dzuba, Dawsonville, GA; J. Robert
Voshall
Alabaster, AL; and deceased son, Benjamin L. Voshall.
Memorial services were held on November 4,
1998 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception at the First United Methodist
Church of
Union County, 359 Hwy 515, Blairsville, Georgia 30512.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request that
donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of union County
for the
Dave Voshall Music Memorial Fund.

Mr.
Junior Howard Kinsey, age 62, of Pine Top Road, Blairsville, Georgia,
passed
away Thursday, November 5, 1998 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in
Gainesville, Georgia, following a brief illness. A
native of White County, Mr. Kinsey has
lived in Forsyth County for a number of years before moving to
Blairsville. He was retired from swift
and company. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Clifford and Inez Kinsey and his Father in Law, Otis Nix. He attended Christian Family Worship Center.
Surviving are
his wife, Eula Rae Kinsey of Blairsville; step mother Ruby Kinsey, of
Cleveland, GA; son and daughter in law, Kenneth and Angie Kinsey, of
Ellijay;
daughter and son in law, Vivian and Kenneth Ray Payne of Cumming;
brother and
sister in law, Calvin and Clara Ruth Kinsey, of Cleveland; sister and
brother
in law, Hazel and Frank Dills, Cumming; mother in law, Minnie Nix;
brother in
law and sister in law, Harold and Ann Nix of Dawsonville; brother in
law and sister
