Mr. Jimmy
Cook, age 84, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008
at
Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee, GA.
Mr. Cook was born Friday, March 21, 1924 in Polk County, TN, to
the late
William Andrew Cook and the late Narcie Alice Pickelsimer Cook. Mr. Cook proudly served our country in the
U.S. Army during World War II, in Germany, under General Patton. Jimmy was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church, The American legion, Disabled American Veterans, North Georgia
Honor
Guard, national Riflemans Association, and had been a licensed Baptist
Minister
since 1968.
He was
preceded in death by first wife, Maebell Harkins Cook; son, William
Clyde Cook;
son, Jerry Cook; and granddaughter, Madison Michelle Riccatello;
brothers, N.A.
Cook and Edward Cook and sister, Julie Deyton.
Surviving
family members include his wife, Myrtle Carver Cook of Blairsville;
daughter,
Mollie Louise Brown, of Marietta, GA; son, James H. Cook, of
Blairsville; son,
Clifford earl Cook, of Braselton, GA; and daughter, Mabel Jean page,
also of
Braselton; sisters: Lucille Sisson and Maude Harkins, both of
Lawrenceville,
GA; Annie Belle Grisson, of Blairsville; and Lillie Ann Criswell, of
Ellijay,
GA; two brothers: Wilburn Cook and David Cook, both of Lawrenceville,
GA;
numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, from the
Chapel
of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with the Chaplain of North
Georgia
Honor Guard, Bob Huggins, officiating.
Members of North Georgia Honor Guard presented Military Honors. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: James Cook, Jimmy Cook, Bucky Cook, Casey Brown, Tim
Brown, and
Kenneth Brown. The following gentlemen
served as honorary escort: Larry Moon and Vernon Cook.
Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Baptist
Church cemetery in Blairsville.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, on
Wednesday.

Mr.
Willie
Walter Murphy, age 86 of Pat Colwell Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Monday,
Nov. 3, 2008 in the Erlanger Medical center following injuries received
in an
automobile accident. Mr. Murphy was born
on April 30 1922 in Cherokee county, NC, the son of the late Luther
Murphy and
the late Hattie Roberts Murphy. He was a
lifelong resident of Union County.
Willie was a loving husband, father, step father, grandfather
and great
grandfather. He loved to sing and play
the guitar and harmonica. He was a
wonderful friend to all who knew him. He
was preceded in death by his first wife of sixty years, Minnie Lou
Murphy, an
infant son, Jerry Murphy, two brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Murphy was a member and Deacon of Jones
Creek Church of God.
Surviving
Mr. Murphy are his loving wife of four years, Doris Bell Murphy of
Blairsville,
two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Edith Murphy of Blairsville,
Bud and
Diane Murphy of Blairsville, three step daughters and two sons-in-law,
Carol
gray of Blairsville, Brenda and Roy Lynch of Murphy, Michele and Dale
Christopher
of Graysville, TN, two step sons, Danny and John Mark Payne, both of
Blairsville, four grandchildren, Shane, Daniel, Steven and Lydia
Murphy, two
great grandchildren, Taylor Michelle and Kane Eli Murphy, several step
grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 from the funeral home
chapel with
the Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.
Special music was presented by Tommy Murphy,
Sara Wilson and Michele Christopher. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Shane, Steven and Daniel
Murphy,
Danny Payne, David Stiles and Mike Krigline.
Interment followed in the Providence Methodist Church Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mr.
Michael
Forrest Pearman, age 63 of Old River Mill Rd., Blairsville and also Fox
Hollow
Ln., Bradenton, FL, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 in the Union
General
Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Pearman was born on Aug. 31, 1945 in Charleston, WV, the son
of the
late Frank Bently Pearman and the late Barbara Ann Carney Pearman. Michael was a loving husband, father,
grandfather and also a friend to all. He
loved to fish and just sit and watch the
river. He had a great sense of humor. Michael will be greatly missed by his family
and all who knew him. He was preceded in
death by a brother, David Pearman. Mr.
Pearman was a member of Grace Methodist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Pearman are his loving wife Lou Pearman of Blairsville and
Bradenton, four
daughters and three sons-in-law, Amy and Matt Brown, Beth and Chris
Rogers all
of Bradenton, Christina and Michael Adams of Bluffton, SC, Jessica
Michael
Pearman of Bradenton, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Doug and
Lugene
Pearman, Gary Pearman all of Bradenton, five grandchildren, Michael,
Landon,
Cameron, Brycen and Ashton, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Services
will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the
Griffith-Cline
funeral home in Bradenton. In lieu of
flowers if you wish, the family suggests that memorials may be made to
the
American Lung Association in memory of Mr. Pearman.

Kermit
G. Foster, age 80, of Irondale, AL, passed away Monday, November 3,
2008 at his
home.
He was a
native of Union County, GA and the son of the late Lewis Parker and
Willie
Marie Galloway Foster. He was a retired
home improvement salesman and a member of the Overton First Baptist
Church of
Irondale, AL. He was preceded in death
by a daughter, Doris Evelyn Foster; a brother, Kenneth Foster and three
sisters,
Carmen, Evelyn and Celia Foster.
He is
survived by his wife, Caroline Ann Tilson Foster; five sons, Kent
Foster and
his wife Debbie of Mineral Bluff, GA, Kevin Foster and his wife,
Stephanie of
Rutledge, TN, Kenny Foster and his wife, Barbara of Kokomo, IN, Greg
(Butch)
Foster and his wife Sherrie of Cleveland, AL, and Kerry Foster and his
wife,
Elizabeth of Birmingham, AL; two daughters, Karen Smithson and her
husband,
William of Clearwater, FL, and Kimberly Wade and her husband, Charles
of Peachtree
City, GA; three brothers, Keith Foster, Keiter Foster and Kendall
Foster all of
Blairsville, GA; three sisters, Regina Patterson, Reba Sosebee and
Renette
Foster all of Blairsville, GA; 15 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held at 11 AM, Friday, November 7, 2008 at the
Townson-Rose
Funeral home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev.
Ray Harper and Rev. Avery Beaver officiated.
Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Baptist church Cemetery in
Blairsville, GA.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Justin
Foster, Joseph Foster, Jesse Mashburn, Mitchell Carreiro, Clayton
Foster and
Jeremiah Mashburn. Honorary pallbearers
were grandchildren, Courtney Foster, Randi Foster, Whitney Foster, Amy
Foster,
Kelli Wade, Skyler Foster, Blake Foster, Brook Wade and Sophia Foster.
The family
received friends on Thursday, November 6, 2008 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the
Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC.
