Larry
Willey age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 5,
1997.
Mr.
Willey was born in Sussex County, Delaware, on July 23,
1921, s son of the late Nehemiah Willey and Anna Harris Willey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force,
and served during World War II. Mr.
Willey was a former POW. He had lived in
this are (sic) since 1986, coming here from Ft. Pierce, Florida, and
was a
member of Coosa Methodist Church. Mr.
Willey was a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge, #114, and was a Shriner. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lucy
Willey, in 1990.
Surviving
are his daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Harrison Bradley, of
Blairsville;
son and daughter-in-law, Larry E. and Cindy Willey, of Woodstock, GA.;
grandchildren, Melanie Bradley and James Bradley, both of Blairsville,
and
Samantha and Heather Willey, both of Woodstock.
Funeral
services were held Friday, November 7, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Coosa
Methodist
Church with Rev. Earl Bishop officiating.
Special music was presented by John Gurley, Ida Lou Bishop, Dale
and
Diane Spivey, Daphyne Spivey, and Sheila Weber.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Terry Rogers, Lamar Paris, John Gurley, Ray
Parson, Scrap Wheeler and Eddie Enus. Interment
was in Union memory Gardens Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites
presented by
members of Allegheny Masonic Lodge. If
you wish, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Fund,
Shriner’s Burn Center or to The Wilderness Scouts.

Miller, age 56, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October
29,
1997.
Mr.
Miller was born in Cherokee County, North Carolina on
May 27, 1941 a son of the late Reuben Miller and Hazel Plott Miller. He was a lifelong resident of this area, and
a member and deacon of Union Baptist Church.
Mr. Miller also served as the Sunday School Superintendent there. He was a member of Youngcane Masonic
Lodge. Preceding him in death was his
son, Lonnie Miller, who died On June 6th, 1995.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Doris Hood Miller of Blairsville; daughter Sheila
Miller;
daughter and son-in-law, Gina Miller Thompson and Perry Thompson;
daughter-in-law Tammy Miller Hughes; nieces, Audrey Davis Lovell and
Katherine
Davis, all of Blairsville; brothers, Bill Miller of DelRoy, Ohio and Gene Miller
and Max Miller of
Ohio; sisters, Barbara Downs also of Ohio; grandchildren Jessica
Miller, Calen
Thompson and Ashley Thompson. Several
nieces and nephews in Ohio also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, November 1, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Union
Baptist
Church with Rev. Benny Nix officiating. Special
music was presented by the Trackrock Quartet.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Perry Thompson,
Jeff
Burks, Greg Fortenberry, Roger Cobb, Darren Rowan, and David Atkins. The following gentlemen served as honorary
escort to the family: Buddy Rowan, Chris Fortenberry, Craig Davenport
and Tommy
Jones. Interment was in Union Baptist
Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Service presented by members of
Youngcane Masonic Lodge.

Eugene
Chapman Hood, age, 69 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday,
November 7,
1997.
Mr. Hood
was born in Union County, Georgia, on June 13 1928 a son of the
late Rev. Jim Hood and Ollie Ruth Sexton Hood.
He was a lifelong resident of Union County and was a member of
Union
Baptist Church.
Surviving
are his wife, Lavada Hood, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law,
Calvin E.
and Kathy Hood, of Blairsville; and his son, Max Eric Hood of
Blairsville; brothers,
Bryon and Homer Hood both of Blairsville, George Hood of Cleveland,
GA.;
sisters, bertha McClain of Toccoa, GA., Clara Jane Burnette, of Suches,
GA.,
and Pauline Berry of Gainesville, GA.; grandchildren, Melissa Hood,
Brandon
Hood, Any Hood and Jacob
Willis also survive.

services were held Sunday, November 9, 197 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of

Funeral Home with Rev. Stacey Dyer officiating.

Marion
Barton, age 80, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November
4, 1997.
Mrs.
Barton was born in New Haven County, Connecticut on
December 4, 1916, a daughter of the late Ralph Holabird and Carrie
Thorpe
Holabird. She was a member of First
United Methodist Church of Union County.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert J. Barton in
1995; her
sisters, Mary Brinton and Shirley Murphy, and her brothers, Richard,
Donald,
and Marshall Barton.
Surviving
are her daughter, Susan H. Baron of Blairsville; son, Ken H. Barton of
Young
Harris, GA. And his fiancee, (sic) Melanie Bridges of Young Harris;
sister,
Georgia Cole of West Haven, Connecticut; two grandchildren and two
great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, November 8, 1997 at 11 a.m. from First
United
Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Darby officiating.
Special music was presented by the First
Methodist Church Choir. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Ronald Taylor, Paul Colditz, Marvin
Hernden,
Alex Davita, Tommy Rogers, and Ed Wiley.
Interment was in Union memory Gardens Cemetery.
