robert lee rogers


Mr. Robert Lee Rogers, age 75, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Union General Hospital.

Mr. Rogers was born Wednesday, March 16, 1927, in Union County, a son of the late Thomas Franklin and Jessie (Teague) Rogers.  He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, a retired engineer with the Georgia Dept. of Transportation, a 50 year plus member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114 F&AM, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County.

Survivors include: sisters, Ruby R. Collins of Blairsville, GA, Mary Sue Saunders of Charlotte, NC and Johnnie Lumsden of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Sheila Griffis, Robert Neal Collins, Jr., Rehnee Dyer, Joseph Rogers Collins, Curtis Saunders, Mary Ruth Saunders and Charles Saunders; great nieces and nephews, Lee Dyer, Jessica Ashley Collins, Nicholas Dyer, Christina Victoria Collins, Joseph Alex Collins, Emma Grace Collins, Emily Saunders, Kenedi Griffis and McKena Griffis.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville with Rev. Dick Stillwell and Rev. B.A. Buchanan officiating.  Music was by Michelle Collins. Pallbearers were Larry Dyer, Eric England, Bud Akins, Bill Drake, Carlton Colwell and Jack Kelley.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites by Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114 F&AM. 

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of the arrangements.

kenneth eugene wright


Mr. Kenneth Eugene Wright, age 68, of Rawlins, WY, formerly of Union County passed away on Nov. 3, 2002 in the S. Central Wyoming Healthcare Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Wright was born on Aug. 26, 1934 in Union County, the son of the late Joseph Kenneth Wright and the late Pearl Shields Wright.  Mr. Wright was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Wright are his loving wife of forty four years, Rita Lackey Wright of Rawlins, WY; one daughter and son in law, Deborah and David ward of Rawlins; one son, David Wright of Rawlins; two brothers and sister in laws, Mark and Jane Wright of Blairsville, W.H. and Sue Wright of Ranger, GA; two grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Ward both of Rawlins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating.  Special music was presented by the Faith Singers and Cindy Whitmore.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Mark Ward, Matthew Ward, Gary Lackey, Bruce Lackey, Donald Lackey, Carl Hilton and Harold Thrasher.  Interment followed in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
