Mrs.
Della Mae Corn, 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,
November 4,
1996 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Corn
was born in Union County, Georgia, on May 1, 1911,
a daughter of the late George Cavender and Eliza Jane Pickelsimer
Cavender. She had lived in this area for
all of her life
and was a homemaker. Mrs. Corn was a
member of Owltown Church of God. She was
the widow of the late John c. Corn.
Surviving
are her daughter and son in law, Mattie Belle and Wayne Chappelear, of
Roswell,
GA; son and daughter in law, John W. and Carolyn Corn, of Toccoa, GA;
son and
daughter in law, William H. and Donna Corn, of Hayesville, NC; daughter
and son
in law, Althea C. and Nelson Pickelsimer, of Blairsville; step
daughter, Ruby
Hooper, of Blairsville; step son, Roy Corn, of Blairsville; and step
daughter,
Georgia Hooper, also of Blairsville; sister, Laura Bowers, of
Blairsville; five
grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren also survive along with
several
step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, November 6, 1996 at 11 a.m. from New
Harmony
Baptist Church with Rev. B. A. Buchanan and Rev. Horace Potts
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Nelson Pickelsimer, Gary
Chappelear, David Corn, Curtis Corn, Kenny Duckworth, and Jason Beavers. Interment was in the Church Cemetery.

arrangements.

Mr.
Patrick
W. Starr, Sr. of Suches, Georgia passed away in Upson county
(sic) Hospital in Thomaston, GA.
Mr. Starr
was a retired self employed Electrician.
Surviving
are his wife, Janelle Starr of Suches, GA; daughter, Deborah Lynn
Daniel of
Forsyth, GA; son, Patrick W. Starr, Jr., McDonough, GA; sisters:
Barbara Owen,
Montgomery, AL; Jane Jenkins, Snellville, GA; brother, Sam Starr, Blue
Ridge,
GA; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 1 nephew also
survive.
Services
were held November 7th, 1996 at 2 p.m. at Parkway Garden Chapel in
Forest Park,
GA. Rev. Doyle Oliver officiated. Interment was at Forest Hills Memorial
Gardens, Forest Park, GA.

the arrangements.

Mrs.
Frankie Wimpey Lance, 88, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Wednesday,
November 6, 1996.
Mrs.
Lance was born February 28, 1908, in Union County,
Georgia, a daughter of the late Arch Wimpey and Miranda Souther Wimpey. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident
of this area. Mrs. Lance was a member of
Old Liberty Baptist Church. Preceding
her in death was a daughter, Doris Mae Lance, in 1935, and her husband,
Homer
E. Lance, in 1969.
Surviving
are daughter, Ann Lance Jones of Murrayville, Georgia; and son, Jerry
Lance, of
Blairsville; sisters, Ada Plott and Cornelia Seabolt, both of
Blairsville;
brothers, Everett Wimpey and a. J. Wimpey, both of Blairsville; two
grandchildren and their spouses, Vicki and Darren Copeland of
Murrayville, and
Teresa and Billy Yeary of Dahlonega; three great grandchildren, and
several
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, November 8, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Old Liberty
Baptist
Church with Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Guy Bradley officiating. Special music was presented by the Church
Choir. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Darren Copeland, Billy Yeary, Neal Efird, Larry Henderson,
J. D.
Seabolt, and Ronnie Wimpey. Interment
was in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Charles
W. Plott, 89, of Carlton, Georgia, formerly of Blairsville, Georgia,
passed
Saturday, November 9, 1996.
Mr. Plott
was born in Towns County, Georgia, on May 17,
1907, a son of the late Smith Plott and Nora Smith Plott.
He was a farmer and had lived most of his
life in Union County. Mr. Plott was a
member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. His
wife, Mrs. Belle Plott, passed away in 1986.
Surviving
are daughters and sons in law, Jerald Dean and J. P. Payne of
Dawsonville, GA;
Charline and Jay Seay, of Carlton, GA; and daughter, Carolyn Taylor, of
Snellville, GA; three brothers, Paul Plott, Worth Plott and Elbert
Plott, all
of Blairsville; four sisters, Jenny Wilson, of Newnan, GA; Alice Hood,
Nannie
Adams, and Ruth Cantrell, all of Blairsville; nine grandchildren,
fifteen great
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, November 11, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Potts officiating.
Special music for the service was presented
by Susie Phillips, Louise Delong, and Sarah Kelley.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Charles Payne, Carson
Payne, Robby Parham, Trenton Smith, Phillip Taylor, and Jim Coberly. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Albert
Gilchrist Sherman, Sr., age 89 of Blairsville, GA passed away Thursday,
November 7, 1996 at his home in Blairsville.
Moving to this area 2 1/2 years ago from Waynesville, NC Mr.
Sherman was
born in Duval County, FL July 25, 1907 the son of the late Antoine and
Agnes
Bartley Sherman, he grew up in the Ft.
Myers area of
Florida where his father worked on the Thomas Edison Estate. Mr. Sherman served in the Mounted Marines
from 1927 - 1935, and reenlisted in 1942 and was the head Marine Corps
recruiter
for the Southeastern area of the United States until his retirement in
1947
with the rank of master Sergeant. He was
Captain of the Miami Fire Department in Miami and was a member of the
Waynesville, NC Masonic Lodge #259 and Elks BPO of Waynesville, NC and
was of
the Catholic Faith.
Survivors
include his wife, Mrs. Gaye Sherman of the home,
one son, Mr. a. G. Sherman, Jr. of Blairsville, GA and one daughter,
Paula Jean
Holley of Ft. Pierce, FL, four sisters: Neil
Culver of Lorida, FL Dorothy Baumgardner
of Blairsville, GA, Mary Mills of Miami, FL and Peggy Smith of Maggie
Valley,
NC, one grandchild, Eddie Bennett of South Bend, IN and two great
grandchildren
and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial
Services (sic) were held Sunday, November 10, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the
Cochran
Funeral Home with Robert Quinnelly, Chaplain of the North Georgia Honor
Guard officiating.
The
