Mr. W. L. Mason, age
69, of Ivy Log Road, Blairsville, passed away Thursday, November 8,
2012 at
Union General Hospital following an extended illness. He was born March
15,
1943 to the late William Lee and Leo Mab Dean Mason, Sr. W. L. loved to
fish
and hunt. He loved Gospel Singing and sang with The Calvary Road Gospel
Singers. W. L. was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jane Mason. He
was a
member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Mason of the home,
sons and
daughters-in-law, Gerald and Sherry Mason, Doug and Tammy Mason and
daughter
and son-in-law, Shelly and Darrell Allen all of Blairsville, GA,
brother,
Julian Mason of Murphy, NC, sisters, Dorothy Pickelsimer of
Blairsville, Bonnie
Davenport of Blairsville, Eva and her husband Harold Williams of
Blairsville,
Nancy Stevens of Blairsville, Kathryn and her husband Bud Fox of
Blairsville,
Elaine Young of Blairsville, grandchildren, Amanda Mason, Ashley Mason,
Derrick
Allen, Dalton Allen, LeeAnn Chase and Josh Craig.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at
Mountain View
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luther Thomas and Rev. Ray Harper
officiating.
Music was by The Calvary Road Gospel Singers. Pallbearers were be James
Bridges, Ernest Rice, Justin Mason, Jimmy Pickelsimer, Ethan Ledford
and Bruce
Meeker. Interment followed in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. In Lieu
of
flowers if you wish make memorial contributions to the American Cancer
Society.
The family met with friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6
until 9
p.m.

Mr. Matthew Dewayne
Hampton, age 32 of Mockingbird Trail, Blairsville, passed away on
Monday,
November 5, 2012 in the Erlanger Hospital following injuries received
in an
automobile accident. Matthew was born on February 2, 1980 the son of
William D.
Hampton and the late Vickie Kent. One of his passions was drawing. He
was
employed at the Waffle House at the time of his death. He had been
previously
been employed at Brasstown Valley Resort as a chef. He was preceded in
death by
his mother, Vickie Rivard in 2010, grandmothers, Jewel Kent and Minnie
Pearl
Lawson and his grandfather, Joe Dent. He was a loving son, father,
brother and
was a friend to many. Mr. Hampton was a member of Hanging Dog Baptist
Church in
Murphy.
Surviving
Mr. Hampton are his parents, William D. (Bill) and Junenell Hampton of
Blairsville, two sons, Matthew Hampton Jr. of Blairsville, Westley
Peeler of
Blairsville, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Josh Hampton of
Blue Ridge,
Isaiah and Amanda Hampton of Blue Ridge, Richard and Jennifer Rivard of
Hawaii,
two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rebekah and Shawn Hunter of
Blairsville,
Christy Rivard of WS., many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
private memorial service will be held at a later date from the
residence. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be
made to
help defray funeral expenses in memory of Mr. Hampton.

Rev.
Doyle C. Gunter, age 83, of Tanyard Street, Blairsville passed away
at his home on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 following a brief illness.
He was
born in Boise, ID June 4, 1929 to the late Rev. Frank H. and Dellie
Wykle
Gunter. Doyle announced his calling to preach the Gospel on December
23, 1962,
and it was his wish to be remembered as a worker in the church and his
love of
serving his Lord. He was a loving dad, brother and grandfather, he
loved
fishing and hunting. Doyle was preceded in death by a brother, Joe L.
Gunter in
May 1981, sisters, Ruby Conner in January 2005 and Lovon Stiles in
August 2012.
Doyle was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Tony Gunter Ashe of Dahlonega, GA and Perry Lee
Gunter
Ashe of Panama City, FL, brothers, Arthur Gunter of Sylvia, NC, Thomas
and
Barbara Gunter of Waynesville, NC, Frank Jr.
and Shelbie Gunter, of Blairsville, GA, sister,
Dessie and Fred Plott of Blairsville, GA, brother-in-law, Herman Conner
of
Waynesville, NC, sister-in-law, Sandra Gunter of Blairsville, GA,
several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at
Ebenezer
Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating. Music was by
Ebenezer
Church Choir. Pallbearers were Lee Knight, Larry Henderson, Edward
Mashburn,
Neil Griggs, J.L. Davenport and William Kerr. Honorary pallbearers were
Rev.
Robert Stiles and Rev. Ray Potts. Interment followed in Ebenezer
Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral home Thursday
evening from
6 until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers if you wish make memorial

Mr. Carl “Bud” Dean
Flesher, age 64, of Fern Valley Lane, Blairsville, passed away
Wednesday,
November 7, 2012 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta following a brief
illness.
He was born January 18, 1948 in Akron, OH. He moved here four years ago
from
Bonita Springs, FL. Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather;
he was
“The Best”. Bud was preceded in death by his father Charles Flesher, a
brother,
Ricky Flesher and a sister, Vicki Flesher. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife
Theresa A. Flesher of the home,
mother, Margaret Saulsgiver Flesher of Blairsville and Bonita Springs,
FL, son,
Buddy Flesher, Jr. of Bonita Springs, FL, daughter and son-in-law,
Misty and
Daniel Knox of Blairsville, GA, sisters, Sandy and her husband John
Marletter
of Blairsville, GA, Debbie Kinnett of Blairsville, GA, brother, Chuck
and his
wife Joanne Flesher of Bonita Springs, FL, seven grandchildren, Tosha
and Josue
Ventura, Vinnie Urbanowski, Brittany Urbanowski, Monica Flesher, Megan
Flesher,
Tyler Flesher and Chance Flesher, four great grandchildren, Sara
Ventura,
Victor Ventura, David Ventura and Brooklyn Flesher.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 4 p.m. at
Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Tanner officiating.

Mrs. Joyce Aveline
Garrett, age 83, of Hidden Lake Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Saturday, Nov.
10, 2012 in the Piedmont Hospital due to complications following open
heart
surgery. Mrs. Garrett was born on Jan. 5, 1929 in Morganton, GA, the
daughter
of the late Homer Tipton and the late Lydia Ball Tipton. Joyce had been
a
resident of Union County for the past thirty five years. Before her
retirement
she had been employed with Blairsville Manufacturing Company & was
a
Seamstress for over forty years. Joyce was a loving mother, sister,
aunt and
grandmother who was a selfless, caring, thoughtful, humorous, devoted
and
generous soul "Gone home to be with her Savior." She was preceded in
death by her husband, Ralph Lee Garrett in 1999. Mrs. Garrett was a
member of
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Garrett are her daughter and son-in-law, Joelle and Brian Kinsey
of
Hiawassee, one stepson and his wife, Jimmy and Frances Evans of
Quitman, MS,
one stepdaughter, Sharon Evans of Meridian, MS, one sister and
brother-in-law,
Gladys and Calvin Lunsford of Suches, one brother and sister-in-law,
Frank and
Gwen Tipton of Morganton, two grandsons, Jacob Davis and Seth Howard
Kinsey,
six step grandsons, Robert Evans, Richard Allen, Kenneth Evans, Chris
Scalf,
Terry Scalf and James Lambert, several nieces, nephews, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral services were
held on Monday November 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Grove
Baptist
Church with the Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.
Special
music was presented by the Pleasant Grove Church Choir, Dodie Thomas
&
Megan O’Donald and member from the Macedonia Church Choir. The
following
gentleman served as pallbearers, Robert and Randy Tipton, Tommy Husky,
Kenny
Dehart, Chase Hemphill, and Danny Mejia. Interment will follow in the
Pleasant
Grove Church Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral home
on
Sunday evening from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in
memory
of Mrs. Garrett.
