Mrs.
Cordia Jones, 93, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 1995 in Fannin Regional
Hospital in Blue
Ridge, Georgia.
Mrs. Jones was born in North Dakota
on July 14, 1902, a daughter of Henry Carmack and
Alice
Hinkle Carmack. She had lived in
the Blairsville area for 25 years, coming here from Kentucky. She was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving are three daughters,
Gertrude Nation, of Blairsville; Hazel Smith, of Barbourville, KY; and
Vada
Strain, of Detroit, MI; son, Denver Callihan, of Benton, KY; sister,
Beatrice
Crawford, of London, KY; and brother, Vernon Carmack, of Louisville,
KY;
fifteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, nineteen
great-great
grandchildren, and two great-great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday
November 9, 1995 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of the Funeral Home with
Rev. John
Kay officiating. Special music was
presented by Ken and Elaine Young.
Interment was in Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Doris Parrish Henry, 73, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 6, 1995 at her home.
Mrs. Henry was born September 11,
1922, in Bullock County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Henry Grady
Parrish,
Sr., and Henrietta Robertson Parrish. She
was a retired teacher and had been living in Blairsville since January
1994,
coming here from Stone Mountain, GA.
Mrs. Henry was a member of First United Methodist Church of
Union
County, the United Methodist Women, and Friendship Force, Atlanta. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa
Sorority; Beta Delta Chapter of Delta Pi Epsilon; The Retired Teachers
association; Life Enrichment Program of Atlanta; The Woman’s Club of
DeKalb
College. Mrs. Henry had been very
involved with activities in Branan Lodge also.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Roger
Henry, of the home; step son, Robert Paul Henry, of Cherry Point, North
Carolina; step daughter, Ruth Ann McLauchlon, of Australia;
granddaughter Aria;
sisters: Ellen Parrish Hannaford, of Woodbine, GA, and Betty Parrish
Lee, of
Brooklet, GA; sister in law, Latane Hardman Parrish, of Statesboro, GA;
several
nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday,
November 8, 1995 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home
with Dr.
Robert Darby officiating. Special music
was presented by Lyn and Janice Catron.
Serving as Honorary Escort to the family were members of the
Fidelis
Sunday School Class. Interment was in
Brooklet Cemetery in Brooklet, GA, on Thursday, November 9, 1995, at
11:00 AM
with Rev. Warren Williams, and Rev. Raymond Summerlin officiating.
In lieu
of flowers,
the family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church
of Union
County Building Fund, or to Brooklet United Methodist Church Parsonage
Fund.

Mr.
Ronald V. Souther, age 80, of Hiawassee,
Georgia, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 1995, after a period of
declining
health. Born in Union
County, the son of the late James Hayes Souther and Frances Etta Ensley
Souther. Surviving are daughters:
Mrs. Ruby Garrett of Hiawassee Georgia, Mrs. JoAnn Crump of Young
Harris,
Georgia, Mrs. Ella Faye Baxter, of Young Harris, and Mrs. Diana Worley
of
Hayesville, NC.; sons; Mr. J. B. Souther of Austin, Texas, and Mr.
Jerry
Souther of Hiram, Georgia; sister: Mrs. Reeva Potts, of Young Harris,
Georgia;
eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and a number of
nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday,
November 10, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of the Banister Funeral
Home in
Young Harris, with Rev. Harley Hunter officiating.
Interment was in Laurel Hills Memory
Gardens. Pallbearers were: Wayman
Lovell, Donald Lovell, Lewis Baxter, Joe Baxter, Cory Souther, and
Richard

Mrs.
Sophia Ledford Garrett, 92, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, November 10, 1995 in Union
General Hospital in
Blairsville. Mrs. Garrett was born in
Clay County, North Carolina, a daughter of Robert Ledford and Maggie
Moss
Ledford. She had lived most of her life
in this area and was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Mrs. Garrett had been preceded in death by
her husband, Mr. L. B. Garrett, in 1988.
Surviving are daughters, Dallas
Walls, of Hiawassee, Ga.; Magnus Hamby of Blairsville; and Faye
Barfield, of
Douglas, Ga; sons, D.L. Garrett, of Detroit, MI; and Walter Garrett of
Blue
Ridge, Ga; Twenty Seven Grandchildren also survive, with several great
grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and other relatives also
survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
November 12, 1995 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with
Rev.
Brad Davis officiating. Special music
was presented by the Macedonia Church of Christ Choir.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Denny Garrett, Scott Brown, Joey Brown, Paul Davidson,
Mike Hart,
and Charles Garrett. Interment was in
New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
