Mrs. Dana
Michelle Nelson, age 38, of Festus
Drive, Blairsville, passed away at her home on Monday, November 7, 2011
following
an extended illness. Dana was born
December 16, 1972 in Marietta, GA, daughter of the late Amos Eugene and
Lois
Taylor Porter. She moved here in 1993
from Smyrna, GA. She was a Para-pro at
Union County elementary School. She
loved to camp and do crafts. Dana was
very involved with her church, children and all things kids. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist
Church.
Surviving Dana are her husband,
Bobby Nelson of Blairsville, son Seth Nelson of Blairsville, daughter,
Sarabeth
Nelson of Blairsville, brother, Perry Porter of Kennesaw, brother and
sister-in-law, Paul and Jan Porter of Ackworth, sister and
brother-in-law, Tina
and Robert Burnette of Blairsville, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2
p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Philadelphia Baptist church with
rev.
Chad Underwood and Rev. Phillip Davenport officiating.
Music was by Becky Rogers. Pallbearers
were Greg Odom, Charlie Davis,
Gene Nelson, Jack Nelson, Daniel Nelson, Jeremiah Nelson, Larry Payne
and Bobby
Gooch. Honorary pallbearers were Dugan
Hemphill, Don Rogers, Bill Abernathy and Vester Dills.
Interment followed in the church
cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish
the family suggests that memorial be made to Breast Cancer Research in
Dana’s
memory.

Mr. Rex
Woodrow Rogers, age 53, of Ledford
Lane, Blairsville passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his home
following
an extended illness. Rex was born in
Murphy, NC, son of the late Woodrow and Norene Thomas Rogers. He enjoyed gardening, trout fishing and just
being outdoors. He was a wonderful
husband and great dad, and loved Bluegrass and Gospel Music. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Rex is
survived by
his loving wife, Traci Rogers, Blairsville, son, Trevor Rogers of
Blairsville,
sisters, Marcella and Dale Underwood of Blairsville and Caroline and
Raymond
Mull of Morganton, brother, Rev. Gary and Jodi Rogers of Blairsville,
special
nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
November 8, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Ray
Potts and Rev. Cotton Harris officiating.
Music was by Elaine Young.
Pallbearers were Doug Abercrombie, Michael Thomas, Ronnie Coker,
Brian
Ledford, Richard Morgan and Randy Ledford.
Interment was in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Paul
Rickey Brown, age 65, of Sawmill
Rd, Blairsville passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Hospice of
Chattanooga following an extended illness.
Paul was born April 21, 1946 in Blairsville, GA.
He was a US army (sic) Vietnam Veteran. He
was preceded in death by his father, Jim
Brown, brothers, Edward, James and Lewis Brown.
He was of the Baptist Faith (sic).
Survivors are his wife, Betty Brown

Marylin
Israel, age 82, of Union County
Nursing Home passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2011.
Mrs. Israel was born on December 22, 1928
daughter of the late Moss C. and Bess Jackson Windish.
She was the widow of Nathan Israel and they
had lived in Blairsville since 1984.
She is
survived by a
daughter, Marcy Madison, of Waco, TX and a son, Lonnie Harris, of
Richmond, KY,
as well as three grandchildren, Allison Harris, Evan Harris, and Dane
Madison
and one great-grandson, Peyton Madison.
Funeral services were held Friday,
November 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel
with
Chaplain Victor Morgan officiating.
Pallbearers included Dwayne Patterson, Hoyt Patterson, Adam
Patterson,
Timmie Wheeler, Seth Robertson, and Jay Lynch.
Interment was in Holly Hills Cemetery.

Mr.
Charles Andrew Lee, age 82, of Timber
Ridge Rd., Blairsville passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home
following
an extended illness. Mr. Lee was born
December 5, 1928 in East Point, GA son of the late Eubert and Alma
Adams
Lee. He moved to this area in 1990 from
East Point, GA. He was a 50 year Mason
and a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge # 114 F&AM.
Mr. Lee was a member of the First Baptist
church of Blairsville.
Survivors include his wife of 63
years, Latrice Lee of Blairsville, sons, Charles Allen Lee of
Arnoldsville, GA
and Andrew Jay Lee of Charlotte, NC, brothers, Harold Lee and Henry Lee
both of
Griffin, GA, sister Eloise Hunt of Douglasville, six grandchildren and
five
great grandchildren.
Private memorial services will be
held at a later date. In lieu of flowers

Mrs.
Billie J.
Anna-Brady, age 83, of Blairsville passed away on Friday, November 11,
2011 at
her home. Mrs. Brady was born on May 25,
1928 in Abilene, TX to the late Henry & Julia Reese Moran. She lived most of her life in Amarillo, TX,
close to her sister, Pauline Heath. Billie
was a Telephone Operator for Northwest Texas Hospital until 2001 when
she
retired. She has lived in the area with
her son and caregiver, Scott Anna for the 5 months preceding her death.
Her greatest love up to the end was her
dog,
Jimmie, who was by her side. Mrs. Brady
was preceded in death by her husband, C.O. Brady; her son, Edward W.
Anna, Jr.;
her parents; and two brothers, Preston and Robert Moran.
She will
be fondly
remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her children:
Cindi
Heness, Sandy Laubscher, Shelley Anna and Scott Anna.
No
memorial service
is planned by her request. Mrs. Billie
Brady will be cremated and the ashes spread in the area she called “my
home”
(the woods near her home in Blairsville); along with some spread at the
site of
her deceased husband’s grave. She was surrounded by and cared for up to
her end
by her son, Scott Anna, friend Jim Fitzgerald, and adopted
granddaughter, Debby
Gibson of Blairsville.
