Mr.
Austin Emory Holloway, age 76, of Almond
Creek in Marble, NC, formerly of Blairsville passed away on Thursday,
November
11, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare of Blue Ridge following an extended
illness. Austin
was born on January 14, 1934 in
Blairsville, GA to the late Elbert Bristol Holloway and the late Vanita
May Carroll
Holloway. He served in the Korean War
and worked as a truck driver for McClure’s Trucking for several years. Mr. Holloway attended the Hayesville Church
of God. Austin was a loving husband,
father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth
Marie Applegate Holloway, his sister Shelby Jean Holloway and his
brother Jake
Harold Holloway.
Surviving Austin are his daughter
Susan Freeman of Murphy, his son Sonny Holloway of Griffin, and his son
and
daughter-in-law Austin Jr. and Toni Holloway of Trenton, NJ, his sister
Nancy
Gertrude Johnston of Ellijay, his brothers Harvey Holloway of Milner,
J.D.
Holloway of Blairsville, his brothers and sisters-in-law Hughel Lee and
Juanita
Holloway of Griffin and Benny Joe and Sharon Holloway of Marietta, four
grandchildren John Freeman, Deric Freeman, Shalon Freeman and Matthew
Holloway
and great grandchildren Jasmine Freeman and Jacob Freeman, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Sunday,
November 14, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev.
Hubert
Legg officiating. Special music was played
by L.D. Buchanan and The Happy Pilgrims.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, David Holloway,
Darrell
Allen, Junior Carroll, David Carroll, Arnold Patterson and Dell Tanner. Interment followed in the Dillard Chapel
Cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard conducting military honors. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Saturday evening from 5-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Juanita M. Burke age 80 of Burkensmyth
Lane, Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 in the Union
General
Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Burke was born on May 29, 1930 in Brunswick, GA, the
daughter of
the late Benjamin Grooms Manning and the late Maudie Davis Manning. Juanita loved to cook and to help people and
loved all kinds of animals. She was a
care giver for many years. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burke in 1990, two sons,
Howard Burke
in 1995 and Russell in 1986. She was a
loving mother, grandmother and was a friend to many.
Mrs. Burke was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Burke are one son and
daughter-in-law, Dalton and Kathleen Burke of Blairsville, one daughter
and
son-in-law, Lynn and Don Sly of Lakeland, FL, three grandchildren,
Jenny, Amy
and Christopher, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a
later date. Interment will follow in the
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Leesburg, FL.
In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Humane Society
in
memory of Mrs. Burke.

Mrs.
Dorothy Marie Patterson, age 55, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Patterson was born in Acworth,
Georgia, on Wednesday, August 17, 1955, a daughter of the late Odell
Howard and
Rose Petty Howard. She was employed as a
manager in metal roofing, and attended Grace Baptist Church in
Hayesville,
North Carolina. Her father, Mr. Odell
Howard, preceded her in death.
Surviving family members include her
mother, Rose Howard, of Kennesaw, Georgia; children: Cynthia Lee
Slinker, of
Edmonton, Kentucky; and Vernon Millwood, of Cartersville, Georgia;
siblings:
James Howard, of Acworth, Jimmy Howard, of Felton, Georgia; Sandy
Simmons, of
South Carolina; Sara Millwood, of Kennesaw; Judy Dageman, of Jasper,
Georgia;
and Marie Fowler, of Michigan; grandchildren: Katelyn Schiver and
Michael
Millwood.
No services are scheduled at this

Mr.
Michael Eugene Donham age 56 of Bill Long Rd., Blairsville passed away
on
Monday, November 8, 2010 in the Union General Hospital following a
brief
illness. Mr. Donham was born on Jan. 14,
1954 in Chattanooga, TN, the son of the late Kenneth W. Donham
and the
late Faye Burgess Donham. He was a
loving father, brother, grandfather, fiancé and was a friend to many. Mike loved the mountains and being outdoors. Mike attended the Young Cane Church of God.
Surviving
Mike are one daughter, Ashley Howell of Knoxville, TN, one sister and
brother-in-law,
Jan and Tom Resig of Mt. Juliet, TN, fiancée, Betty Jones of
Blairsville, two
grandchildren, nieces, Heather and Andy Howell of Chattanooga, Jennifer
and Trevor
Northam of Lenior City, TN, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday November 10, 2010 at 7 p.m. from the
Mountain
View Chapel with the Rev. William Sisum officiating. Special
music was presented by Regina Putnam
and Heather Sisum. The following
gentleman served as pallbearers, Sonny Jones, Henry Jones, Tim Glass,
Chad
Sisum, Matthew Whitner, Wendall Lee, Randy Ledford and Dr. Richard
Putnam. Interment and graveside services
followed on
Thursday Nov. 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Meadow View Cemetery. The
family met
with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-7pm.

Mr.
Clifton Waites, age 71 of Blairsville,
passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the St. Joseph’s
Hospital in
Atlanta following an extended illness. Clifton
was born on September 8, 1939 in Hissop, Alabama, son of the late
Jeffie Waites
and the late Annie Pearl Robinson. He
lived in the area for eleven years, moving here from West Palm Beach,
Florida
where he was the Assistant Chief of the fire department.
Clifton was a loving husband father,
grandfather and a friend to many. He is
preceded in death by his sister Gloria Sasser and his son David Waites. He was a member of Palms West Presbyterian
Church.
Surviving Mr. Waites are his loving
wife, Carolyn Waites of Blairsville, a daughter and son-in-law, Carol
and John
Walrath of Loxahatchee, FL, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeff and
Marilyn
Waites of Summerfield, FL and Billy Royce Waites of Murphy, NC, two
grandchildren, John Walrath Jr. and Joey Walrath, seven nieces and
nephews and many
other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Thursday,
November 11, 2010 at 4 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel in
Blairsville with
Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. In lieu

Mr.
Robert t. Davenport, age 86, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 in Union
County
Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mr. Davenport was born in Union
County, Georgia, on February 16, 1924, a son of the late Thomas and the
late
Fancy Bailey Davenport. He lived most of
his life in Blairsville, and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Robert had been preceded in death by his
wife, Nadean Hughes Davenport; a daughter and son-in-law, Geraldean and
Gene
Chance; granddaughter and great granddaughter Tina and Jessica Mowry;
two
sisters: Ruthie Richards, and Bonnie Davenport; five brothers, Luther,
Herman,
Ira, Harley, and Floyd Davenport.
Surviving family members include
sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Martha Davenport, of Blairsville;
J.L.
and Nicole Davenport, of Blairsville; Elmer and Sherri Davenport, of
Seneca,
South Carolina; H.B. and Linda davenport, of Blairsville; daughter and
son-in-law, Shirley and Ronnie McDonald, of Blairsville; thirteen
grandchildren
and nineteen great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
November 14, 2010, at 3 pm, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy
Rogers,
Rev. Randy Hughes, and Rev. Dwayne Patterson
officiating. The body lay instate
at the church starting at 2:30 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Special music was presented by Martha
Davenport, Julie Payne, and Sheila Partin.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jonathan
Davenport, Brian
Davenport, Bret Davenport, Joey Davenport, Justin Davenport, Lloyd
Davenport,
Tony Davenport, and Richard Chadwick.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Jean
Trulove Richards, age 90, of
Hemptown, Georgia, in Fannin County, passed away Tuesday, November 9,
2010 at
Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, Georgia.
Mrs. Richards was born December 29,
1919 in Union County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Wm. Lee Trulove
and the
late Dove Morgan Trulove. Jean taught
school in the small rural schools in Union Co. until 1948, at which
time she
and Frank Richards of Fannin Co. married and settled in Hemptown where
she
became a dedicated homemaker and an active member of their church
“Bethel
Methodist” for 48 years. Frank went on
to be with the Lord in October of 1996, and Jean lived on in the
community until
2003 when she fell and broke a hip. After
that her health declined to the point that on December 31, 2003 she had
to go
in Union County Nursing Home and that has been her ‘home away from
home” until
early Tuesday morning God took her to her real home in Heaven.
Jean is survived by one sister,
Polly Trulove Woodham of Blairsville, GA, also nieces, nephews, cousins
and
many friends whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services were held Thursday,
November 11 in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, GA at
1 p.m.
with Rev. Michael Morton and Rev. Charles Black officiating. Music was provided by Bill Johnson and Joanna
Holoman. Pallbearers were the following
gentlemen: Larry Trulove, Dan Trulove, David White, Taylor Woodham, Bob
Thomas,
and Chris Woodham. Serving as honorary
pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Wilson Cobb, Winston Rhodes,
Luther
Rhodes, and Hal Bruce. Burial was in
Hemptown Cemetery.
The family received friends at the
funeral home on the day of the funeral, Thursday, from 11 a.m. until
12:30 p.m.

Betty Ann
Crosby was born July 3, 1924 in
Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Raymond Stimpson and the late
Margaret
Stimpson. Betty grew up in Chattanooga
and attended Central High School where she met Earl Cosby and married
him on
April 8, 1945. She was a housewife and
mother of three children.
She worked as a secretary in several
offices, her favorite of which was at East Ridge Elementary School
where she
took on the role of librarian, nurse, and secretary.
She only liked a job if it was a challenge
and kept her busy.
Betty’s family moved to Blairsville,
Georgia in 1976 when Earl retired from Exxon.
Together they constructed three homes in the Blairsville area. Betty enjoyed gardening and working in her
yard.
Betty and Earl were very involved in
several churches and other Christian ministries. Currently
Betty was supporting 20 different
Christian ministries. Thousands of free
Bibles have been given out in her track racks around town.
She was preceded in death by hr husband, Earl
in 2007 and by a sister, Virginia Bridgers.
Survivors include: son and
daughter-in-law, Gary and Diane Cosby of Chattanooga; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Pamela and David Collins and Deborah and Chuck Sommer all
of
Blairsville; six grandchildren, Bret, Carrie, Eric, Katie, Brian and
Jessica,
four great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on
Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with
the Rev.
Robert Smith officiating. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Chuck Sommer, David Collins, Eric
Collins,
Jason Taylor, Brian Cosby and Mike McIntyre.
Interment followed in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000,
Boone,
NC 28607 in Mrs. Cosby’s memory. The
family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from
4-7 p.m.
