Rev.
Herbert J. Patterson, age 63, of Blairsville, GA. Passed away Thursday,
Nov.
12, 1998 following an extended illness.
Rev.
Patterson was born Saturday, Nov. 22, 1934 in Union County, GA. The son of William H. and Lillie Elliott Patterson.
He was an
Army Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Blanche Bingham Patterson of the
home; three
daughters: Teresa Wehunt, of Buford, GA. And Charlotte Lynch and Shelia
Wheeler, both of Blairsville, GA.; two sons: Hoyt Patterson of Lula,
GA. And
Rev. Dwayne Patterson of Blairsville, GA; one brother: Eugene
Patterson, of
Blairsville, GA; two sisters: Ruth Pattersona and Geniva Cook, both of
Blairsville, GA; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild and a number of
nieces
and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. from the Ebenezer
Baptist
Church with the Rev. Loys Waters and the Rev. Dexter Dockery
officiating. Interment was in the church
cemetery.
Special
music was provided by Linda Anderson; and L.D. and
Happy Pilgrims.
Pallbearers
were: Doyle Gunter, Arlin Worley, Rex Dockery,
Dwight Anderson, Junior Griggs, and Troy Phillips.

Julie
M. Grizzle, age 76, of Blairsville, GA, passed away at her home Friday,
Nov.
13, 1998.
Julia was
born in Union County, on Tuesday, June 6, 1922, a daughter of the late
Lewis
and Millberry Jarrard Grizzle. She was a
member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Surviving are: daughter and
son-in-law, Joyce and Junior Ramsey of
Suches, GA.; sisters, Lizzie Carder of Cumming, GA. And Grace
Abercrombie of Blairsville,
GA.; four grand children and six great grand children; several nieces
and
nephews; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, NOV>15, at 2 p.m. from
the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hood, Rev. Waymon
Lovell, Rev.
Ray Potts and Rev. Horace Potts officiating.
Music was
presented by the Glory Bound Quartet. Pallbearers
were Bill Coker, Robert Bridges,
Paul Carder, Doyle Carter, Kenneth Abercrombie and Larry Abercrombie. Interment was in Corinth Baptist Church
Cemetery. Cochran Funeral Home, in
charge of arrangements.

Jerry
Henry Holbrooks, age 43, of Blairsville, GA. Passed away Monday, Nov.
9, 1998
in Northeast Georgia Medical Center at Gainesville, following an
extended
illness.
Mr.
Holbrooks was born on Monday, Jan. 31, 1955 in Lumpkins County, GA. A son of Hazel Thomas Holbrooks and the late Arvie
Holbrooks.
He was a
lifelong resident of this area, and attended Salem Baptist Church. Mr. Holbrooks had held various occupations
over the years, including a builder, fireman and county deputy. He was proceeded
in
death by a sister, Joan Elaine Holbrooks and his father, Arvie
Holbrooks.
Surviving
are: wife, Robin K. Holbrooks, of Blairsville; his mother, Hazel T.
Holbrooks;
daughters: Margaret Holbrooks, Amy Holbrooks, Becky Brown and Carrie
King, all
of Blairsville; sisters: Frankie Seabolt, Janet Stephens and Susie
King;
brothers: Mark Holbrook, Lynn Holbrooks, Johnny Holbrooks and Tommy
Holbrooks,
all of Blairsville. Many friends and other
relatives survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. from
the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Stacy
Dyer, Rev.
Jimmy Tanner, and Rev. David Atkins officiating.
Specially
selected music was presented by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: J.D. Stephens, Gene Cook, Rudy Eller, Charles Worden,
Denny Dills,
Damon Hood, Ernie Pruitt, David Dye, Todd Helcher and C.J. Worden, with
Robert
Hull driving the fire truck which carried the body to the graveside at
Harmony
Grove Baptist Cemetery. Members of union
Co. Fire Dept, and law enforcement officials served as honorary escort.
