Mr. Billy
Ralph Owenby, 61, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
November 13,
1996 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
Owenby was born in Union County, Georgia, on March 18,
1935, a son of Garnet Owenby and Bonnie Ervin Owenby.
He was a lifelong resident of Union County,
and was of the Baptist Faith. Preceding
him in death was his mother, Bonnie, and brothers, Charles Jr. and
Audie
Owenby, and a sister, Mildred Butt.
Surviving
are his wife, Amalea Murphy Owenby of the home; his father, garnet
Owenby, of
Blairsville, three children, Peggy Brown, of Young Harris; Stacy Owenby
of
Blairsville; and Tracy Davenport of Blairsville; brothers: Weldon and
J. D.
Owenby of Blairsville; Jimmy Owenby of Hiawassee; Dillard Owenby of
Otisville,
Michigan; and Ray Owenby of Misty Lane, Kentucky; sisters: Dorothy
Mashburn of
Gainesville, GA; Melva Lynn Ledford and Brenda Wallace, both of
Blairsville;
and Shirley Brown of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, November 15, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Youngstown
Baptist
Church with Rev. Leon Henderson and Rev. Larry Shope officiating. Special music was presented by Ned Wilcoxen
and Wilaree Davenport. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: David
Dyer, Greg Nichols, David Crisp, Mike Mashburn, Jerry Mashburn, and
Morris
Mashburn. The following gentlemen served
as honorary escort to the family: Sammie Davenport, Ralph Griggs, Dennis King.
Interment was in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of
arrangements.

Mrs.
Marie Nation, 51, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday,
November 9,
1996 in Guatemala.
Mrs.
Nation was born Madison County, Florida, on April 2,
1945, a daughter of Maudie Bargeron Hall and the late S. E. Hall. She had lived in Union county for the past
eighteen years, coming here from Illinois.
She was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving
are husband, Gerald Nation, of Blairsville; her mother, Maudie Hall, of
Murphy,
NC; three children: Terry Crutcher, of Illinois; Brian Nation, of Ft.
Bragg,
NC; and Shaye Marie Nation, of Lakeland, Florida; two granddaughters
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, November 16, 1996 at 11 a.m. from the
Chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Dwayne Beck officiating. Special music was presented by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Johnnie McClain, Charles
Nation, John Wheeler, Brian Ledford, Mark Harkins, and Mike Harkins. Interment was in Antioch Baptist Church
Cemetery.

arrangements.
