hobert donald fortenberry

 

Mr. Hobert Donald Fortenberry, age 68, of Blue Ridge St, Blairsville formerly of Suches passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 following a brief illness.  Mr. Fortenberry was born on November 29, 1938 in Union County, the son of Sarah Dora Tow Fortenberry and the late Clint Fortenberry.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County, mostly of the Suches area.  He was preceded in death by his father, cling Fortenberry, and a brother, Tommy Fortenberry.

Surviving Mr. Fortenberry are one daughter Willadene Joy and Stanley Tyler of Blairsville; mother, Sarah Dora Fortenberry of Blairsville; one sister, Joyce and Roger Kelley of Blairsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Roberta Fortenberry of Suches, GA, Edd and Margie Fortenberry of Moline, IL; grandchildren, Sheena Ivory Johnson of Blairsville, Brandon Jack Henderson of Milledgeville, GA, Timothy James Henderson of Blairsville, Sherri Nicole Tyler and Richard Lawrence Tyler; niece, Hillary Elise Kelley of Blairsville; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7 p.m. from the Blairsville Christian Center with the rev. Woffard Kelley officiating.  Special music was presented by Sarah Kelley.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to help defray medical and funeral expenses.  The family met with friends on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the church.

sarah yvonne miller

 

Sarah Yvonne Miller, age 82, of Suches, GA passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at her home in Suches.  Miss Miller was a native and lifelong resident of Suches.  She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Suches.  She loved the Lord and she read her Bible every day.  She was a very loving sister, aunt and friend.

She was the daughter of the late James Alonzo Miller and Vella Elizabeth Ingram Miller and was also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, John and Lucy Miller; brother, Howard Miller; brothers-in-law, Pat McClure and Dillard McCoy; nephew-in-law, Jake Bramblett.

Miss Miller is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Martha Miller, Suches; sisters and brother-in-law, Reba McClure, Adairsville, Elberta McCoy, Cartersville, Cleo and Buddy Adcock, Adairsville; nephew and wife, Bobby and Brandy Miller, Suches; nieces and spouses, Althea and Johnny Cantrell, Suches, Robbie and Lowell Wilkins, Suches, Patty and Church Corey, Adairsville, Faye and George White, Cartersville, Glenda and Steve Hefner, Westland, MI; great-nephews and wives, Jordan and Jamie Miller, Suches, Daniel and Kristie Bramblett, Birmingham, AL; great-nephews, Darien Wilkins, Suches, Andrew Hefner, Westland, MI; great-nieces, Jennifer White, Cartersville, Eliza Wilkins, Suches, Bella Wilkins, Suches; great-great-niece Morgan Bramblett; great-great-nephews, Jake Bramblett, Josh Bramblett and Elijah Miller.

Funeral services for Miss Miller were scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.  Rev. Josh Mulkey, Rev. Barry Payne and Rev. Bobby Baker will officiate.  Interment followed in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches.  Pallbearers were Bobby Miller, Jordan Miller, Johnny Cantrell, Jimmy woody, Tony Cruce, and Tim Cruce.  Honorary pallbearers were Hobert Lunsford and Rodney Woody.

jesse gilbert nichols

 

Mr. Jesse Gilbert Nichols, age 71, of Blairsville passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007 in Chatuge Regional Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Nichols was born on April 26, 1936 in Union County, the son of the late George D. Nichols and the late Ruby Farrow Nichols.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Johnny and Alvin Nichols; two sisters, Hazel Bruce and Althea Johnson; two grandchildren, Dwight and Dwayne Wise.  Mr. Nichols was a member of New Union Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Nichols are one daughter and son-in-law, Coletta and Terry Plott of Blairsville; one son, Jesse Ivan Nichols of Blairsville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Pat Nichols of Blairsville, Bill and Sue Nichols of Blairsville, Dee and Layla Nichols of Detroit, MI; one sister, Helen Malone of KY; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at 4 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Don Hood officiating.  Special music was presented by the Gerald Heaton Family.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Dwain Brackett, Johnny Crisson, Jerry Plott, Doug Hughes, Steve Pruitt and Robert Bridges.  Interment followed in the New Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m.

ronnie james nelson

 

Mr. Ronnie James Nelson, age 56, of Brown Bridge Rd., Clermont, GA, formerly of Union County passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at his home following a brief illness.  Mr. nelson was born on September 1, 1951 in Cherokee County, NC, the son of Dimple Everett Nelson and the late Jerald Thomas Nelson.  He was a lifelong resident of Union County and attended the Union County School System and was of the Graduating Class of 1970.  Ronnie was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Baugh and a brother Robert Lanham.  Mr. nelson was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Nelson are his mother, Dimple Everett Nelson of Blairsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Brenda Nelson of Blairsville Four sisters and one brother-in-law, Debbie and Rex Owenby of Blairsville, Linda Kinnersley of Loganville, GA, Gloria Thompson of Gainesville, Jerrie Rogers of Blairsville; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randolph Jones officiating.  Special music was presented by the Kelly Trio.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Rex Owenby, Ryan Owenby, Tim Kinnersley, Jimmy McCollum, Brian Guffey and Tim Nichols.  Interment followed in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

william glenn johnson

 

Mr. William Glenn Johnson, age 92, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mr. Johnson was born on October 21, 1915 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late William Gill Johnson and the late Myrtle Grunlin Johnson.  He was employed with Disney for over twenty-five years as a photographer.  He was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Glenn Johnson; a brother, John Johnson and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving Mr. Johnson are one daughter, Margaret C. Johnson of Clarkston, MI; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Robin Johnson of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Thomas Michael Johnson and Wesley Todd Johnson; one great-grandchild, Luke Todd Johnson; many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced later by the Mountain View Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the World Vision For Children, 34834 Weyerhaeuser Way S. Federal Way, WA 98001 in Mr. Johnsonís memory.

Mrs. Grace H. Whitehouse, age 82, of Whitehouse Drive, Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Whitehouse was born on April 23, 1925 in Orchelle, NY, the daughter of the late Anton Heckel and the late Maude Sigfreid Heckel.  Grace loved decorating her home and doing crafts and needlework.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Whitehouse in 1981 and by a brother, Jack heckle.  Mrs. Whitehouse was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Surviving Mrs. Whitehouse are one daughter and son-in-law, Patti Ann (Whitehouse) and her husband David Small of Blairsville; one brother, Raymond Heckel of Blairsville; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the rev. Bethal Buchanan officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were her family and friends.  Interment was held in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

lorrie renee smith

 

Mrs. Lorrie Renee Smith, age 46, of Butterfly Lane, Blairsville passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 following a brief illness.  Mrs. Smith was born on February 18, 1961 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Wyman A. Callaway and the late Doris A Brown Callaway.  Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Smith are one son, Evan s. Graham of Blairsville; one sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Allen Walker of Blackstone, VA; cousins, Cheryl Fountain of Jonesboro, GA, Kathy Black and Robin Stinnett both of Griffin, GA; several assorted second and third cousins; other special people, Tony, Lisa and Brad Rich, Wayne and David McCollum and Mandy Berdux; many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Lisa Walker officiating.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American heart Association in Mrs. Smithís memory.
