Don
Nix, age 77, of Port Collins, died Wednesday, October 29, 1997 at
Spring Creek
Health Care Center.
A memorial
service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 3, 1997 at Allnutt
Funeral
Service/Drake Road Chapel.
Mr. Nix
was born April 6, 1920 in Blairsville, GA, to William
J. Nix and Onea West Nix. He married May
Evans on July 28, 1941, in Kimbrall, Nebraska.
He owned and operated the Nix Lumber Company and later worked
for Riemen
Construction for 15 years. He was a
member of the International Labor Union Local No. 172 in Cheyenne,
Wyoming. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had lived in Fort Collins since 19937
after residing in Blairsville.
Survivors
include his wife, May Nix of Fort Collins; three
sons, Donald Nix, Jr. of Windsor and Raymond Lee Nix and Wade A. Nix,
both of
Fort collins (sic) one daughter, Shelby Thimig of Fort Morgan; three
brothers,
Harrison Nix of Blairsville, Newton Nix of Lancaster, S.C., and Paul
Nix of
reeds, GA.; one sister, Rosey Ownbe of Flint, Michigan; 10
grandchildren, and
11 great grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Nix, and his
parents.
Memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer
County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Road Chapel.

Mrs.
Fleeta Cole Odom, age 89, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
November
16, 1997.
Mrs. Odom
was born March 2, 1908 in Polk County, Tennessee,
a daughter of the late Columbus E. Cole and Rhoda Forrester Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove
Baptist Church. Mrs. Odom was the widow
of the late Auda Odom. She had lived in
Akron,
Ohio for many years, but had lived in Akron, Ohio for may
years, but (sic) had lived in Blairsville for the past 27 years.
Surviving are sister, Myrtle Panter
of Blairsville, several nieces,
nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, November 19, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Oak
Grove
Baptist Church with Rev. Loys Waters, Rev. Grady, Ray, (sic) and Rev.
F.C.
Wimpey officiating. Special music was
presented by The Dixie Aires and The Faith Singers.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Stanley Odom, Tim Odom, Bob Odom, J.C. Odom, Burrell
Chastain, and
Kirk Odom. Interment was in Oak Grove
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Luther Bowers, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
November
16, 1997.
Mr.
Bowers was born February 20, 1911 in Union County, Georgia,
a son of the late Gordon Bowers and Florence Payne Bowers.
He was a farmer and had lived in this area
for most of his life. He was a member of
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and of Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114,
F&AM. Mr. Bowers had been preceded in
death by son,
Robert Bowers in 1934 and son Willie Bowers in 1962 and wife Ada Rich
Bowers in
1957 and wife Dester Ghorley Bowers in 1988.
Surviving
are wife, Josephine Miller Bowers, of Blairsville; daughter and
son-in-law,
Ruby and Earl Warren; daughter and son-in-law, Margie and J.C. Harkin;
daughter
and son-in-law, Daisy and Grady Groves; daughter and son-in-law Ann and
Charles
Totherow, all of Blairsville; brother Tommy J. Bowers of Chatsworth,
GA; eleven
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Mt.
Pleasant
Baptist church (sic) with Rev. Jimmy Smith and Rev. Willis Garrett
officiating. Special music was presented
by The Kelley
Trio. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Michael Warren, James
Harkins, Robert Harkins, Leslie Groves, Perry Groves and Calvin Collins. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church
Cemetery, with graveside Masonic rites by The Allegheny Masonic Lodge
members.

Mrs.
Georgia Owenby Haas, age 76, passed away Saturday, November 15, 1997.
Mrs. Haas
was born in Union County, Blairsville, GA, on
March 1, 1921 a daughter of the late Zachary and Cordie Norton Owenby. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist
Church.
Surviving
are daughters Peggy Stroupe and Bobbie Shelton; step-son William A
Haas, Jr.;
sister, Tottsie Dellinger; brothers, Howard Owenby and Sylvan Owenby;
grandsons, Casey and Jason Kirkpatrick, Randy, Gary and Lee Haas;
granddaughter
Lisa Stroupe and Amanda Masters, and April Yager and fourteen great
grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Walnut Grove
Baptist
Church with Rev. Fred A. High officiating.
Music by the choir.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: George Clemmer, Max
Huggins, William McAbee, Richard Greene Wayne Noah, Horace
Robinson. Interment was in church
cemetery.
