athol (pete) hoyt bullock

 

            Athol (Pete) Hoyt Bullock, 85 of Blairsville, GA, passed away on Monday, November 18.  He was born in Montevallo, MO and attended Southwest Missouri State.  Pete served in the army during the Korean War.

            He later in life married wife Jeanie Bullock, with whom he ran Highland Falls Bed and Breakfast Inn nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia.  He loved working his garden, fishing and most of all, telling stories while sitting in his rocking chair overlooking the mountains.  Pete is survived by three children: Mike Bullock, Amy Shortall and Jeff Bullock, as well as his former wife Marg Lake of Leawood, Kansas.  He is also survived by 7 stepchildren and 15 grandchildren.  Private services will be held.

geralyn ann guyette

 

Mrs. Geralyn Ann Guyette, age 64, of Sweet Water Gap Drive, Hayesville, passed away on Saturday Nov. 23, 2013 in the Missions Hospital in Ashville, NC, following an extended illness. Mrs. Guyette was born on July 4, 1949 the daughter of Charlotte Vincent DeJong and the late Gerald DeJong. Geralyn was a blessed wife, very loving mother, sister and grandmother. Mrs. Guyette was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Guyette are her loving husband of forty-five years, Raymond F. Guyette of Hayesville, her mother, Charlotte DeJong of Bath, NC, three daughters and one son-in-law, Melissa May of Murphy, NC, Jennifer and Greg Hammick of Gulf Port, MS, Aimee Fannin of Hayesville, one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Chesney Guyette of Hayesville, a twin sister and four brothers, nine grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A graveside service was held on Monday Nov. 25, 2013 at 3 p.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. George Cline officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Antioch Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Guyette. The family met with friends following the service.

mary magdalene beaver

 

            Mrs. Mary Magdalene Beaver, age 74, of J.L. Davenport Drive, Blairsville, GA passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. She was born July 24, 1939 in Murphy, NC to the late Joseph and Birdie (Bruce) Abernathy. Mary enjoyed crafts and sewing, and loved babysitting her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Randall Mac John Beaver in 2007, brothers, Frank, Melvin, Perry, Paul and Henry Abernathy, and sisters, Ola and Blanche. Mary was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

            Survivors include children, Glenda and Charles Wright of Blairsville, GA, Belinda and Mark Cash of Lenoir, NC and Geraldine Boyer of Blairsville, GA, brother, Ralph and Maggie Abernathy of Murphy, NC, grandchildren: Jeremiah Head, Jonathon Head, Jonie and Ed Carney and Vanessa and Shawn Potter, great grandchildren: Katelyn Carney, Reba Carney, Zachary Carney and Gregory Potter.

            Funeral services were held Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Truelove officiating. Music was by Freddie Thomas. Pallbearers were Shawn Potter, Chris Beavers, Harold Ledford, Jimmy McClure, Andy McClure and Tim Beaver. Interment followed in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

ronald robert reutter

 

            Mr. Ronald Robert Reutter, age 65, of Popular Drive, Blairsville, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born May 5, 1948 in Flushing, NY to the late Frederick and Caroline (Mackie) Reutter. He had lived here since 1980. Mr. Reutter liked his Harley motorcycle. He also loved making people laugh and his dog Hero. Mr. Reutter was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Reitter (sic) and his brother, Frederick Reutter, Jr. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

            Survivors include his children, Deborah Meigs, Kelly Kennedy, Koralee Reutter, Aaron and Julianne Reutter and Adam Reutter all of Blairsville, GA; 12 grandchildren also survive.

            Memorial services were held Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends at the funeral home from 5 until 5:30 p.m.
