Mrs. Ella N. Jenkins
Battle, age 74, of Blairsville passed away peacefully, Sunday, November
18,
2012, in Union County Nursing Home. Ella had been in declining health
for
several months. She was born January 14, 1938 to the late Charlie and
Evia
Souther Jenkins. She was owner of “Miss Ella’s Dress Shop” and
“CindraElla
Dress Shop” on the Square where many friends enjoyed shopping. She was
a
beautiful Christian who lived her faith, and was instrumental in
acquiring toys
for under privileged children; at Christmas, this was her passion and
joy. She
was preceded in death by her brother, Congressman Ed Jenkins. She was a
member
of the Jones Creek Church of God.
Surviving Ella is her
loving husband, Tom Battle of Blairsville, son, Tim Garred of
Blairsville,
brothers, Charles (Bonnie) Jenkins of Blairsville, Ken Jenkins of
Blairsville,
sisters, Marilyn (Homer) Thomasson of Blairsville, Patti (Bobby)
Chambers of
Gainesville, sister-in-law, Jo Jenkins of Jasper, GA. several nieces,
nephews
and cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at
Mountain
View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Danny Parris
officiating. Music was by Sarah Kelley and Evelyn Jones. Pallbearers
were Kenny
Jenkins, Rob Chambers, Doug Davenport, Jack Lance, Hollis Townsend,
Bobby
Chambers and Tom Wynn. Honorary pallbearer was Leon Davenport.
Interment followed
in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at
the
funeral home on Wednesday, from 10 until 11 a.m.

Mrs. Clyta Patterson
Turner age 91, of Allison Road, Blairsville passed away Sunday,
November 18,
3012 at her home following an extended illness. She was born August 31,
1921 in
Conasauga, TN to the late Lee Onzo and Bessie Smith Patterson. Clyta
was a
wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and she
enjoyed
cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting and embroidery. She was preceded
in death
by her husband Guy B. Turner in 2011 and six brothers, two sisters,
son-in-law,
Steve Cox and granddaughter-in-law, Kristi Gibbs.
Survivors include four
children, Thomas and Jayne Turner of
Waverly, TN, Charles and Rebecca Turner of Dallas, GA, Delga Cox of
Blairsville, GA and Carolyn and Paul Filer of Blairsville, GA, three
sisters,
Aleen Turner of Newnan, GA, Frances and Gentry Woody of Morganton, GA
and Marie
Norton of Aurora, CO, six grandchildren, Morris Turner, Daryll Gibbs,
Daniel
Gibbs, Jennifer Holt, Ashley Diaz and Brandon Turner, thirteen great
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1 p.m.
at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev.
Ray
Harper officiating. Music was by Rodney Panter and friends and Daniel
Johnson.
Pallbearers were Daryll Gibbs, Daniel Gibbs, Brandon Turner, Cecil
Smith, Mark
Holt and Roger Turner. Interment followed in Oak Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from
6 until
9 p.m.

Mr. Giles Pitt Dailey, age 81, of
Blairsville, GA passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Dailey was born in Hayesville,
NC, on June 16, 1931, a son of the late Arthur Dailey and Belle Carver
Dailey.
He was a native and long time resident of this area, and was a member
of Old
Union Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the
Korean
War. Mr. Dailey had worked for many years as a mason at the Tennessee
Copper
Company and Cities Service Corp. For over 50 years, he was a member of
the
Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Union.
Mr. Dailey is survived by family members:
son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Pam Dailey, of Young Harris, GA;
grandchildren: Josh Dailey and Jessica Dailey, of Young Harris; sister,
Annie
Bryson, also of Young Harris; special friend, Ann McClure, of
Hiawassee; many
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Dailey were
Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Old Union Baptist Church,
with Rev.
Jimmy Rogers officiating. Special music was presented by Jeannie Miles.
The
body was instate at the church starting at 1:30 p.m. The following
gentlemen served
as pallbearers for the service: Stanley Bryson, Casey Bryson, Larry
Bryson,
Mark Bryson, Ronnie Dailey, and Wayne Collins. Burial was be in Old
Union
Baptist Church Cemetery, with visitation at the funeral home being held
on Monday,
November 19, 2012, between the hours of 6 until 9 p.m.

marjorie sullivan donaldson mccurley
Mrs. Marjorie Sullivan
Donaldson McCurley age 86 of Old Sullivan Road, Blairsville passed away
on
Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at her home following an extended illness
surrounded
by her family and wonderful nurse, Kathy with Georgia Mountain Hospice.
Mrs.
McCurley was born on September 27, 1926 in Union County, the daughter
of the
late Grayson Sullivan and the late Alice Melinda Souther Sullivan. She
was a
loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great
grandmother. Mrs. McCurley enjoyed walking, cooking for her family and
friends,
quilting, reading her Bible and loving her Lord, and working in her
flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband George McCurley in 2006, her
son,
Johnny Donaldson, three brothers, Uary, Ray and Harold Sullivan and by
two
sisters, Eunice Swinson and Virginia Reynolds. Mrs. McCurley was a
member of
Choestoe Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. McCurley are one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Virginia
Donaldson of
Blairsville, one sister, Louise Kelly of Blairsville, three
grandchildren,
Jimmy Donaldson of Lakeland, FL, Shiloh and Jorge Pino of Douglasville,
GA,
David and Amy Walls of Wausau, WI, nine great grandchildren, six great
– great
grandchildren, several special nieces, nephews, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
A
memorial service was held on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 1 p.m. from
the
Choestoe Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating.
Flowers are
accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made
to
Choestoe Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. McCurley. The family met with
friends
following the services at the church.

Mr. Henry William
Baldwin, age 78, of Robertson Way, Blairsville, passed away Tuesday,
November
20, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. He was born May 28,
1934 in
Sidney British Columbia to the late Bernard and Willameena Levirs
Baldwin. Mr.
Baldwin had lived here for 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping,
fishing,
landscaping his property, computers and electronics. He was a loving
husband,
father, brother and grandfather. Mr. Baldwin served 20 years in the
U.S. Marine
Corps. He held every enlisted rank from Private to Master Sergeant and
then was
commissioned an officer. He retired as a Captain. He was later employed
by
Baxter Healthcare Corporation as a manager of customer training and
retired
after twenty years He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Church.
Survivors
include his wife Judith Baldwin of Blairsville, children, Therese and
Ken
Phillips of Gulfport, MS and Michael and Alys Baldwin of Winder, GA,
sister,
Mary Seigrist of Chase, British Columbia, three grandchildren, Kendall
Phillips, Courtney Baldwin and Rebecca Baldwin. There are also many
nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorial
services will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church with Father Liem Nguyen officiating. Music will
be by
Ron Gaucher. Interment will be in St. Clare's Haven. The family will
receive
friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7 until 7:30 with a
Rosary
service at 7:30 p.m. with Deacon Larry Casey. In lieu of flowers, the
family
suggests donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St.
Francis of
Assisi.

Mrs. Reta Mary Watson Peck, age 97,
of Blairsville, who passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her
home.
Mrs. Peck was born in Atlanta, on
October 6, 1915, a daughter of the late Clyde R. Watson and the late
Evelyn
Ward Watson. Mrs. Peck left Atlanta as a 9 year old and moved to
Florida with
her parents. After well over 60 plus years, she moved back to Georgia.
North
Georgia, and especially the Trackrock area, had been a place she loved
to visit
during those 60 plus years she was away. Mrs. Peck was a loving wife,
mother,
grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her family, cooking,
sewing and
gardening and loved to read books. Mrs. Peck was a member of McConnell
Memorial
Baptist Church in Hiawassee. Her husband of 61 years, Arthur L. Peck,
preceded
her in death; an infant grandson, Wade Hampton Thomas and a sister,
Evelyn
Ward, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Peck was dearly loved and will
be greatly missed by her family: daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and
Steve
Bennett, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Lola Peck,
of
Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Glen Hart, of Las
Vegas,
Nevada; two grandchildren: Emily and her husband Eugene Robertson, of
DuBuque,
Iowa and Chris Peck of Savannah, GA; two great grandchildren: Elizabeth
Robertson and Timothy Robertson; two very special friends, Frances
Rollins and
Rita Brewer.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peck were
held Sunday, November 25th, 2012, at 3 p.m., at Chapel of Cochran
Funeral Home
of Blairsville with Rev. Bill Earnest officiating. Special music was
presented
by granddaughter Emily Robertson. Serving as pallbearers were;
Christopher
Peck, Lee Baenninger, Charles Chancey, Don Thomas, Richard Thomas and
Lyle
Hester. Burial was in Osborn Cemetery in Hiawassee.

Mrs. Vivian Lynn
Patstone, age 92, of Blairsville formerly of Albany, GA passed away
Sunday,
November 18, 2012 at Union General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was
born March 4, 1920 in Sycamore, GA to the late Giles Howell and Linnie
Bessie
Smith Webb. She and her late husband, W.E. “Pat” Patstone were owners
of the
V-P farms and she lovingly became known as Albany’s Tomato Lady. Mrs.
Patstone
was a member of 1st United Methodist Church of Albany.
Survivors include
children, Penny and Steve Embry of Suwanee, GA, Sandra and Ed Stripling
of
Greensboro, GA and Andrea Brooks of Blairsville, GA, grandchildren,
Michelle
and Bill Davis, Jennifer and Jeff Stimpson, Anslee and Jimmy Cook and
Julia and
Andy Landers, four great grandchildren.
A private family
service will be held at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany.

Mrs.
Angela Diane Maltby, age 49, of Chimney Stone Rd., Blairsville, went
home to be
with the Lord on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 following an extended
illness.
Angie was born on December 28, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa the
daughter of
Clyde Carlisle and Barbara Hinrichs Carlisle. Angie loved her
plants and
animals. She was a caregiver and cared deeply for her aged
clients.
Angie was a loving wife, daughter, step mother, sister and
grandmother.
Angie was a born again believer and member of the Assemblies of
God
Church.
Surviving
Angie are her loving husband
of twenty-three years, Benjamin T. Maltby of Blairsville, father
Clyde
Carlisle, mother, Barbara Russell of Palatka, FL, four step sons,
Benjamin
Thomas Maltby, lll of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew and Stephanie Maltby of
Sanford, FL, John Michael and Vanessa Maltby of Miami, FL, Dr. Mark
Maltby of
St. Petersburg, FL, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carmine Feagin,
Stacey
and Gus Smith all of Palatka, FL, one brother, Travis Eckman of NY,
three step
grandchildren, Ryan, Julianne and Riley Maltby, and many other

Brandi “Nicole” Chapman, age 32, of
Suches, GA died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in
Chattanooga, TN following a sudden illness.
Nicole was a lifelong resident of
Union County. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches.
She is survived by her two sons,
Matthew Carlton Chapman and James Timothy “J.T” Chapman; parents,
Carlton and
Carolyn Chapman; and grandmother, Eldine Gilreath, all of Suches, GA;
her fiancé,
Timothy Shook, Young Harris, GA; brother, James Brandon Chapman and his
wife,
Maria, Blairsville, GA; and nephew, Austin Chapman. A number of other
relatives
also survive.
Funeral services were 2 PM Sunday,
November 25, 2012 at Zion Baptist Church in Suches. Rev. Tim Taylor
officiated.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Ms. Chapman laid
in state at the church on Sunday from 1 PM until 2 PM. The family
received
friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Friday from 4 PM until
9 PM,
all day Saturday starting at 11 AM, and on Sunday from 9 AM until 12
Noon.

Mrs. Gail Lee Ruff, age
59, of Odom Rd., Blairsville, formerly of Warner Robbins, GA, passed
away on
Friday, November 23, 2012 at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Ruff
was born on Sept. 9, 1953 in Wilson, NC, the daughter of the late James
Nichols
and the late Ruby Parks Nichols. Gail had lived in Union County for the
past
seventeen years, moving here from Warner Robbins. She was a loving
mother and
grandmother.
Surviving
Gail are two sons James Christopher Nichols of Lilburn, GA, Devin Ruff
of
Blairsville, two daughters, Cameron Jennifer Ruff and Elizabeth Blake
Ruff both
of Blairsville, one grandson, Matthew Patterson, several nieces,
nephews, many
other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at 6 p.m.

Mr. Joel Newman Taylor,
age 56, of Bonnie Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, November
23, 2012
in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor
was
born on Feb. 4, 1956 in Greenfield, MA., the son of Phyllis Joan Swehla
Taylor
and the late John Edwin Taylor. Joel was a loving companion, son,
father,
brother and grandfather. He had been living in Union County for the
past
eighteen years, moving here from Tampa, FL. Mr. Taylor had attended the
Emmanuel House Church.
Surviving
Mr. Taylor are his loving companion, Mary Lou Drake Taylor of
Blairsville,
mother, Phyllis Rogers of Greenfield, MA, his step mother, Joan Taylor
of
Blairsville, one sister, Jo Dee Lewis, two brothers, John Lee Taylor
and Jeff
Taylor all of MS, three grandchildren, Raylyn, Logan and Lissandra
Taylor,
several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1st at 2 p.m. at 21st
Century
Church in Blairsville with Rev. Bonnie Becker officiating. Interment
will
follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the
family
