Mrs.
Maxine Freeman Henderson, 64, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 1995 in Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Henderson was born in DeKalb
County, Alabama, on December 13, 1930, a daughter
of
Robert Freeman and Ruby Hudgins Freeman.
She had lived here for the past thirty one years, and was a
member of
Revival Baptist Church. Mrs. Henderson
was preceded in death by her father, Robert Freeman, who passed away in
1971,
and a brother, Gary Freeman, who passed away in 1985.
Surviving are her husband, Mr.
Fletcher Henderson, of Blairsville; her mother, Ruby Freeman, of
Rainsville,
AL; daughter, Yvonna Smith and daughter and son-in-law, Gail and
Franklin “Moe”
Weaver, all of Blairsville; grandchildren: Tracy Henderson, Jeffrey
Henderson,
Abby Weaver, and John Weaver, all of Blairsville; sisters Juanita
Wigley and
Faye Freeman, both of Rainsville; Ovean League of Albertville, AL; and
Roberta
Short of Detroit, MI; brothers, Billy Freeman, of Hengar, AL; Talton
Freeman,
of Cleveland, TN; and Ray Freeman of Albertville, AL.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
November 18, 1995 at 2:00 PM from Revival Baptist Church with Brother
Anthony
Dye and Brother Don Davenport officiating.
Special music was presented by the Pilgrim Quartet.
The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers:
Sheldon Henderson, Todd Coker, Roy Phillips, Jamie Sparks, Daren
Freeman, and
Greg Freeman. Ray Freeman served as
Honorary Escort to the family. Interment
was in Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery (sic).

Mrs.
Lenice Little Poteet, 91, of Rome, GA,
formerly of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 18,
1995 in
Rome.
Mrs. Poteet was born October 30,
1904 in Union County, GA, the daughter of Luke Little
and Ollie Smith Little. She was a member
of Bethany Baptist Church, and a former member of Dooley Chapter of the
Order
of the Eastern Star. She was the widow
of the late Verlin Poteet, who passed away I 1983.
Surviving are daughters: Lona
Cordell, of Marietta, GA; Lucille McDonald of Rome, GA; Carmolita
Holtzclaw, of
Fayetteville, GA; and Maggie Lee Abernathy of Martin’s Creek, NC; son,
Vernon
Poteet, of Marietta; sister: Thelma Nicholson, of Blairsville; fourteen
grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and ten great-great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday,
November 20, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with
Rev.
Jerry Karnes officiating. Specially
selected music was presented by Ken and Elaine Young.
Grandsons served as Pallbearers. Interment
was in Bethany Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruth
J. Shipley, 83, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Thursday, November 23, 1995 at her home.
Mrs. Shipley was born in Mason
County, West Virginia, on October 9, 1912 a daughter of W.T. McCutcheon
and
Catherine Byus McCutcheon. She had lived
in this area for the past six years, coming here from New Kensington,
PA. Preceding her in death was a son, Gene
Shipley, who died in 1990 and a daughter, Joyce Posati, who died in
1982.
Surviving are six children: Ralph
Shipley, of Deland, Florida; Jerry Shipley, of Lake Placid, Florida;
Judith
Zadai, of Blairsville; Douglas Shipley, of Spring Church, PA; Jeffrey
Shipley,
of Jacksonville, Florida; and Jon T. Shipley, of Doylestown, PA.;
twenty eight
grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
November 26, 1995 at 2:30 PM from the funeral home with Nick Carroccio
officiating.

Mrs.
Bertha Butts, 90, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Thursday, November 23, 1995 at her home.
Mrs. Butts was born in Union County,
Georgia, on March 6, 1905, a daughter of the late Calvin Kendall and
Betty Long
Kendall. She was a homemaker and
lifelong resident of this area. Mrs.
Butts was the widow of the late Lester Butts, who passed away in 1991. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist
Church.
Surviving are four daughters: Retha
Dills, Maude Lovell, Jerrie Goolsby, and Gladys Higgins, all of
Blairsville;
son, Sylva Butts, of Blairsville; sisters, Ophlia Dills, of Blairsville
and
Myrtice Dowdy of Flowery Branch, Georgia; brother, Lloyd Kendall, of
Atlanta;
eighteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; nine great great
grandchildren,
and one great great great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
November 23, 1995 at 2:00 PM from Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev.
Waymon
Lovell and Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating.
Special music was presented by Hubert and Betty Legg. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Kurt Butts, Dale Butts, Vester Dills, David Davenport,
Aaron
Dills, and Jonathon Dills. The following
gentlemen served as Honorary Escort to the Family: Chris Goolsby, Jerry
Goolsby,
Ricky Brewer, Jeff Brewer and Jimmy Powell.

Mr.
Junior Dyer 72, of Blairsville, Georgia,
passed away Monday, November 13, 1995 in Union General Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mr. Dyer was born in Union County, Georgia,
on June 21, 1923, a son of the late Samuel Riley Dyer and Sally Reid
Dyer. He was a retired carpenter and a
lifelong
resident of this area.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Nell
Mitchell Dyer, of the home; sons, Larry Dyer, Ricky Dyer, and Jerry
Dyer, all
of Blairsville; daughter, Debbie Young, of Blairsville; sisters, Ida
Reid and
Lydia Hood, both of Blairsville; brothers, Samuel Riley Dyer, Jr., and
Woodrow
Dyer, both of Blairsville; eight grandchildren, and two great
grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday,
November 15, 1995 at 2:00 PM from Pinetop Baptist Church with Rev.
Willis
Garrett and Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Special
music was presented by Susie Phillips, Louise DeLong, and June grounds. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Gene Pope, Fred Hawkins, Royce Dyer, Shawn Mashburn, Duane
Dyer,
and Scott Corn. The following gentlemen
served as Honorary Escort to the family: Fred Williams, Tim Dyer,
Dayton Dyer,
