mr. austin richard blalock

 

Mr. Austin Richard Blalock, age 58, of Dahlonega, GA died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Blalock was a native of Union County, GA who had lived in Dahlonega for several years.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late James Patrick Blalock and Annie Maude Thompson Blalock and was also preceded in death by son, Travis Blalock, sisters, Myrtice Jones and Lila Mae Lovell.

He is survived by a son, Ricky Allen Blalock, Gainesville, GA; daughter, Tracie Melinda Warren, Gainesville, GA; brothers, J.P. Blalock, Warner Robins, GA, Wallace Blalock, Americus, GA, Chris Blalock, Carleen, NC; sisters, A.J. Sims, Dahlonega, GA, and Bonnie Morgan, Cumming, GA; two grandchildren and several other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.  Rev. Phill Miller officiated.  Interment followed in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Dawson County.

mr. nando lee brown

 

Mr. Nando Lee Brown, age 79, of Cut Cane Rd., Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 following an extended illness.  Mr. Brown was born on Dec. 15, 1925 in Union County, the son of the late Ed Harrison Brown and the late Voleta Nix Brown.  He retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company of Copperhill with over sixteen years of service.  He was a Veteran of the US Navy of WWII.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalee Flowers Brown in 1998.  Mr. Brown was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Brown are one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Charlie Brown of Culberson, NC, two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles (Jeff) and Clea Brown of Ducktown, TN, Edward and Rita Brown of Murphy, one brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Doris Brown of Blairsville, eight grandchildren, Ray Rosa and Johnny Waldroup, Charles Eddie, Nathan Nando, Carol Ann, Lee and Ruth Brown, one great-grandchild, Tony Waldroup, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Mount Herman Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Raper, Rev. Scott Ware and Rev. Gene Ware officiating.  Special music was presented by Charlotte and Robert Flowers and Wiladene Ware.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Steven and Cecil Brown, Randy McClure, Max Moore, Nathan Rogers and Charles Eddie Brown.  Interment followed in the Mount Herman Baptist Church Cemetery.

mrs.  mary jane brackett

 

Mrs. Mary Jane Brackett, age 76, of Haralson Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Brackett was born on Nov. 8, 1929 in Union County, the daughter of the late Sherman Bridges and the late Lillie Collins Bridges.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.  She was preceded in death by her husband Max Brackett in 2002, a daughter, Angie Voe Brackett Miles in 1980, three brothers, Doyle, Loy and Roy Bridges, three sisters, Velva Souther, Lela Hughes and Joyce Wyatt.  Mrs. Brackett was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Brackett are two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda C. Cason of Scottsdale, AZ, J. Diane (Brackett) and Tommy Stephens of Blairsville, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Olin Hughes of Young Harris, Charlene and C.D. Griggs and Betty and Bud Rose all of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Kevin Cason, Colleen Cason, Clint Seabolt, Mary Beth Miles, Dereck Stephens and Dana Stephens, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating.  Special music was presented by Patricia Cook and Scott Lance.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, James Bridges, Paul Maggio, Joe White, Steve Hill, Will Craig and Derek Stephens.  Interment followed in the Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.

mr. tom lester loyd

 

Mr. Tom Lester Loyd, PA, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at his home after bravely fighting cancer for over six years.  Mr. Loyd was born on Oct. 13, 1946 in Atlanta, GA, the son of Robert Loyd and Ruth Rogers Loyd.  Tom and his family moved from Hudson, FL to Blairsville in 2001 where he was employed at the Hillcrest Clinic was a Physician’s Assistant.  He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War where he served as a Medic.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Rubert in 1999.  Tom was a devoted and loving husband and father.  He loved the Lord and was a devout Christian.

Surviving Mr. Loyd are his loving wife of over twenty years, Lisa Culp Loyd of Blairsville, two loving sons, Daniel and Noah Loyd of Blairsville, his parents, Robert and Ruth Loyd of Atlanta, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with George Georgiou officiating.  Special music was presented by Vernal Richardson.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Doug Loyd, Chad Deyton, Harrison Garner, Daniel Loyd, Noah Loyd and Joe Garner.  Interment followed in the Holly Hill Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

mrs. marian elizabeth crawford

 

Mrs. Marian Elizabeth Crawford, age 85 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 at Union County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Crawford was born Saturday, September 11, 1920 in Brevard County, NC to the late Cosi V. Johnson and Mary Wallen Johnson.  She moved to Blairsville 30 years ago from Marietta, GA.  A member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County, United Methodist Women and Order of the Eastern Star, she was preceded in death by husband, Joffre “Jock” Crawford, brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Jack Johnson.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Mickey and Bill Dodge of Savannah, GA, brother, Clifford Johnson of Weaverville, NC, sisters, Nancy Browning of Weaverville, NC, Frances Parris of Bryson City, NC and Betty Banks of Dalton, GA, grandchildren, Mary Beth and Ted Baskin of Marietta, GA, grandson, Colin Meaders of Marietta, GA, granddaughter, Kathryn McDougall of Savannah, GA, grandson, George Meaders of jasper, GA, special friend, Lisa Ray, great grandson, Tabor Martin, great granddaughter, Mary Kathryn Martin.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  Music was provided by Jeff Bauman and Cheryl Morris.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were: Colin Meaders, George Meaders, Tabor Martin, Ted Baskin, Mickey Jones, and Terry Jones. 

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Union County Nursing Home Employee Benevolent Fund, 550 Nursing Home Circle, Blairsville, Georgia 30512.

mr. james perrry camp

 

Mr. James Perry Camp, age 75 of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Kennesaw, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Union County Nursing Home.

Mr. Camp was born Tuesday, January 7, 1930 in Columbus, GA to the late James Perry Camp and the late Edith Estelle Braswell Camp.   James worked as a maintenance supervisor with the Devereux Center.  He then worked in carpentry and as a carpet layer after which he serves for 2 years in the U.S. Navy during WW II.  After returning home to Kennesaw, GA he went to work with Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta as a change representative.  James retired from Lockheed, and after the death of his first wife, Jean Schook Camp, he moved to Blairsville.  James met his present wife, Estelle and they were married in Choestoe Baptist Church in 1984 where he was a member.  James was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Banister and a daughter, jean Camp.

Survivors include: wife, Estelle Camp of Blairsville, GA, son, Scott Camp of Blairsville, GA, daughter, Anna Jean Peace of Baxter, TN and daughter, Cindy Lee Brewster of Marietta, GA.  3 grandchildren, 8 nephews and 2 nieces also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Choestoe Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Dick Stillwell officiating.  A eulogy was provided by his niece, JoAnn Travis.  Music was provided by the Choestoe Baptist Church Choir.  Interment was in Choestoe Cemetery with graveside military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Choestoe Baptist Church Building Fund.

mr. elmer h. hubbard

 

Mr. Elmer H. Hubbard, age 94, of Yorktown, Indiana, formerly of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005 at the residence of his daughter, Carolyn.

Mr. Hubbard had been preceded in death by his wife, Jane; and by his son, Jack.

Surviving family members include son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Betty Hubbard, of Wellington, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Fred W. and Emily Hubbard, of 6 Mile, South Carolina; and daughter, Carolyn Koontz, of Yorktown, Indiana; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services were held Friday, November 25, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville, with Rev. Travis Adams officiating. officiating.
