mrs. mildred zoellick

 

Mrs. Mildred Zoellick, age 91, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 19, 1999 in Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Mrs. Zoellick was born on Saturday, July 4, 1908, in Dupage, Illinois, a daughter of the late August Ehlenburg and Bertha Mueller Ehlenburg.  She was the widow of the late Robert Zoellick and had been a homemaker.  Mrs. Zoellick had been living in this area since 1991, coming here from Lake Worth, Florida.  She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church.  Besides her husband, Mrs. Zoellick had also been preceded in death by a son, Donald, in March of 1998.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Blackmer, of Blairsville; 10 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many other relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. from, All Saints Lutheran Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to All Saints Lutheran Church.

mr. edmond king

 

Mr. Edmond King, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, November 21, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. King was born in Union County, Georgia, on Friday, October 1, 1920, a son of the late Jass King and Minnie Dillinger King.  He was a lifelong resident of this area and had been employee of a shoe manufacturing company before retiring.  Mr. King was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Leota Davenport King, of Blairsville; daughters and son-in-laws, Patsy and Wayne Loyless, of Lawrenceville, GA; Carolyn and Gary Whitman, of Douglasville, GA; Shirley and David Jones, of Smyrna, GA; Debra and Hayden Davenport, of Blairsville; and daughter, Lesia King, of Blairsville; brothers, Ovell King, Troy King, J.B. King, Vernon King, Otis King all of Blairsville; and sister, Ollie Jones, of Blairsville; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 22, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins and Rev. Guy Bradley officiating.  Special music was presented by. The Kelley Trio.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Leslie ones, Jonathan Loyless, Ray Ingram, Larry King, Raymond King, and James Burrell.  Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

mrs. mary elizabeth redding

 

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Redding, age 68, of Chestnut Oak lane, Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 19, 1999 in the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness.  Mrs. Redding was born on August 25, 1931 in Palatka, FL.  The daughter of the late Leslie T. Sanders and the late Nellie Barnette Sanders.  She was a member of the Blairsville Family Worship Center.

Surviving Mrs. Redding are her husband, Thomas Carroll Redding of Blairsville; two daughters, Sharena R. Sanders of Palatka, FL, and Connie E. Mullis, of Calihan, FL; two sons, Robert James Sanders of Palatka, FL and Corbin L. Redding of Calihan, FL; two brothers, Charles and James Sanders of Palatka, FL; eight grandchildren, Emily, Carol, Andrew, and David Sanders, Brian and Adam Mullis, Justin and Cody Redding; one great grandchild, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 21, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of mountain View Funeral He with he Rev. Bill Shaffer officiating.  Special music was presented by Joe Woodcock.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Andrew Sanders, Mike Mullis, Bobby Kirby, Rene Frechard, Luther Sandival and Justin Redding.  Interment followed in the Osborne Cemetery in Hiawassee, GA

mr. james vester england

 

Mr. James Vester England, age 66, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 1999, in Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home in Murphy.

Mr. England was born in Union County, Georgia, on Wednesday, May 17, 1933, a son of the late Aaron England and Zaddie Dyer England.  He was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a member of deacon of Pine Top Baptist Church.  Mr. England was also a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge, #114, F&AM, and Enotah Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Lee Anna Vandiver England, of Blairsville, GA, two daughters: Sarah Holbrooks, and Nancy England, both of Blairsville, GA; sister, Obie Dyer, of Blairsville; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Pine Top Baptist Church, with Rev. Harley Hunter, Rev. Jimmy Tanner, and rev. Stacy Dyer officiating.  Special music was presented by Lewis and Olene Dyer.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Crett, Larry, Jerry and R.M. Dyer.  Interment was in the church cemetery.

mr. maley paxton hamby jr.

 

Mr. Manley Paxton Hamby, Jr., age 88, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Hamby was a native of Union County.  He was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church, where he had been a member for 76 years.  Mr. Hamby served his church as Sunday School Superintendent and trustee for many years.  He had been a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge F & AM for 62 years, and served as Past  Master twice.  Mr. Hamby was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, #304, and served as past Patron three times.  He was a dedicated member of the Lions Club for many years, and was also a member of The Royal Arch.  Mr. Hamby served as his county’s Ordinary (Commissioner/Probate Judge) from 1957-1961.  Mr. Hamby’s main field of work was in road construction having retired at age 65 from Shephard’s Construction and at age 80 from Colwell’s Construction.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Almarie Atkins Hamby of Blairsville; sons and daughter in law: Glenn L. and JoAnn Hamby and Roy E. and Linda Hamby, all of Blairsville; daughter, Cheryl L. Hamby of Gainesville; sister, Mrs. Jessie Jackson; brothers, John Hoyt Hamby and Loy Hamby, both of Blairsville; 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 26, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Head and Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  Special music was presented by Anita Head Neal.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Royce, Chris, Johnny and Bill Hamby, Harold Atkins and Curtis Colwell.  Serving as honorary escort to the family were members of the Union County Lions Club, and The Masons.  Interment was in Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites presented by Allegheny Masonic Lodge.
