Mrs.
Doris Davis Post, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday,
November 21, 2008 at Union County Nursing Home in
Blairsville. Mrs. Post was born
Friday, October 22, 1920
in Newark, NJ, to the late John Davis and the late Martha Johnson Davis. She attended the House of Prayer
Interdenominational
Church in Blairsville, and had lived in Blairsville since 1978, moving
here
from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was
preceded in death by her husband, William E. Post, Jr., a foster son,
John
Lewis and a brother, John Davis.
Surviving
family members include daughter and son-in-law, Gail and William
Schober, of
Blairsville; two sisters: Evelyn Davis Nota, of South Amboy, NJ; and
Ruth Davis
butler, of Orange Park, FL; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Bonnell, of
Waretown, J;
four grandchildren: William John Schober, of Atlanta; Suzanne Schober
Orfield,
of Meadow View, VA; Beth Ann Schober Barstow, of Chesapeake, VA; and
Janice
Schober Blanchett, of Chapel Hill, TN; several nieces and nephews also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, November 24, 2008, at 2 p.m., at Cochran
Funeral
Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Bill Honaker
officiating. Special music was provided by
the HOUSE of
Prayer Church Choir. Burial followed in
the House of Prayer Cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Todd Barstow, mark Blanchett,
mark
Orfield, James Blanchett, Tyler Barstow, and Jonathan Whitesides.
The family
received friends at the funeral home Sunday, November 23, 2008, from 2
p.m.
until 4 p.m.

Mr.
Rickie
Lynn Blake, age 57, of Blue Ridge St., Blairsville, passed away on
Thursday,
Nov. 20, 2008 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Blake was born on Oct. 2, 1951 in
Cabarrus, NC, the son of the late Ules Blake and the late Marie Goode
Blake. Mr. Blake was of the Baptist
faith.
Surviving
Mr. Blake are a son, Chance Blake, and a daughter, also one sister,
Treena
Corbitt of Monroe, NC, seven brothers and five sisters-in-law, Gary
Blake of
Kannapolis, NC, Tony and sue Blake of Rimertown, NC, David and Judy
Blake of
Kannapolis, NC, Ronnie and Brenda Blake of Kannapolis, bill Blake of
Blairsville, Michael and Ellen Blake of Murphy, NC, Roger and Sue Blake
of Gold
Hill, NC, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
A memorial

Mr. David
Lynn Davenport, age 51, of Oak Tree Village, Blairsville, passed away
on
Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 in the Union General Hospital following a brief
illness. Mr. Davenport was born on Aug.
20, 1957 in
Union County, the son of the late Amos Davenport and the late Geraldean
Butts
Davenport. He was a lifelong resident of
Union County. David loved fishing, the
mountains, being outdoors, and his dogs.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He read his bible (sic) almost every
day. He was preceded in death by a
sister, Judy Dyer. Mr. Davenport was a
member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Davenport are his wife, Dora davenport of Blairsville, two
daughters and
one son-in-law, Kimberly and Tim Hughes of Blairsville, Dawn Davenport
of
Blairsville, one son, Devon Davenport of Blairsville, three sisters and
one
brother-in-law, Mechelle and Matt Durrence of Jacksonville, FL, Janie
Dyer of
Gainesville, Vannessa Dyer of Gainesville, two brothers, Jerry and
Chris
Goolsby, both of Gainesville, four grandchildren, Jacob and Israel
Davis,
Johnathan and Chandler Hughes, two special friends, Paul and Margie
Poole of
Blairsville, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many other
relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the funeral
home
chapel with the Rev. Buck Dills officiating.
Special music was presented by Joshua Dills.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Devon Davenport, Brandon Anderson, Jerry Brown, Tim
Hughes, Paul
Pool and Michael Davis. Interment
followed in the Philadelphia Baptist Church cemetery.
The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mr. Ann
Rogers, age 69, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 26,
2008 at
her home. Mrs. Rogers was born Thursday,
September 28, 1939 in Bryson City, NC.
Ann worked for many years as a radio operator for the Georgia
State
Patrol. She attended the First United
Methodist Church of Union County. Mrs.
Rogers was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Rose Helton.
Survivors
include: husband, Don Rogers of Blairsville, GA, son &
daughter-in-law,
Robby and Judy Rogers of Marietta, GA, daughter, Rena Rogers and her
husband,
Steve Duvall, of Kennesaw, GA, daughter, Jill McDaniel of Blairsville,
GA,
daughter & son-in-law, Stacy and Lawrence Fisher of Blairsville,
GA,
granddaughters, Amber, Hanna and Susanna Rogers and grandson, Dustin
McDaniel. Many other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held at11 AM Saturday, November 29, 2008 from the Chapel
of the
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Devereux officiating.
Music was provided by Mr. Jeff Bauman. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Terry Rogers, Robert Rogers, Tommy Rogers, Gary lance, Larry Lance and
Milton
Bradley.

Mr.
Blaine
Dean, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, November 28, 2008
at Union
General Hospital. Mr. Dean was born
Wednesday, June 16, 1920 in Mingo County, WV, to the late Newton and
Sara Jane
(Blankenship) Dean. He grew up in
Gilbert, WV, and graduated from Gilbert High School and then entered
the US
Navy and served until his retirement in 1962.
He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He retired to Jacksonville, FL, where he
volunteered in the naval Hospital with the Red Cross until 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion
Holbrook Dean and thirteen brothers and sisters.
Surviving
family members are: 8 sisters: Oma Montgomery of Cleveland, OH; Ruby
Robinson
of Gilbert, WV; Carrie Franklin of Chesapeake, OH; Georgia Jones of
Sacramento,
CA; Betty Vance of Davin, WV; June grant of Smithville, WV; Helen
Hendricks of
Gilbert, WV; and Rhenda Stafford of Blue Ridge, GA; and numerous nieces
and
nephews.
No services
are presently planned.

Mr.
Johnny
Ray Beaver, age 56, of Do Jones Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Thursday, Nov.
27, 2008 in Fannin County from injuries received in an automobile
accident. Mr. Beaver was born on June 4,
1952 in Union County, the son of the late Theodore Davenport and the
late Elsie
Beaver. He was a native and lifelong
resident of Union County. He was a
loving father and grandfather. Johnny
was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Davenport and a brother, J.C.
Beaver. Mr. Beaver was a member of Pine
Top Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Beaver are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sheila and Todd
Jurries of
Blairsville, Joyce and Grady Thompson of Blairsville, Michelle and
Nathan
McDavid of Blairsville, Nancy Beaver of Ft. Payne, AL, one son and
daughter-in-law, Otis and Dawn Knight of Blairsville, ten
grandchildren, Sarah
and Shawn Knight, Jonathan McDavid, Christopher and Lynette Thompson,
Kaylee
and Isaac Jurries, Kelsey, Jayden and Kassidy Knight, several aunts,
uncles and
cousins from Fannin County, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Mountain
View
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Michael
Anderson officiating. Special music was
presented by the New Life
Signers. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Tony Brown, Frank Beaver, Blue Durrance, Kenny and Lee
Beaver
and Keith Lockwood. Interment followed
in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
