mrs. lillie j. nelson everett

 

Mrs. Lillie J. Nelson Everett, age 79 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005 at her home.  Mrs. Everett was born Wednesday, March 24, 1926 in Union County, GA to the late Lonnie Seth Nelson and the late Tempia Collins Nelson.  A member of Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Everett; son, Jerry Weldon Everett; sister, Gladys Brown; and brother, Theron Nelson.

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Jim and Jan Everett of Clermont, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Adams of Blairsville, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Brenda and Benny Crawford of Morganton, GA, sisters, Mary Seabolt and R. Idell Nix, both of Blairsville, GA, sister, Pearl Hutson of Ball Ground, GA, grandsons, Jeremy Adams, Chad Everett and Michael Adams, grandson, PO1 Seth J. Crawford, USN and his wife Rebecca and granddaughter, Cadey Everett.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Young, Rev. Bryan Mason and Rev. Evan Hughes officiating.  Music was provided by the Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Choir and Wayne Everett.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jeremy Adams, PO1 Seth J. Crawford, USN, Michael Adams, Chad Everett, Charles Hughes, and Byron Hutson.  Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.

mr. thomas albert vanderbilt

 

Mr. Thomas Albert Vanderbilt, age 80, of Blairsville, GA, peacefully passed away at home on December 1, 2005.  Tom was born on December 13, 1924 in Newark, New York to the late Albert and Aleda Hall Vanderbilt.  He had resided in Vero Beach, Florida for 15 years and moved to Blairsville 3 years ago.  He was a former resident of Cameron, NY and Williamson, NY.  Tom graduated from Williamson Central High School where he was a MVP basketball player.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps.  He was a retired employee of Xerox Corp.  Tom enjoyed many outdoor sports and was a former member of the Bath County Club.  He was preceded in death by wife, Jean Vanderbilt.  Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Debra and Randy Thomas of Bath, NY; son, Thomas Vanderbilt of Cameron, NY; 3 grandchildren: Laurie, Steven and Jennifer Warner; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Gail Vanderbilt of East Williamson, NY, several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Barbara Adair of Blairsville, GA.  No services are planned.  The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.  You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.

mr. james perry camp, jr.

 

Mr. James Perry Camp, Jr., age 75 of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Kennesaw, Georgia, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 after spending 5-1/2 years in Union County Nursing Home.

Mr. Camp was born Tuesday, January 7, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia, to the late James Perry Camp, Sr. and the late Edith Estelle Braswell Camp.

James retired from Devereux Center as a maintenance supervisor.  He then worked in carpentry and as a carpet layer after which he serves for 2 years in the U.S. navy during WW II.  After returning home to Kennesaw, GA he went to work with Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta as a change representative.  James retired from Lockheed, and after the death of his first wife, Jean Schook Camp, he moved to Blairsville.

James met his present wife, Estelle and they were married in Choestoe Baptist Church in 1984 where he was a member.  James was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Banister and a daughter, Jean Camp.

Survivors include: wife, Estelle Camp of Blairsville, GA, son, Scott Camp of Blairsville, GA, daughter, Anna Jean Peace of Baxter, TN and daughter, Cindy Lee Brewster of Marietta, GA.  Brother-in-law, Herman Banister of Kennesaw; 3 grandchildren, 8 nephews and 2 nieces; Donna Hamilton and Joanna Travis, both of Kennesaw, Georgia.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Choestoe Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Dick Stillwell officiating.  A eulogy was provided by his niece, JoAnn Travis.  Music was provided by the Choestoe Baptist Church Choir.  Interment was in Choestoe Cemetery with full graveside military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Choestoe Baptist Church Building Fund.

gerald r. allen

 

Mr. Gerald R. Allen, age 70, of Blairsville, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2005 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tommy White officiating.  Interment followed in the Rolling Hills Memory Garden.

Mr. Allen was a retired Brick Mason and attended the faith Family Church.

Survivors include his sons, Tommy Allen of Emerson, Wayne Allen of Acworth, Kerry Allen of Woodstock, and Danny Allen of Cartersville; brother, Jackie Allen of Blairsville; sisters, Geraldine Roper of Acworth and Christine Cosby of Washington, GA; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.

byrdena olga derriso

 

Mrs. Byrdena Olga Derriso, age 79, of Chrisman Rd., Blairsville, formerly of Leesburg, FL, passed away on Thursday Dec. 1, 2005 at her home following an extended illness.  She was born on Dec. 12, 1925 in Tampa, FL, the daughter of the late Tony Leto and the late Rita Torrinto Leto.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Moscoe Derriso.  Mrs. Derriso was a member of the House of Prayer.

Surviving Mrs. Derriso are one daughter and son in law, Rita and Jack Brown of Leesburg, FL, one sister, Rose Hopey of Black Mountain, NC, one brother, Peter Leto of AL, one grandson, a dear friend Lucille Cislak, of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity in Mrs. Derriso’s memory. Special music was presented by
