Rev. Alan
Steven
Becker age 64 of Lake Nottley Drive, Blairsville went to be with his
Lord on
Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following a
battle with
cancer. Rev. Becker was born on May 6,
1947 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Henry Becker and the late
Constance
Silver Becker. Alan was the founder
(1999) and pastor of the Immanuel House Christian Worship in Center in
Blairsville. He was a loving husband,
father, brother and grandfather. Over
the years through Immanuel House, Alan helped many families and
individuals by
providing shelter, counseling and finding employment. He
will be greatly missed by his family,
friends and the community.
Surviving
Rev.
Becker are his loving wife of thirty-one years, Connie Walker Becker of
Blairsville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Steven and Brenda
Becker Jr.
of Paramus, NJ, Todd and Susan Garrick of Dahlonega, one daughter,
Kimberly
Garrick of Blairsville, one brother, David Becker of Denver, CO, six
grandchildren, Austin, Savannah and Althea Garrick, Jonathan, Aiden and
Savannah Brundage, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service
will be held on Saturday Dec. 10, 2011 at 3 p.m. from the Immanuel
House Church
with Pastor Connie Becker officiating. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be
made to
the Immanuel House Church, 139 Wren Drive Blairsville, GA 30512 in
Alan’s
memory. The family will meet with
friends at the church on Saturday from 2-3 p.m.

Joyce
Newman Sanford, age 72, of
Blairsville, died on November 27, 2011.
She was born in Commerce on November 7, 1939 to the late Donald
Newman
and the late Margie Trotter Newman. She
was a wonderful sister, wife, and a very loving person.
Her parting words to her husband were, “I
will praise the Lord forever. She will
be sorely missed.
Surviving
are: husband, Raymond Sanford of Blairsville; step daughter and
son-in-aw, Lisa
and Hal McClish of Palm Harbor, FL; step sons and daughters-in-law,
Troy and
Sandi Sanford of Dallas, TX, Steven and Janice Sanford of West
Columbia, SC,
Scott and Debbie Sanford, of St. Petersburg, SC; sister and
brother-in-law,
Alice and Joel Davis of Monroe; brother, Marvin Timothy Neman of
Johnson, SC;
and 10 step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on
Tuesday, November 29th at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev.
Lee
Brown officiating. Interment followed at
High Shoals Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

Mary
Groves Weaver, 81, formerly of
Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at Hardee manor Care
Center
in Wauchula, FL.
She was born Dec. 20, 1929 in Warne,
NC and grew up in Blairsville. She had
been a resident of Sebring, FL for many years.
She was an artist and enjoyed drawing outdoor scenery and
caricatures.
She was
preceeded
(sic) in death by one son, Mack Weaver, her parents Verlin and Jessie
Sampson
Groves, also, 3 brothers, Tom Groves, Grady Groves and Ray Groves.
Mary is
survived by
4 daughters: Nanci Wimpey and husband J. R. of Jonesboro, GA, Sharon
“Twiggy”
Weaver of Wauchula, Dianne Welch and husband Jerry of Wauchula, and
Lisa Weaver
of Fort Meade, FL, two sons, Keith Weaver and wife Cheryl of
Blairsville, GA,
and Robin Weaver of Fort Meade, FL; three brothers, Bill Groves of
Ramona, CA,
Jay Groves of Social Circle, GA, and Jack Groves of Monroe, GA; one
sister,
Lorene Bryant of Blairsville, GA, 19 grandchildren; 41 great
grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Her
graveside
service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10th, at Old Brasstown

in Young Harris, GA.

"Michael" Mashburn, age 41 of Blairsville, passed away November 27,
2011 at the Union General Hospital. Michael
was born February 23, 1970 to James "Clifford" Mashburn and Tressie
Callahan Mashburn. He was Baptist in
faith. He was preceded in death by
grandparents,
Luther and Ethel Callahan of Blue Ridge, and Roy and Ivalee Mashburn of
Mineral
Bluff.
Survivors

Mr.
James Michael McIntyre, age 62, of Rex Payne Rd., Blairsville, passed
away
Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. McIntyre was born January 7, 1949 in
Rockland Lake, NY. He moved to
Blairsville 16 years ago. He was an avid
sports player, loved to talk to people, loved the mountains and hiking,
and
being with family. He was a big Notre
Dame fan. He was a loving husband, son,
father, brother and grandfather. Mr.
McIntyre was preceded in death by his father, James McIntyre. He was of the Catholic Faith.

include his wife Kathleen McIntyre of Blairsville, mother, Katherine
