Mr.
Julian
Lewis Grant III, age 57, of Brown Ridge Drive, Blairsville, passed away
on
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 in the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta following an
extended
illness. Mr. Grant was born on Jan. 5,
1952 in Miami, FL, the son of the late Julian Grant Jr. and the late
Martha Jean
Dillard Grant. Julian liked working with
people in NA to help them get their lives back on the right track. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather,
and great grandfather. Mr. Grant
attended the Blairsville Church of God.
Surviving Mr.
Grant are his loving wife, Rhonda Davidson Grant of Blairsville, mother
Martha
Jean Dillard Grant of Ft. Myers, FL, six children, charlotte Grant of
Nashville, TN, Julian IV and Ashley Grant of Blairsville, Lori and Rob
Paul of
Pinkard, AL, Shaun Grant of Blairsville, Donnie DeLong of Atlanta,
Amanda
Christy of Blairsville, one sister and brother-in-law, Cathee and Judge
Ford of
Arcadia, FL, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Della Grant of
Morganton
GA, Mark and Sharon Grant of Ft. Myers, FL, special friends, Holly
Albietz,
Amanda Patterson, both of Blairsville, Amanda Mosher of Mineral bluff,
eight
grandchildren, Riley, Kala, Kanishea, Destiny, Julian V, Brian, Nick,
Lanna and
Kewanna, one great grandchild, Shaide, many other relatives and friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Leon McDonald officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Timmy Grant, Steven Beaver,
Kevin
Frierson and Dewayne Melton. The family
met
with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mr.
Lawrence
Elmer Harris, age 81, of Cardinal Peak Drive, Blairsville, passed away
on
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Harris was born on Feb. 1, 1929 in
Clendenin, WV, the son of the late Herbert Clyde Harris and the late
Vitillis
Virginia Byrd Harris. He was a veteran
of the US Marines of WWII. He was a
member of the Masonic Lodge of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia. Mr. Harris was a member of Shady Grove
Methodist
Church.
Surviving Mr.
Harris are one son, David Harris of Blairsville, two daughters and one
son-in-law, Diane and Michael Peters of N. palm Beach, FL, Deborah
Scott of
Daytona Beach, FL, one sister, Emma Shafer of Pinchwest, VA, ten
grandchildren,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation
in memory
of Mr. Harris.

Mr.
Charles Edward Mellendorf, age 85, of Spring Lake Drive, Blairsville,
passed
away on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Mellendorf was born on April 7, 1924 in
Chicago, IL, the son of the late Frank Mellendorf and the late Helen
Woodruff
Mellendorf. He was a veteran of the US
Army of WWII and landed on Utah Beach.
His unit liberated a concentration camp at Mauthausen. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera
Hale. Mr. Mellendorf was a member of All
Saints Lutheran Church.
Surviving Mr.
Mellendorf are his loving wife of nineteen years, Marsha Stifel

Blairsville, children, David and Cindy Mellendorf of Blairsville,

Mrs.
Joan Marie Booth, age 78, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Murphy, NC,
passed
away December 4, 2009 at Union County Nursing Home.
Joan was
born on June 20, 1931 in Suffolk County, NY, to the late Thomas and
Mary
McCourt Bradley. She was a member of St.
William Catholic Church, Murphy and was preceded in death by first
husband,
James Ireland, second husband, Robert Booth, son, Johnny Ireland and
sister,
Sally Bradley.
Survivors
include: daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Johnny
Kierbow of Murphy, NC, son, Tim Ireland of LaGrange, GA, four

In loving
memory of Lenita Eunice Zollinger. She was born October
7, 1915 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2009. She was ninety-four years old.
Lenita
was preceded in death by three sisters and two
brothers. Survivors are daughter, Gloria
Eslinger and son-in-law, Ralph Eslinger of Twin Falls, ID, and son, Ken
Zollinger and daughter-in-law, Tani Zollinger from Blairsville. She had six grandchildren, Mike
Eslinger,
Janet Corle, Don, Dan and David Zollinger and Cathy Curtis, sixteen
great
grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She
was a well-beloved mother and
grandmother.
Graveside
services were held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 1 p.m. from Choestoe
Baptist
church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating.
Special music was presented by Ray Curtis.

Wanda
M. Crisp, 69, of Murphy died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 as the result of
injuries
sustained in an automobile accident. She
was a native of Union County, BA, but had been living in Cherokee
County. Wanda had worked for Georgia Boot
and
Owenbys. She was a member of the Old
Fashioned Baptist Church.
Surviving
are her husband, James H. Crisp; a daughter, Sherry arrant of
Hildebran, NC;
four sons, Steve Crisp of Melbourne, FL, David and Mike Crisp both of
Blairsville, GA, and Tony crisp of Cleveland, TN; a sister, Ruth Queen
of
Hoschton, GA; two brothers, Ronald and Roy Phillips both of
Blairsville; and 13
grandchildren and a great grandson.
Funeral
services were held at 2 PM Monday, Dec. 7 in the Chapel of the Ivie
Funeral
Home, Murphy with Pastor Hoyt Brown and Rev. Lee Tanner officiating. Interment was in the Mount Liberty Baptist
Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arvil
Cook, Jack Brown, Charles King, Josh Dills, Terry Sosebee and Dwayne
Henson.
The family
received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie funeral Home,
Murphy.

Wheeler (Rowe) Campbell of Danvers, formerly of Blairsville, GA,
Englewood, FL,
& Lynnfield, MA, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on
Friday,
December 4, 2009. Born in Portland, ME,
she was the daughter of the late Allen B. and Dorothy (Wheeler) Rowe,
Sr.
She was a
graduate of Waynflete School in Portland and
attended Westbrook Junior College. Betty
was a homemaker and devoted mother whose interests included gardening,
sewing,
knitting, baking and traveling. She was
also involved with scouting, hosting international students and church
activities.
Elizabeth
is survived by her loving husband of more than
sixty years, Spencer W. Campbell, her adoring children Scott D.
Campbell and
his wife Janice of Pawtucket, RI, Meredith DeGuglielmo and her husband
Stephen
of Danvers, MA, Jonathan W. Campbell and his wife Alison Colby-Campbell
of
Haverhill, MA, Jeffery S. Campbell and his wife Rebecca of Bradenton
FL, David
D. Campbell of Danvers, MA, and the late Bruce A. Campbell and his wife
Joan of
Sussex, WI. She was the sister of Allen
B. Rowe, Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, ME. She
also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren,
one great-great grandson and a niece and nephew.

B. Parham, age 87, of Athens, GA, died December 2, 2009.
A native of Union County, GA, the son of the
late Hershel Parham and Etta Stiles Parham, he was also preceded in
death by
his wife, Clyde Wheeles Parham; sisters Bernice Gibby and Hazel Dowdy;
and
brother, Harold Parham.
Mr. Parham
served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the battles of Bismarck,
Archipelago,
New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.
He was a retired employee of General Time.
He is
survived by his stepson and wife, Jerry and Myrtle
Hall of Bogart, son, Neal Parham of Dalton; daughter Colleen Parham of
Dalton,
brother, Herbert Parham and sister Evelyn Deyton, both of Blairsville,
GA, 9
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
