Mrs.
Lois Mandigo, age 77, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday,
December 5,
1997 in Union County, Georgia.
Mrs.
Mandigo was born October 5, 1920, in Duval County, Florida,
a daughter of to the late James Lindsey and Olive Porter Lindsey. She was a homemaker. Mrs.
Mandigo had been living in the
Blairsville area since 1988, coming from Palm Springs, Florida. She was a former resident of Binghamton,
NY. She was a member of Faith Baptist
Church and also a member of the Venerable Sages.
Surviving
are husband, Larry Mandigo, of Blairsville; daughter, Carol Mandigo of
Sarasota, FL.; son, Brian Mandigo, of Lafayette, NY; son, Joseph
Mandigo of
Royal Palm beach, FL; and son, James Mandigo, of West palm Beach, FL;
sisters,
Louise Crawford of Chicago, IL., and Florence Keogh of Los Banos, CA.;

grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren also survive, along with many
nieces and
nephews.
Memorial
services were Sunday, December 7, 1997 at 3 p.m. from Faith Baptist
Church with
pastor James Brock officiating.

Mrs.
Ava Lue Vennie Sisum Woody, age 76, of 3900 Back Home Road, Suches,
Georgia,
died Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at the Chestatee Regional Hospital in
Dahlonega, GA, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wood was a native of Etowah, Tennessee who had lived in
Union
County most of her life. She was a
caring mother and loving wife, and was a member of the Pleasant Valley
Baptist
Church in Union County. She was preceded
in death by her husband, John Young Woody and son, John Henry Woody.
She is
survived by sons and daughter-in-laws, Jimmy Wayne and Betty Jean
Woody,
Suches, Paul David and Martha Diana Woody, Suches; daughters and
son-in-laws,
Martha Jane and Theodore Miller, Suches, Patricia and Jimmy LeCroy,
Suches,
Wanda Woody, Gainesville, GA.; brothers, Marshall “Buck” Sisum,
Gainesville,
GA. Land Jake Sisum, Cleveland, GA.; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen
great
grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, December 5, 1997 at the
Banister
Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega with Rev. Doug Collins and Rev. Bobby
Baker officiating. Interment was held in
the Woody Cemetery in
Suches, GA.

Homer
Helton, age 96, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December
1, 1997.
Mr.
Helton was born in Union County, Georgia, on September
1, 1997 (sic) a son of the late Will Helton and Vina Garrett Helton. He was a lifelong resident of this area, and
a farmer, and had attended Fairview Baptist Church. to
the late and the late.
Surviving
are his daughter, Ila Mae Weaver, of Blairsville; son, Claude Helton,
of
Blairsville; son, Clarence Helton, of Blairsville; son, Clyde Helton,
of
Riverdale, Ga; daughter, Idel Helton, of California; son, Carl Helton,
Calvin
Helton, and Clayton Helton, all of Gainesville; sister, Lillar Woody of
Hiawassee, many step children, many grandchildren, great grandchildren,
great
great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at 11 a.m. from the
chapel of
Cochran funeral (sic) Home of Blairsville with Rev. Horace Pots and
Rev. Tommy
Jones officiating. Special music was
presented by Judy Spiva, Louise DeLong, and Sarah Kelley.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Scotty Helton, James
Weaver, Terry Helton, Boyd Weaver, Nathan Helton, and Jason Helton. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mrs.
Pearl Elliott, age 78, of Gainesville, Georgia, and formerly of union
County,
Georgia, passed away Sunday, November 30, 1997 in Northeast Georgia
Medical
Center in Gainesville, following a sudden illness.
Mrs.
Elliott was born Union County, and moved to Gainesville
in 1972. She was the daughter of the
late Tommy and Lena Elliott. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church.
Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her
husband, Robert Kiser Elliott, and sons Glover Elliott and Anthony
Elliott.
Surviving
are sons and daughters in law, Glenn D. and Marie Elliott, of Suches,
Georgia;
J.D. and Pat Elliott, of Gainesville; Isabelle Waters of Blue Ridge,
Georgia;
brothers: Melvin Towe, L.J. Towe, Franklin Towe, Harold Towe, J. Edward
Towe,
Tommy Jr. Towe, all of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, December 2nd, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Memorial
Park
Funeral Home in Gainesville with Rev. Gary Osteen and Rev. Charles
Fultz
officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion
Baptist Church Cemetery.
