mrs. margie mae beaver raper

 

Mrs. Margie Mae Beaver Raper, age 70 of Loving Road, Morganton, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 in the Murphy Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Raper was born on May 10, 1932 in Union County, the daughter of the late Ernest Raper and the late Vestie Thomas Raper.  She was a native and life long resident of Union County.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, hazel Hughes and Eva Lee Garmon, and by three brothers, Tasker Beaver, Albert Beaver and Robert Beaver.  Mrs. Raper was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Raper are her loving husband of fifty two years, James (Jim) Raper of Morganton; three daughters and son-in-laws, Elizabeth and Kenneth Beavers of Acworth, Judy Raper and Johnny Mason of Brasstown, NC, Sandra and Randall Sneed of Murphy, NC; one half sister, Jean Davenport of Morganton; two half brothers, Lawrence Beaver of Morganton, Don Beaver of Blairsville; Four grandchildren, Steven Towe, Tracy Wintermute, Misty Havard and Marian Beavers; two great grandchildren, Dakota Havard and Olivia Towe, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 5, 2002 at 2 p.m. from the Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Harper, Rev. Jerry Rice and Rev. Danny Patterson officiating.  Special music was presented by Rev. Luther Thomas.  The following served as pallbearers, Misty Havard, Tracy Wintermute, Steven Towe, Eddie Beaver, Robert Havard, Johnny Patterson, David Patterson and John Mason III.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

mr. richard “dick” lewandowski

 

Mr. Richard “Dick” Lewandowski, age 64, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 1, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia

Mr. Lewandowski was born in Lucas County, Ohio, on Monday, September 12, 1938, a son of the late Lawrence and Mary Mieczkowski Lewandowski.  He had lived in Blairsville since 1994, moving here from Ft. Myers, Florida.  Mr. Lewandowski and his wife were past owners of The Dough House Restaurant in Blairsville.  He was a member of the Coosa United Methodist Church, and had been preceded in death by a son, Rick, who past away last year.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bev Lewandowski, of their home; children: Lori and Robert VanAtta, of Findlay, Ohio; Linda and Matt Hinck, of Riverside, California; J.C. and Deneen Lewandowski, of Cape Coral, Florida; Stepchildren: Vicki and Bob Barnes, of Bristow, Oklahoma; Valerie and Dale Patton, of Independence, Kansas; Vanessa and John Murphy, of Atlanta; and Andrew and Sheila Brown, of St. Augustine, Florida; two sisters: Dorothy Kachmarik, of Toledo, Ohio, and Loretta Kotaich, of Florence, Oregon; two brothers: Larry Lewandowski, of Toledo, Ohio and Danny Lewandowski, of Parma, Ohio; Eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at 11 a.m. from the Coosa United Methodist Church in Blairsville, with Rev. Jon Herrin officiating.  Special music was presented by Mr. John Gurley and Mrs. Ida Lou Bishop.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Charlie Rothwell, Jr., Charlie Rothwell, Sr., John Murphy, Christ Rothwell, John Gurley, and Larry Lewandowski.  Interment was in the church cemetery.

donald eugene denton

 

Mr. Donald Eugene Denton, age 75, of Rock Creek Rd., Suches, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Denton was born on March 6, 1927 in Hammond, IN, the sone of the late Henry Denton and the late Zola Yoakam Denton.  He was a veteran of the US Army in WWII where served as a gunner 101.  Mr. Denton was a chef in Aniheim, CA, Chicago and Denton, TX for several years.  He was last employed with the Rock Creek Café, where he was famous for his cakes and pies.  Mr. Denton was of the Catholic Faith.

Surviving Mr. Denton are two ex-wives, Elizabeth Denton & Family of Hammond, IN and Rosi Barretta & Family of Fullerton, CA; one sister and brother in law, Doris and John Carr of Ellijay; niece, Karen Dimitrowicz of Bloomfield, IN; nephews, Kevin Carr of Blue Ridge, Kent Carr of Cottonwood, AZ; very special friends, John Samon, Cheryl Cahill, Vince Wehage, Dr. Stephen Treon, Tyler Warren and Charles Gavin Treon, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg officiating.  Special music will be presented by Wanda Gardner.  The North GA Honor Guard will be conducting military honors.  The family will meet with friends at the funeral home following the services.

ruby mae carver towe

 

Mrs. Ruby Mae Carver Towe, age 91, of Towe Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Towe was born on Dec. 1, 1911 in Andrews, NC, the daughter of the late Charlie W. Carver and the late Lelia Battle Carver.  She was a lifelong resident of Union County.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Z. Towe in 1993, a son, William Harlie Towe in 1964, by five brothers, Claude, Bruce, Boyd, Clyde, and Glen Towe, by four sisters, Norma, Hildred, Clara Belle and Hattie and by two great grandchildren.  Mrs. Towe was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Towe are four daughters and son in laws, Lillie Mae and Charles Jarvis of Buford, GA, Lorene and Randall Walker of Lenoir, TN, Wilma and Kenneth Stover of Blairsville, Ruth and Radar Reynard of Blairsville; two sons and daughter in laws, Paul and Jenny Towe of Ball Ground, Jim and Sheila Towe of Blairsville; twenty five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, twenty nine step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, four step great great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones, Rev. Junior Towe and Rev. Dwayne Patterson officiating.  Special music was presented by Kim Armistead.  The grandsons served as pallbearers, Neal and Sam Jarvis, Mike, Steven, Darren, and Derrick Towe, Travis and Dale Walker, Gary and Marty Ledford and Anthony Cruse.  Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
