MRS. martha parker barnard

 

Mrs. Martha (better known as Marty) Caroline Parker Barnard, age 41, of Winder, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2000 in Gastonia, NC from injuries received in an automobile accident.  Mrs. Barnard was born on March 11, 1959 in Marietta, GA, the daughter of Jack J. parker and Peggy C. McEver Parker.  She had attended The House of Prayer Church before moving to the Winder area.  She was a registered nurse and had graduated Union County High School in 1978.

Surviving Mrs. Barnard are her loving husband, Steven Barnard; two daughters, Jamie E. Marshall and Lauren K. Barnard all of Winder; parents, Jack and Peggy Parker of Blairsville; one brother, Jeffrey L. Parker of Gastonia, NC; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 7, 2000 at 2 pm from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  Special music was presented by The Kelly Trio.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Myles Smith, Jimmy Shelnutt, Christa Doss, Gary McDonald, Andrew Turnage, and Johnie Garmon.  Interment followed in The House of Prayer Church Cemetery.

MR. narvel allen sparks

 

Mr. Narvel Allen Sparks, age 57, of Smyrna, formerly of Blairsville, passed away Saturday evening, December 9, 2000 at his home.

Mr. Sparks was a native of union County, a son of Robert Narvel and Della Mae Brown Sparks.  He was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church and a Vietnam War Veteran.  He had lived and worked in the Atlanta area for the past 34 years.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Odom Sparks of the home; daughter, Trina Borts of Powder Springs; son, Allen Sparks of Dallas, GA; brother, Walter Sparks of Austell, GA; sister, Clara Sparks Foster of Blairsville; and two grandchildren, Megan Borts and Nathan Sparks.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 am, Tuesday, December 12, 2000 from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, Blairsville, with Rev. Avery Beaver and Rev. Luther Thomas officiating.  Music was provided by Kenneth and Elaine Young, Luther Thomas, and Charlotte Young.

Interment was in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with David Davenport, Danny Davenport, Damon Davenport, Mike Jones, Charles Brown, and David Brown serving as pallbearers.

MRS. donnie mason young

 

Mrs. Donnie Mason Young, age 92, of Blairsville, passed away early Saturday morning, December 9, 2000 in the Union County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Young was a lifelong resident of Union County and a member of Providence Methodist church.  She had been a school teacher in Union County for 33 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey in 1993.

Survivors include her son, Curtis Young of Blairsville, and two grandchildren, Cody Young and Chandra Young, both of Blairsville.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, 2000 at 11 am from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Brent Chatham and Rev. jerry Karnes officiating.  Music was provided by the Kelley Trio.  Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were Wade Mason, Worth Mason, Elmer Thompson, Charles Mason, J.M. Grizzle and Rex Owenby.
