Miss
Lillian L. Kelley, 82, of Blairsville, Georgia,
passed away Saturday, December 2, 1995 in Union County Nursing Home in
Blairsville.
Miss
Kelley was born in Union County, Georgia, on March 7, 1913, daughter of
the
late John Bascomb Kelley and Gertrude Weaver Kelley.
She was a lifelong resident of Union County
and a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County.
Surviving
are four brothers: Ray F. Kelley, of Buford, Georgia, Ira C. Kelley, of
Atlanta, Neal Kelley, of Blairsville; and Tom R. Kelley of Morrow,
Georgia;
several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, December 4, 1995 at 11:00 AM from the chapel
of the
Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Darby officiating.
Special music was presented by Susie Phillips, Louise DeLong,
and June
Grounds. Nephews served as
pallbearers. Interment was in Providence
Methodist church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Muriel Elener Barton, 90, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Saturday, December 2, 1995 in Chatuge Regional
Hospital in
Hiawassee, Georgia.
Mrs.
Barton was born in Grandrapids, Minnesota, on December 25, 1904,
daughter of
the late Charles and Frances Pugh. She
had lived in this area for the past four years, coming here from
Florida. Mrs. Barton was of the Methodist
faith.
She
is survived by her daughter, Shirley Albert, of Blairsville; four
grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Monday December 4, 1995 at 2:30 PM from the chapel
of
Kopicki Heritage Funeral Home in Berwyn, Illinois, with interment in
Mr. (sic)
Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, Illinois.

Mr.
Dennis G. Cordell, 38, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
December 3,
1995 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mr.
Cordell was born in Towns County Georgia, on January 12, 1957, a son of
William
Cordell and Bonnie Virginia Crowder Cordell.
He was a lifelong resident of this area and attended Zion Hill
Baptist. Mr. Cordell was a member of the
Blairsville
Jaycees.
Surviving
are his mother, Bonnie Cordell, of
Blairsville; two
brothers, Danny Cordell of Blairsville and Benny Cordell, of Atlanta;
many
other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside
services were held Tuesday, December 5 1995 at 2:00 PM from Ivy Log
Baptist
Church Cemetery with Rev. Tony Roberson officiating.

Mr.
Harold Paul Kirkwood, 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Saturday,
December 2, 1995 at his home.
Mr.
Kirkwood was a native of Oklahoma, and a
veteran of
the U.S. army and served during World war II.
He had lived in this are for the past 1 ½ years, coming from
Blue Ridge,
Georgia. Mr. Kirkwood was a member of
the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Marguerite Lemley Kirkwood, of the home; step son,
Mark
Tuttle, of Blue Ridge; step daughter, Marcia Lazaroff; of Arizona; and
sister,
Thelma Gibson, of Wichita, Kansas.
Memorial
services were held Wednesday, December 6, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the

Mrs.
Bernice Rita Davis, 82, part time resident of Blairsville
and Boca Raton, Florida, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 1995 in Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Davis was born in Illinois on January 17, 1913, a daughter of the late
Joseph
and Elizabeth Mikniewicz. She was a
homemaker and attended St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving
are daughter, Rita Demarco, of Blairsville; son, Stanley Davis, of Oak
Brook,
Illinois; sisters, Lillian Matchus, of Melrose Park, Illinois, and Nell
Rozanski, of Villa Park, Illinois; five grandchildren and five great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, December 9, 1995 with prayers at 9:15 AM
from
Pedersen Ryberg Mortuary in Elmhurst, Illinois with 10:00 AM mass at
St. John The Apostle Catholic Church in
Villa Park. Burial was in Queen of Heaven
Cemetery in
Hillside, Illinois.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart
Association.

Mr.
John Jarrett Turner, Sr. 98, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Friday,
December 1, 1995 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
Turner was born in Madisonville, Tennessee, on May 19, 1897, a son of
the late
James Lon Turner and Susie Duckworth Turner.
Mr. Turner was a veteran of World War I, and had served for over
20
years as a teacher in Union County and for 17 years as Tax Commissioner. For the past many years, he continued to
farm. Mr. Turner lived in this area for
most of his life, and was a member Old Liberty Baptist Church and of
Allegheny
Masonic Lodge #114 F. & A. M.; of Choestoe Odd Fellows Lodge, and
The
American Legion, Woodrow Wilson, Chapter #121.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Nix Turner, in 1988,
and a
son, William Price Turner, in 1985.
Surviving
are two daughters, Roma Sue Collins of Blairsville and Sybil Owenby of
Clarkson, Ga; six sons: C.Y. Preston Turner John Jarrett Turner, Jr.,
Randall
D. Turner and Edward M. Turner, all of Blairsville and Dr. James Harry
Turner,
of Rome, Ga. and Lon Henry Turner of Lilburn, Ga.; two brothers: Carl
Turner of
Gainesville and Carlos Turner of Rockmart and one sister, Mary Jackson
of
Blairsville. Twenty nine grandchildren,
forty eight great grandchildren and many other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, December 3, 1995 at 4:00 PM from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. B. A. Buchanan
officiating. Eulogies were given by Bill
Collins and Edna Ruth Rich. Special
music was presented by Rev. and Mrs. James Geer. The
following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Bill Collins, Larry Turner,
Joe Turner, John Price Turner, Eddie Turner, Jack Turner, and Gary
Turner. Grandsons and great grandsons
served as
Honorary Escort. Military graveside
honors were presented by members of the North Georgia Honor Guard, with
interment in Union Memory gardens Cemetery in Blairsville.

Harold Franklin McCranie of Blairsville, GA passed away Monday,

1995 at his home. Mr. McCranie was born
in Fort Myers, Florida the son of Jules V. McCranie and Ella Bruton

Peterson. He was a Navy Veteran of world War II and was a retired business man. Surviving are his
wife Mrs. Susan Parramore McCranie of Blairsville, GA; sons: John C.

Mr.
George D. Patterson, 77, of Blairsville, GA
passed away Friday, December 8, 1995 in Union General Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mr.
Patterson was born in Wilcox County, GA, a son of the late Glen
Patterson and
Emma Fitzgerald Patterson. He was a U.S.
Army Veteran of World War II. Mr.
Patterson retired from Southern Bell Telephone, in March of 1981, after
35
years of service. He moved to
Blairsville in 1983, coming here from West Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Patterson was a member of First Baptist
Church of Blairsville and also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Thornton Patterson, of the home; son,
Gerald
D. Patterson, of Lake Wroth, FL; son and daughter in law, Glynn G. and
Cindy
Patterson, of Good Hope, GA; daughter and son in law, Gail and Raymond
Kemly,
of west Palm Beach, FL; Grandchildren, Robert Patterson, of Lake Worth,
Cody
Patterson, of Good Hope, and Melissa Davis, of West Palm Beach;
brother, Cecil
Patterson, of Cordele, GA; and sister, Euletha Barfield, of Macon, GA;
many
friends and other relatives also survive.

services were held Monday, December 11, 1995 at 3:00 PM from First
Baptist Church
of Blairsville with Rev. Danny Parris officiating.

Elgin J. Allen, 84, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, December
9, 1995.
Mr.
Allen was born August 11, 1911 in Fannin County, Georgia, a son of the
late
Eliga Allen and Brilla Weeks Allen. He
was retired from the Tennessee Copper Company.
Mr. Allen was a member of Hemptown Baptist Church.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by a son,
James Allen, in 1994.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Grova Mae Allen, of the home; two sons: Gerald
Allen, of
Blairsville, and Jackey J. Allen of Acworth; three daughter: Christine
Cosby,
of Thompson, GA; Geraldine Roper of Acworth, and Ella Vee Payne, of
Blairsville; a sister, Mamie Mundy, of Blue Ridge, and brother, Homer
Allen of
Dial, GA; fifteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and
two great
great grandchildren also survive.

services were held Monday, December 11, 1995 at 11:00 AM from Pleasant
Hill
Baptist Church with Rev. Willis Garrett officiating.
