mr. clarence helton

 

Mr. Clarence Helton, age 80, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 5, 2005 at his home.  Mr. Helton was born Sunday, October 11, 1925 in Union County, Georgia, to the late Homer Helton and the late Lillie Woody Helton.  Mr. Helton was member and founding trustee of House of Prayer Church.  Mr. and Mrs. Helton were the former owners of The Blairsville Restaurant.  He was a WWII Army Veteran, and proudly served his country in the Battle of the Bulge, and was a recipient of The Purple Heart.  He was preceded in  death by his wife, Elizabeth Kelley Helton; son, James Ray Helton; brother, Claude Helton, and sisters Inda King and Ila Weaver.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Janey and Bill Dyer, son & daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Helton, son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Darlene Helton, daughter & son-in-law, Trudy & James Baker, all of Blairsville, brother, Carl Helton of Gainesville, GA, brother, Calvin Helton of Taladega, AL, brother, Clayton Helton of Gainesville, GA, grandchildren, Kim and Larry Thomas, Curtis and Dale Dyer, Paige and Abraham Patrick, Zach Helton, Nathan and Tina Helton, Ashley and Fabian Torres, Joey Helton and Nikki Fields, Dustin Baker and Derrick Baker and great grandchildren, Erin, Kali and Ethan Thomas, Austin, Keaton and Lani Dyer, Matthew and Malachi Patrick, Aaron, Elijah, Noah and Kaylee Helton and Madison Torres.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. from The House of Prayer Church with Rev. Nathan Helton, Rev. Wofford Kelley, Rev. Jason Helton, Rev. Bill Honaker, Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Greg Williams officiating.  The body lay instate at the church Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m.  Music was provided by The House of Prayer Church Choir.  Interment followed in The House of Prayer Cemetery.  Military graveside honors were presented by North Georgia Honor Guard.  Servings as pallbearers were: Matthew Helton, Curtis Dyer, Joey Helton, Zach Helton, Derrick Baker, Fabian Torres, Larry Thomas and Abraham Patrick.    The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Tuesday, December 6.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family suggests memorials be made to The House of Prayer Church Family Life Center.  The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.  You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.

charles l. pierce jr.

 

Mr. Charles L. Pierce Jr., age 77, of Suches, GA died Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA following an extended illness.

Mr. Pierce was a native of Fulton County, GA who had lived in Suches for more than 40 years.  He was a retired merchant, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches.

He was the son of the late Charles L. Pierce Sr. and Ruby Mae Roberts Pierce.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Pierce, Suches, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles L. Pierce III, Suches, GA, Michael and Jeanette Pierce, Suches, GA; grandchildren: Jessica Pierce and Chris Pierce.  Several other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Zion Baptist Church in Suches with the remains placed in state at the church at 1 p.m.  Rev. Russell Lyle officiated. 

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

rev. william thomas ford

 

Rev. William Thomas Ford, age 75, of Ford Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.  Rev. Ford was born on Oct. 19, 1930 in Campbell County, TN, the son of the late Charlie Thomas Ford and the late Evelyn Marie Walden Ford.  He was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War.  He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Mark Ford in 1999 and by a great-grandchild, Madison Ford, also by five brothers and one sister.  Rev. Ford had been in the Ministry for over forty-nine years.  He was the former pastor of Eastside Freewill Baptist Church in Warren, MI, where he served as their Pastor for twenty-eight years.  Rev. Ford was the current Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church and had pastured there for the past five years.

Surviving Rev. Ford are his loving wife of fifty-four years, Marie Lucille Franklin Ford of Blairsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Brenda Ford of Clinton Township, MI, Mike and Joann Ford of MaComb Township, MI, Keith and Roberta Ford of Blairsville; one sister, Carrie Mae Jordan of Knoxville, TN; nine grandchildren: Sharyn (and husband Danny), Shannon, Steve, Jason, Melissa, Matthew, Kristy, Daniel and Justine; three great-grandchildren, Leon, Morgan and Serena; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  Special music was presented by Leon Henderson, Steve Cox and the Ebenezer Church Choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Jason, Matt and Daniel Ford, Junior Cummings, Lynn Nichols and Eric Moore.  Serving as Honorary pallbearers were Homer Powell, Leon Bauer, Tim Steele, C.D. Griggs, Hubert Plott, Johnny Nichols, Clayton Moore, and all of Tomís Fellow Ministers.  Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillie J. Nelson Everett, age 79, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005 at her home.  Mrs. Everett was born Wednesday; March 24, 1926 in Union County, GA to the late Lonnie Seth Nelson and the late Tempia Collins Nelson.  A member of Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Everett; son, Jerry Weldon Everett; sister, Gladys Brown; and brother, Theron Nelson.

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Jim and Jan Everett of Clermont, Georgia; daughter & son-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Adams of Blairsville, Georgia; daughter & son-in-law, Brenda and Benny Crawford of Morganton, Georgia; sisters, Mary Seabolt and R. Idell Nix, both of Blairsville, Georgia; sister, Pearl Hutson of Ball Ground, Georgia; grandsons, Jeremy Adams, Chad Everett and Michael Adams, grandson, PO1 Seth J. Crawford, USN and his wife Rebecca and granddaughter, Cadey Everett.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Young, Rev. Bryan Mason and Rev. Evan Hughes officiating.  Music was provided by the Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Choir and Wayne Everett.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jeremy Adams, PO1Seth J. Crawford, USN, Michael Adams, Chad Everett, Charles Hughes, and Byron Hutson.  Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Monday, December 5.

Mr. Fred H. Weaver, age 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Union General Hospital.  Mr. Weaver was born Sunday, May 30, 1920 in Fannin County, Georgia, to the late Robert Weaver and the late Launa Nichols Weaver.  Fred attended Liberty Hill United Methodist Church, was a member of VFW Post 7394, the Air Force Sergeantís Association and the American Legion Post #121.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Bennett Weaver.  Survivors include: daughter, Ingrid Rena Martin of Bellview, Washington; daughter, Lynda Ann Weaver of Clarkston, Georgia; and granddaughter, Andrea Lynn Martin.  Funeral services were held Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jennings Neeld officiating.  Special music was presented by The Kelley Trio.  Interment followed in Hemptown Cemetery with Graveside Military ors Conferred by the North Georgia Honor Guard.  Members of the North Georgia Honor Guard served as pallbearers.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Friday, December 9.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Toys for Tots Campaign.  The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.  You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.
