Mr.
Bernie Deyton age 87, of Murphy Hwy., Blairsville, passed away on
Monday,
December 5, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following a brief
illness. Mr. Deyton was born on Dec. 26,
1924 in Union
County, the son of the late Mack Deyton and the late Sudie Deaton
Deyton. Mr. Deyton was a native and
lifelong resident
of Union County. He enjoyed fishing,
woodworking and building furniture. He
also loved working and restoring cars. He
was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather
and
great-great grandfather and was a friend to many. Bernie
was preceded in death by a grand dather
(sic), Cynthia Deyton and several brothers and sisters. Mr.
Deyton was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mr. Deyton are his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Opal Hughes Deyton
of
Blairsville, his children, Dennis Deyton of Blairsville, Anthony and
Judy
Deyton of Blairsville, Brenda and Bobby Cantrell of Blairsville.,
Barbara and
Keith Rice of Winder, GA, Ricky Deyton of Blairsville, Bobby Deyton of
Blairsville, Franklin Deyton of Blairsville, Greg and Glenda Deyton of
Blairsville, one brother, Birlie Deyton of Blairsville, three sisters
and one
brother-in-law, Mary Ramey of Blairsville, Flora Bell Lee of
Blairsville,
Myrtle and Tommy Evans of Blairsville, nineteen grandchildren,
thirty-seven
great- grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday Dec. 7, 2011 at 12 p.m. from the
Ebenezer
Baptist Church with the Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Ray Potts
officiating.
Special music was presented by the Ben Burrell Family and Melanie
Schuenemann. Pallbearers were Jason
Schuenemann, Dewayne
Cantrell, Stephen Crisp, Christopher, Nathan, Andy, Jordan Deyton and
Donnie
Popular. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse
Deyton and Dakota Canrell. Interment
followed in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery. The
family met at the funeral home on Tuesday
evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Opal Marie Speck, age 91, of Tina’s CT, Blairsville, passed away,
Thursday,
December 8, 2011. Mrs. Speck was born
March 17, 1920 in Four Corners, IN, the daughter of the late John and
Pearl
(Downs) Hauersperger. She moved here 4
years ago form Inverness, FL. On
September 17, 1946 she married Wilfred A. Speck (2/2/1921-1/21/1978). Mrs. Speck was also preceded in death by a son
Gary Speck (8/15/1950-7/21/1997), daughter-in-law, Peggy Speck in 2008,
five
brothers and six sisters. She was of the
Catholic Faith.
Survivors include children, James Speck of Inverness, FL, Susan (Speck)
Tully
and husband Richard of Blairsville, GA, sisters, Clara Cordelia
“Tillie”
(Hauersperger) Speck of St. Petersburg, FL, Elmalee Irene
(Hauersperger) Barr
of North Vernon, IN, Sarah Ann (Hauersperger) of Seymour, IN, many
nieces and
nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and
nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, and step great
nieces and
nephews.
No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers make memorials to the Union County Nursing Home

Mrs.
Virginia Sowell Tullis, age 58, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday
Dec. 6, 2011,
from her home on Bruce Drive in Blairsville, following a battle with
cancer. Ginny was born on July 28, 1953,
in Savannah,
GA, the daughter of Charles Hamilton Sowell, Sr. and the late Grace
Counts
Sowell. Ginny dedicated her life to the
health care profession as a Medical Technologist. She
found happiness in each of the following
health care settings in which she served: Memorial Hospital in
Chattanooga, TN, Methodist Hospitals of Dallas, Egleston Children’s
Hospital of
Atlanta, Emory University Hospital of Atlanta, Children’s Health Care
of
Atlanta, Union General Hospital and, most recently, Georgia Cancer
Specialists
of Blairsville. Ginny was a loving and
caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She
was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church
(PCA).
Surviving
Ginny are her loving husband of thirty-five years, Bill Tullis of
Blairsville;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Chris Anderson of Cumming,
and Candy
and James Wright, Jr. of Dahlonega; her father, Charles H. Sowell Sr.
of
Savannah; one brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Frankie Sowell of
Savannah;
one sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Kerry Conaway of Savannah;
three
grandchildren, Landon Cooper Anderson, James L. Wright, III and Emma
Renee
Anderson. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec.10, 2011, at 4 p.m.
at Grace
Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jon Jacobs officiating. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family
requests that donations be made to the Union County Relay For Life in
memory of
Ginny. The family met with friends on
Saturday from 3-4 p.m. at the church prior to the service. A
reception at
the family home followed the service.

Mr.
Al
John Niemczyk, age 67, of Pleasant Grove Rd., Blairsville, passed away
on
Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 in the Atlanta Medical Center following an
extended
illness. Mr. Niemczyk was born on Dec.
22, 1943 in Mineola, NY, the son of the late Alfred John Niemczyk and
the late
Edna Poetsch Niemczyk. Al was a veteran
of the US Army of the Vietnam War. He
enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling. He
was a loving husband, father, brother and
grandfather. Al was a member of All Saints
Lutheran Church.
Surviving
Mr. Niemczyk are his loving wife of eighteen years, Lynda Rhodes
Niemczyk of
Blairsville, four sons and two daughters-in-law, Josh Rhodes of
Blairsville,
John Niemczyk of Richmond, VA, Tom and Cheryl Niemczyk of Blairsville,
Timothy
and Susan Niemczyk of Richmond, VA, one daughter and son-in-law,
Melissa and
Ron Geisler of PA, one brother, Rick Niemczyk of Ft. Lauderdale, FL,
five
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday Dec. 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Dave Wesche officiating. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family

expenses
in memory of Al. The family met with
friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the
services.

Mr. Mrs.
, James “Michael” Mashburn, age 41
of Blairsville, passed away November 27, 2011 at the Union General
Hospital. Michael was born February 23,
1970 to James “Clifford” Mashubrn and Tressie Callahan Mashburn. He was Baptist in faith. He
was preceded in death by grandparents,
Luther and Ethel Callahan of Blue Ridge, and Roy and Ivalee Mashburn of
Mineral
Bluff.
Survivors include: mother, Tressie
Mashburn, father, James “Clifford” Mashburn and numerous aunts and
uncles.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
November 29,2 011 at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy
Cantrell, Rev. Glen Collis, and Rev. Randy Hughes officiating. Music provided by Luther Thomas.
Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah Baptist
church Cemetery. Pallbearers included:
Phillip Barker, Wayne Watkins, Tony Petty, Jerry Williams, Randall
Watkins and
Kenneth Petty.

Mrs. Ida
Mae Langman age 106 of Bitter Creek
Place, Blairsville passed away on Sunday Dec. 4, 2011 in the Chatuge
Regional
Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs.
Langman was born on April 16, 1905 in La
Porte, IN, the daughter of the late Frank Sult and the late Inez Goode
Sult. Mae grew up in Cardo, ND and
graduated from
high school there. She attended
Valparaiso University for two years. In
her later years she moved to Avon Park, FL where she was a Pink
Lady at
Walker Memorial Hospital for over thirty years. Mae
enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She had a
real passion for quilting. Mae was a
member of the Church of the Brethren
in Bradenton, FL, where she lived before moving to Blairsville.
Surviving
Mrs. Langman are three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Susan
Langman of
Blairsville, Duane and Jean Fritz of Kernville, CA, Allen and June
Langman of
La Porte, IN, one daughter, Virginia Casper of Denver, CO, one brother,
Elmer
Sult of Titusville, FL, one sister, Dorothy Hill of La Porte, IN,
eighteen
grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and eight great-great
grandchildren,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. In

Mr.
Billy Don Frala age 55 of Mulkey Gap Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Monday
December 5, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following a brief
illness. Mr. Frala was born on Sept. 5,
1956 in
Blytheville AR, the son of William Donald Frala and the late Patricia
Ann
Doolen Frala. Billy had lived in
Blairsville for over twenty-five years moving here from Stone Mountain.
At the time of his death he was employed as
a Social
Worker with the Ninth District Opportunity in Union County. Billy enjoyed helping and working with people.
He was a very loving son, brother and
was a friend to many. Mr. Frala was of
the Methodist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Frala are his father, Bill Frala of Lawrenceville, GA, one sister
and
brother-in-law, Terri and Larry Trawick of Lawrenceville, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. In
