Mr. Noah
Nelson
Seabolt age 74, of Old Trackrock Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Tuesday Dec. 7,
2010 at his home following an extended illness. Mr.
Seabolt was born on April 3, 1936 in
Suches, GA the son of the late Mintie Seabolt. He
was a native and lifelong resident of Union
County. Noah loved being outdoors and
enjoyed being with his family. He was a
loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and was a friend to
many. Noah retired from Mountain Valley
Motors in
2002 after many years of service. He was
preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Seabolt. Mr.
Seabolt was a member of the Hill Church in
Suches.
Surviving
Mr.
Seabolt are his loving wife of forty-two years, Bonnie Lovell Seabolt
of
Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jeff Deaver of
Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lynne Seabolt of
Blairsville, one brother, Charles Seabolt of Suches, two sisters,
Lizzie
Gilreath of Suches and Marie Williamson of Dawsonville, four
grandchildren,
Katlin and Colton Deaver, Clay and J.R. Matheson, several nieces,
nephews,
cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service was held on Sunday Dec. 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain
View Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Deaver and Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music was presented by Tommy Greene. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family

Mr.
David Keith Banks, age 58 of Kimsey St., Blairsville, passed away on
Tuesday
December 7, 2010 at his home. Mr. Banks
was born in Puerto Rico at a US base on September 23, 1952, the son of
Mary
Ruth Harris and the late George Samuel Banks. David was a loving
father,
brother, uncle and grandfather. He was
also a very talented carpenter. He had
lived in the area since 1986, moving here from Orlando, FL.
Surviving
Mr. Banks are his mother, Mary Taylor of Stewart, FL, a daughter
Melissa
Cattanach of Helen, GA, a son and daughter-in-law Keith and Sarah Banks
of
Columbus, GA, three brothers and a sister-in-law, Mike and Brenda Banks
of
Melbourne, FL, Kenny Banks of Ocala, FL and George and Cheryl Banks of
Tallahassee, FL, two sisters Kathy Banks of Rockledge, FL and Debbie
and Reggie
Hamm of St. Johns, FL, and four grandchildren Nick Cattanach, Calder
Cattanach,
Jacob Banks and Jared Banks.
A

Mary Lou
MacGilvray, of Blairsville, GA,
passed away at the age of 78 years old on December 4, 2010, a loving
wife,
mother, and grandmother. Among her
passions were quilting, sewing, gardening, painting, singing, and
crafting. Mary Lou devoted most of her
time to loving and caring for her family.
She is survived by her loving
husband, Roger P. MacGilvray, of 60 years; her three daughters,
Colleen, Alice,
and Eileen; her son, Roger; her two sons-in-law, Billy and Donnie; her
daughter-in-law, Jessie; her six grandchildren, Kellie, Timothy,
Jennifer,
Jessica, Jaclyn, and Mia; and her four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn,
Mason,
Brody, and Averie.
Viewing was held on Wednesday,
December 8, 2010 at the Gary Panoch Funeral Home, at noon, in Boca
Raton, FL
and followed by her burial at South Florida VA National Cemetery, in
Lake

Betty
Jean Parker, nee Spiva died on Sunday,
December 5, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center after a sudden
illness. She was born to Montine Wilson
Spiva and Cecil D. Spiva on June 3, 1931, in Blairsville, Georgia,
where she
resided most recently. Betty was the
widow of James Earl Parker, also from Blairsville, Georgia.
Betty is survived by her two
daughters and their families, Linda Beasley and her husband Ted of
Smyrna,
Georgia, and Lois Brown and husband Ted of Winder, Georgia. Her grandchildren are Maria McDonald, married
to Walter McDonald of Smyrna, Georgia, and Jason Brown and wife Gina of
Worcester, Massachusetts. Her
great-grandchildren are Zoe McDonald, age 9, and Seth Brown, age 9.
Mrs. Parker and her husband raised
their daughters in Smyrna, Georgia, then lived in Virginia Beach,
Virginia. After retirement Betty moved
to Athens, Georgia to be close to her daughters until moving to Wesley
Mountain
Village, in Blairsville.
The memorial service was held at
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home at 4355 Lexington Rd. in Athens, Georgia
30605,
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, after the visitation at 1 p.m.
there. Family and friends were invited to
gather for
a catered reception following at the home of Ted and Lois Brown in
Winder. Address and directions were
available at Lord
and Stephens on Saturday. Flowers were

Mrs.
Irene Coker Brown, age 101, native and
lifelong resident of Blairsville, Georgia, entered into Glory Friday
morning,
December 3, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Brown was born on May 8, 1909, in the Trackrock area of Southern Union County, a daughter of the late William Malcolm Coker and the late Sarah Elizabeth Cook Coker. She married Emory Brown, on August 12, 1928, and together they raised eight children: Myrtle Elizabeth, Melvin Malcolm, Claudia Lue, Sarah Virginia, Farris Emory, Wanda Ada, Deanna Irene and Evelyn Mae. Except for a brief time in Whitfield County, Georgia, she lived her life in the mountains of Union County which she loved.
Preceding
her in
death are her parents; three sisters; seven brothers; Emory, her
husband of 75
years; daughter, Myrtle Elizabeth Morgan; great-great grandson, Jake
Matthew
Gibson, and two sons-in-law, Jim Partain and Marion Todd.
She
leaves behind daughters
Claudia B. Todd; Sarah B. Partain; Wanda B. Gibson with husband
Clarence;
Deanna I. Brown; Evelyn B. Lamar with husband Bill; and sons Melvin
Brown with
wife Marilyn; and Farris E. Brown with wife Joann; 19 grandchildren, 33
great
grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews. All will miss her very much.
Funeral
services were
held on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Trackrock Baptist
Church, where
she was a lifelong member, with Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. Trannis
Colwell
officiating. The body lie instate at the
church beginning at 1:30, until time for the funeral services to begin.
Special music was presented by Patricia
Cook,
Trackrock Baptist Church Choir, Marsha Barrett, and Mike Partain. A poem “Mama’s Hands’, was read by Carrie
Partain, and Mrs. Brown was eulogized by Lark Bragg.
Burial was in the church cemetery, where she
was laid to rest by her husband, daughter, and parents.

at Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville on Saturday, December 4, 2010.

Lois
Jones Downs, 82, passed away November
22, 2010. She was a resident of Branan
Lodge before her recent illness.
Mrs. Downs was preceded in death by
her husband of 57 years, Harry Downs.
She has two remaining sisters, Ruth Crutchfield, and Lee Jones
of
Clarkston, GA. She was mother to Ann
Myers and son-in-law Ray Myers of Blairsville, GA, son, Harry Michael
Downs of
Stone Mountain, GA and daughter, Elaine Downs of Athens, GA. She has four grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was a loving wife and mother, and friend
to all who knew her. She had a smile
that will be missed by all.
Services were held November 24th at
Floral Hills Cemetery near her hometown of Scottdale, GA.

Shubert, age 78,
of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at Union
County
Nursing Home.
Don was
born in
Banks County, GA, on Wednesday, May 25, 1932, to the late Conway
Stanhope
Shubert and Pansy Opal Garrison Shubert. He
attended the House of Prayer Church and was
a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a member of the Allegheny Masonic
Lodge #114
F&AM. He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Barbara Jean Abernathy.
Don is
survived by
his wife, Freddie Jean Niece Shubert of the home, son and his partner,
Donald
Ray Shubert and Michael Helton of Sugar Hill, Georgia, granddaughter
and her
husband, Crystal Michelle and Alex Davenport of Blairsville; grandson
and his
wife, James Jeremy and Haley Wiley of Cleveland, Georgia; grandson, Tre
Shubert-Helton of Sugar Hill; great grandchildren, John Robert Sexton,
and James
Jessie Wiley both of Cleveland. Many
other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services for
Don were held Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Music
was provided by the House of Prayer
Choir. Members of the Masons served as
pallbearers. Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens with Military
Honors by
the Georgia Army National Guard and the North Georgia Honor Guard. Masonic Graveside Rites were presented by
Allegheny
Masonic Lodge.

Mr.
Herbert Randall Stewart, age 52 of Brawley Lane, Suches, GA, passed
away on
Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at his home. Mr.
Stewart was born in Robbinsville, NC on September 18, 1958, the son of
the late
Herbert Stewart and the late Shirley Horton. Randy was a great dad who
loved to
hunt and spend time outdoors. Randy was employed with Ingles for over
thirty-six
years working in Blairsville, Murphy and was currently the Manager of
Ingles in
Blue Ridge. Randy was a great
dad who
loved to hunt and spend time outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Larry
Stewart. Randy was a member of the Antioch
Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Stewart are his wife, Debbie Stewart of Blairsville, one son,
Christian
Stewart of Blairsville, three daughters and a son-in-law, Holly Stewart
of
Blairsville, Laura Stewart of Blairsville and Melissa and Jerry Sisum
of
Marble, NC; a sister, Jeana Stewart of Marble, NC, a brother, Chris
Stewart of
Murphy, NC and a brother and sister-in-law, Huck and Lora Stewart of
Murphy,
NC, three grandchildren, Tyler Sisum, Cory Sisum and Blake Sisum and
several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, December 10 at 2 p.m. from Antioch
Baptist Church
with the Rev. Daniel Stewart and the Rev. George Cline officiating. Special music was presented by the Cedar Cliff
Singers. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Eddie Norton,
Matt
Pilgrim, Mark Farmer, Mark Rogers, Lonnie Stewart and Mickey Stewart. Honorary pallbearers included Tyler Sisum,

Mrs.
Nancy Lee Ellis, age 55 of Scenic Mountain Park Rd., Blairsville,
passed away
on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at her home following an extended
illness. Nancy
was born on January 17, 1955 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of the
late
Robert McGetrick and the late Helen Welch. She
is preceded in death by her brother, Jim McGetrick.
Nancy had lived in the area since 2004,
moving here from Miami, Florida. She
enjoyed working at the Rebels Pantry in Blairsville, before her
illness. Mrs. Ellis was of the Christian
faith.
Surviving
Mrs. Ellis are a son, Robert Sean Ellis of Blairsville, a sister,
Rosemary
Johns of Miami, FL and a nephew, Travis Johns of Miami. Many
other friends and relatives also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. In

Baker. He was a veteran of the US Army Air

years. He was a loving husband, father and
grandfather. He was preceded in death by
a twin brother, Bill Baker in 2007. Mr.

was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County.

Eugene

Patricia Lynn
Lewis, age 64 of Crystal Creek Rd., Blairsville passed away on Tuesday,
December 7, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Baker
was born in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph L. Winter and

Jeannett Holcombe. She is preceded in
death by her son, David Lewis. She had
lived in the area for over ten years, moving here from Lawrenceville. She loved working for McDonald’s in
Blairsville and loved spending time with people. Patricia
was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Baker
are her son, Mike Lewis of Buford, GA, a brother and sister-in-law,
Joseph L.
and Kathy Winter of Canton, GA, two grandchildren, Adam Lewis and Leah
Lewis,
two nephews, Anthony Winter and Jonathan Winter, a niece Jeannette

several grand nieces and nephews. Special

Mrs.
Viola “NaNa” Tritt, age 94, of Suches,
GA, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Northeast GA Medical
Center
in Gainesville, GA.
Mrs. Tritt had lived in Suches since
May 7, 1933, the day she married her late husband of 55 years, Melvin
Tritt. She was born in Parksville, TN
December 25, 1915, to the late Thomas Shell and Rena Carver Shell. She was also preceded in death by sisters;
Ethel Nichols and Juanita Cochran; and a half brother, Maurice Shell.
Mrs. Tritt was a homemaker, owned
and operated a child care center in Marietta, GA for a number of years,
and
also worked at the Pine Tree Plant in Dahlonega for several years.
Mrs. Tritt is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law; Carolyn and Dennis Anderson, Suches, GA; sons
and
daughters-in-law, Clyde and Claudine Tritt, Plainsville, GA, Bob and
Ima Jean
Tritt, Cleveland, GA, and David And (sic) Carolyn J. Tritt, Talking
Rock, GA;
brother, Earnest Shell, Attica, Michigan; half brother, Marvin Shell,
copper
Hill, TN; grandchildren, Nathan Tritt, Leza McGrath, Christopher Tritt,

Young, Colt Tritt and Ambretta Tritt; great-grandchildren, Leland

scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Mount Pleasant
Baptist
Church #2 (The Hill Church) in Suches, GA.
Mrs. Tritt will lie in state at the
church from 1 PM until 2 PM on Wednesday.
Rev. Joe Hulsey, Rev. Doug Tritt,
and Rev. Evan Hughes will officiate.
Interment will follow in the church
cemetery.

the funeral home on Monday from 3 PM until 9 PM and all day on Tuesday.

Mrs.
Mabel Lois
Rathyen, age 89, of Lori Loop, Blairsville passed away on Sunday
December 5,
2010 at Stonehenge Assisted Living following an extended illness. Mrs. Rathyen was born on January 3, 1921 in
Bayonne, NJ, the daughter of the late William Hundley and the late
Margaret
Mayhan. She lived in the region for the
last six years, moving here from Wayne, NJ. Mabel
was a loving mother and grandmother. She
is preceded in death by her husband, William
Rathyen. She was of the Methodist faith
and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County. She was a very active member in the Order of
the Eastern Star.
Surviving
Mrs.
Rathyen are her son and daughter-in-law, David and Brenda Rathyen,
seven
grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Many
other relatives and friends also survive.
No
services are
planned at this time. In lieu of
