ruby lee stover meservey nevill
Ruby
Lee Stover Meservey Nevill, age 76,of Howell, MI, and formerly of
Suches, GA,
passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at her daughter’s residence
following an
extended illness.
Mrs. Nevill
was born on September 18, 1932, in Suches, GA, to the late Rev. Sherman
D. and
Thressa Mae Anderson Stover.
In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Ken Nevill and
brother and
sister-in-law James A. and Alice Phillips Stover, sister Mary Stover
Garrett,
sister and brother-in-law Mattie and Glen Dailey, brothers Herman and
John
(J.D.) Stover.
She was a
1950 graduate of Woody Gap High School.
She was a member of Harmony Church of God in Suches where she
was
secretary/treasurer and clerk for several years. Ruby
always had a deep desire to help other
people who were less fortunate. On one
occasion she opened her home to a relative who was going through an
extremely
stressful time in their live. She
provided loving care, nurturing and assistance until they were able to
cope
with the situation. In addition, she
collected clothing and toys to distribute to needy families in the area. Mrs. Nevill could have best been described as
a caring and dedicated Christian person loving mother, sister and a
dear friend
to all.
Survivors
include her first husband Robert Meservey
and their four children, son Claude Meservey of TX, daughter and
son-in-law
Linda and Terry Dunn of MI, son Rene’ Meservey, and son and
daughter-in-law
Gary and Deborah Meservey of MI. She is
also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Sidney and Bertha Mae
Stover, M.J.
and Grace Stover of Dahlonega, Bill and Joyce Stover of Fairburn,
brother
Sherman Stover, Jr. of Blairsville, sisters and brothers-in-law Edna
and rev.
Garland Griffis of TN, Rosa and Lewis Haygood of Suches, sisters Nell
Pruitt and
Carolyn Ray of Suches. Mrs. Nevill is
also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous
nieces
and nephews and other relatives.
The family
received friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 5 PM until
9 PM on
Tuesday. Funeral services were held at 2
PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in
Suches
with the Rev. Clarence Drummond and Rev. Mike Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Nevill
lay in state at the church on Wednesday, December 10 from 1 PM until 2
PM.

Mrs.
Judith Elaine Daniels Parker, 69, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of
Massachusetts, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008.
Mrs. Parker was born Friday, October 13, 1939
in Worcester, MA, to the late George Daniels and the late Elizabeth
Hogan
Daniels. She had been preceded in death
by her husband, Whitner R. Parker.
Surviving
family members include: son & daughter-in-law, Daniel and Erin
Parker, Blairsville;
daughter & son-in-law, Amy and Dick Atkins, Jefferson, MA;
daughter, Susan
Connell, of Princeton, MA.
No services

Mrs.
“Tiny” Mason Brown, age 87 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday,
December
11, 2008 at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Brown was born Tuesday, October 11, 1921
in Culberson, NC, to the late Julian Mason and the late Hettie Turner
Mason. She was a member of the Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church where she was Choir Director for many years. Mrs. Brown loved babysitting the many
children that she kept in her home over the years.
She also had a great love for all of God’s
animals. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Tom C. brown, daughter, Mary Lou Brown, brothers, Rev. Lee
Mason
and Demus Mason and sister, Lennar Plott age, of Blairsville, died
following a
brief illness, in Union General Hospital following an extended illness
Survivors
include: son & daughter-in-law, Charles and Lynn Brown of
Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law,
David Brown and
Wylene White of Hiawassee; brother, Edgar Mason of Blairsville; sister,
Annie
Mae Plott of Blairsville; brother, Lewis Mason of Covington, GA;
brother,
Clayton Mason of Hull, GA; sister, Doris Brown of Blairsville;
grandchildren:
Billy Brooksher, Chris Brooksher, Melanie Dyer and Dawn Nichols and
great
grandchildren: Will Brooksher, Jesse Brooksher, Bailey Brooksher,
Sidney Dyer
and Griffin Nichols. Many nieces,
nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 3 PM from the Chapel of
the
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Benny Nix officiating. Music was provided by the Nix Family. Interment followed in Pleasant Grover Baptist
Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were
the following gentlemen: Allen Plott, Steven Brown, Mike Jones, Billy
Brooksher,
Chris Brooksher and Curtis Dyer.
Friends
called at the funeral home anytime after 12 noon Saturday, however, the
family
especially met with friends from 5-9 PM on Saturday evening.

Mr.
Richard
Louis Shaw, age 68, of Corley Rd., Conyers, GA, formerly of Blairsville
passed
away on Wed., December 10, 2008 at his home following an extended
illness. Mr. Shaw was born on May 17, 1940
in Hamilton
County, TN, the son of the late Herman Lee Shaw and the late Ida V.
Smith
Shaw. He was a veteran of the US Army of
the Vietnam war.
Richard loved to play the guitar and doing woodworking. He was a big baseball and football fan. He was a loving husband, father, brother,
grandfather and great grandfather. Mr.
Shaw was a member of the True Gospel Baptist church.
Surviving Mr.
Shaw are his loving wife of forty-eight years, Carolyn Pettett Shaw of
Conyers,
GA, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Roger Barrett of
Conyers,
Shelia and David Corn of Lawrenceville, GA, one son, Richard Louis Shaw
II of
Atlanta, two sisters, Betty Thacker of Adairsville, GA, pat Dobbs of
Blairsville, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Leonard and Sherry
Shaw of
Loganville, Gene and Marie Shaw of Eatonton, GA, Gary Shaw of
Loganville, four
grandchildren, Aimee and Brian Grey, Amanda and Eric McLean four great
grandchildren, Sarah, Tayte, Isabel and Kaydence, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Hammond officiating.
Special music was presented by the Faith
Singers. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Tony Brown, David Towe, Gene Shaw, Matthew and Stephen
Clark
and Dustin Pollard. Interment followed
in the Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Luther
Ovell King, age 92, of Kings Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday,
Dec. 9,
2008 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. King was born on Aug. 25, 1916 in Union
County, the son of the late Jass King and the late Minnie Dillinger
King. He was a veteran of the US Army of
WWII. He was a native and lifelong
resident of
Union County. HE enjoyed farming and
gardening. Mr. King was a member of
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. King are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Clara Mae King
of
Blairsville, J.B. and Betty King of Blairsville, one sister, Ollie
Jones of
Oakwood, GA, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the rev. Jerry Young officiating.
Special music was presented by Nancy Hughes, Evan Hughes and
Kelley
Helton. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Raymond King, Keith Culberson, Cord King, Ray Ingram,
Gerald
Patterson, Charles Trulove and Larry King.
Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Tuesday evening after 6 p.m.

Miss Ramona Matos, age 4 months, went to be with Jesus, on Wed. Dec.

following an extended illness.
