Gertha
Farmer Taylor, 75, of Branan Lodge, formerly of Murphy, NC, died
Friday,
December 6, 1996, at her home.
She was a
native of Fannin county
(sic) but had lived most of her life in Cherokee County, NC, before
moving to
Blairsville in 1984. She was the
daughter of the late Floyd farmer and Ora Colbert farmer Beavers and
the wife
of Don B. Taylor, who died July 12, 1981.
She was a retired employee of Clifton Precision and she and her
husband
operated a farm for many years in the Hiawassee Dam Community. She was a member of Blairsville First Baptist
Church, Faith Sunday school class, where she served as activities
director and
a member of Silver Tones Senior Choir.
Surviving
are her daughters, Grace T. Carringer, Glenda T. Helton, both of
Murphy, and
Glenda T. Nichols of Young Harris, GA; sister, Nell Pittman of Blue
Ridge, GA,
and Gertrude Sanders of Doraville, GA; brother, J. L. farmer of
Marietta, GA;
seven grandchildren, Dr. Don Carringer, Lisa Carringer Vaughn, Vicki
Helton
Smith, Julie Helton Byers, Jeremy Helton and Kristyn and Lauren Dickey;
eight
great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two
step-great-grandchildren.
Services
were at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship Baptist Church, Murphy, with the
Rev.
Danny Paris officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.
Pallbearers
were Mike Pittman, Gary Farmer, Ricky Hawkin,
Gene Hitchcock, Larry McNabb and Terry Dickey.
Honorary pallbearers were Faith Sunday School Class of
Blairsville First
Baptist Church.
