MRS. RHODA STUDSTILL WILLIAMS

 

Mrs. Rhoda Studstill Williams, age 88, of Williams Circle, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Williams was born on August 5, 1913 in Lakeland, GA, the daughter of the late John G. Studstill and the late Winnie Lee Studstill.  She was a retired teacher with the Clay County School System.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Green Springs, FL.  Mrs. Williams had lived in Blairsville since 1988.

Surviving Mrs. Williams are one son: James Morgan Williams of Blairsville; one grandson: Jim & Kim Williams of Blairsville; two grandchildren: Blake and Candice Williams of Blairsville; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 13 2001, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Music Funeral Home in Lakeland, GA, with the Rev. Tom Studstill officiating Interment followed in the Burnt Cemetery in Lakeland.

MR. DAVID RONALD LEIGH

 

Mr. David Ronald Leigh, age 58. of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2001, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville following a short illness.

David was born in Walker County, GA, on Monday, June 14, 1943, a son of the late Ralph Leigh and Jewell Thomas Leigh.  He had lived in Blairsville since 1992, moving from Orlando, FL.  David was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, George and Justine Leigh, of Blairsville; sister, Linda Davis, of Lady Lake, FL; several nieces and nephews and many friends also survive.

Graveside services were held Saturday, December 15, 2001, at 11 a.m., from Chatooge Baptist Church Cemetery in Lafayette, GA.

MR. ROBERT CALVIN (CAL) DETTMAN

 

Mr. Robert Calvin (better known as Cal) Dettman, age 76, of Dettman Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2001, in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Dettman was born on March 19, 1925, in the Sault Ste. Marie, MI, the son of the late Hobart M. Dettman and the late Anne Cumming Dettman.  Mr. Dettman was a member of the VFW, a former member of the Union Co. Lions Club, an Elca Mission Builders, and The Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Siarkowski in 1975.

Surviving Mr. Dettman are his loving wife of fifty four years, Geneva Tisdale Dettman of Blairsville; one son: Danny Dettman of Murphy, NC; two daughters and one son-in-law: Sally Rollman of Littleton, CO, Peggy and Bob Bobel of Macomb, MI; three sisters: Esther Cole of Alpena, MI, Barbara Uebbing of Troy, MI, and Joan Larson of MI; five grandchildren: Scott Dettman, Jeff Sheldon, Julie shea, Jennifer Massimilla and Renay Neal; six great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 14, 2001 at 11 a.m. from the Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill McKinney officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Gene Hamaker, Ken Lee, David Klovstad, Dan Malte, Phil Reifscheider, and David Richterkessing.
