harry gilbert poole, III

 

Harry Gilbert Poole, III, age 71, of Blairsville, GA passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at his home.  He was born June 16, 1936 and was a fourth generation Atlantian.  He was preceded in death by his father Harry Gilbert Poole, Jr. and his mother Grace Eckles Parlato.  Harry graduated from the Choate School in Wallingford, CT in 1954.  he attended the Army Language School and served in the United States Army in Germany as a Russian interpreter.  Harry received a degree from Princeton University in romance languages and literatures in 1962 and later received a Masters in Business Administration from Georgia State University.  He pursued a career in banking and retired from Bank of America.  As an avid sportsman, he was a founding member of Millrock Gun Club, spending many weekends with his son on the sporting clays course.  Harry moved to Blairsville, GA to enjoy a peaceful retirement fishing on lake Nottley.  An avaricious reader with a personal library of over a thousand books, Harry’s true passion was a quest for further knowledge.  He thoroughly enjoyed conquering every Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mabel Youmans Poole, of Atlanta, GA and his beloved children: Harry Gilbert Poole, VI and Adrian Poole Bennett, MD and son-in-law Luke L. Bennett.

A graveside service was held on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Westview Cemetery in Atlanta with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating.

suzanne neeld gaiser

 

Suzanne Neeld Gaiser passed away peacefully on December 12, 2007 at the Union County Nursing Home after a period of declining health.  Suzanne was born on Oak lane, Philadelphia, PA, the only child of Percy Ingham Neeld and Grace Frick Neeld.  For many years she worked for Charles of the Ritz and B. Altman and Company.  Mrs. Gaiser moved here and lived at Wesley Mountain Village.  She was a volunteer at the Union County Hospital and the library at Branan Lodge.  She was also always a member of a book club or discussion group.  She worshiped at Mountain Presbyterian Church where her son is the minister.

She is survived by her son, Reverend Kim Travis Adam and daughter-in-law Kathy Carter Adams of Blairsville and Walter J. Adams and daughter-in-law Deborah Reimiller Adams of Dallas, PA; four grandsons Carter Neeld Adams of Chicago, IL, Collin Blair Adams and Clayton Tyler Adams both of Blairsville and Bradley Walter Adams and wife Stephanie Thuss Adams of Harper’s Ferry, WV; great-grandson Brayden Arthur Adams; other wonderful and loving friends survive her.

Moments of memory were held on December 16, 2007 at the Union County Nursing Home.  A Memorial service will be held at a later date in Philadelphia, PA.
