Mrs. Jean Carter, age 83, of
Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Carter
was born in Valdosta, GA, on Thursday, the 4th of July, 1929, a
daughter of
Frank Mullis and Nellie Gieger Mullis. Jean graduated from Valdosta
High School
and received her Bachelor's degree from Georgia State Woman's College
(which
later became Valdosta State), and her Master's degree from Florida
Atlantic
University. Her career was in teaching and administration. Mrs. Carter
and her
husband David Ellis Carter, Sr. moved to Blairsville in 1989, following
their
retirement. Jean was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church in
Blairsville,
and she was active in Union General Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered
for 20
years at Union County Nursing Home. She enjoyed working crossword
puzzles and
reading. Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Mullis;
her husband, David Carter, Sr.; and brothers, Perry, Roscoe, and
Franklin;
sisters, Ida Draffin and Marian Hollis also preceded her in death.
Jean was dearly loved and will
be greatly missed by all who knew her in their lives - most of all her
family: sson
(sic) and daughter-in-law, David, Jr. and Kathy Carter, of Savannah,
GA; son
and daughter-in-law, J. Michael and Patty Carter, of Ft. Pierce, FL;
daughter,
Jan Moyle, of Orlando, FL; and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and
Doug
Brackett, of Blairsville; grandchildren: Sally and Rob Weiss, Lindsey
and Josh
Peterson, Melissa Carter, Jessica Carter, Paul Moyle, Eric Moyle, Emily
Moyle
and Brody Brackett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carter were
held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Coosa United
Methodist
Church with Rev. Roy Watkins officiating. The members of Coosa United
Methodist
Church presented the music for the service. Honorary escort to the
family were
Union General Hospital Auxiliary members and members of the Blairsville
Garden
Club, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at Coosa
United
Methodist Church on the same day as the funeral service, Wednesday,
starting at
10 a.m..

Mr. Edward Allen Kubes, age 74, of
Blairsville passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Union General
Hospital
following an extended illness. He was born in Sarasota, FL to the late
Joseph
F. and Nita Kubes. Mr. Kubes moved to this area 15 years ago from
Oviedo, FL.
He was a US Air Force veteran, FSU graduate, and worked as Director of
Human
Resources with AAA auto club, retiring in 1993. Mr. Kubes was an avid
outdoorsman and spent much time during his later years hiking and
camping in
both the southeastern and western mountains of the United States. In
addition
to his passion for the natural world, his interests included
literature,
aviation and science. His was a very gentle and kind heart.
He is survived by Lynette, his wife of 50 years, son Mark, son Eric,
daughter-in-law Meredith and grandson J.T., sisters Janet and Lorraine,
brother
George and sister-in-law Eleanor, brother Joe and sister-in-law
Marilyn, and
brother Robert and sister-in-law Barbara.
There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. In
lieu of
flowers, please make memorial donations to Union County Food Bank or
the
Salvation Army.

Mr. Ralph
L.
Hogsed age 83 of Wind Chime Lane, Blairsville passed away peacefully on
Sunday,
December 9, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Hogsed
was born
on Nov. 2, 1929 in Murphy, NC, the son of the late George Hogsed and
the late
Myrtle Hartness Hogsed. He was a veteran of the US Army and a retired
civil
service engineer. Ralph was a loving
father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid
horse racing
fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Smith Hogsed in 2008
and a
granddaughter, Brooke Michelle Hogsed. Mr. Hogsed was a member of
Harmony Grove
Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Hogsed are this fiancée, Willie Mae Colwell of Blairsville, two
sons and
daughters-in-law, Gary and Ginny Hogsed of Blairsville, Ricky and Sandy
Hogsed
of Marietta, two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and John Archambault
of
Blairsville, Lisa and Gary Butler of Blairsville, one sister, Etta Mae
Watkins
of Akron, OH., five grandchildren, James L. Ezell, Christopher Hogsed,
Ricky,
Jonathon and Skye Butler, two great grandchildren, Brandon and Allyssa
Hogsed,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Thursday Dec.13, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music was
presented by the
Harmony Grove Church Choir. The following gentleman served as
pallbearers,
Ricky, Gary and Skye Butler, Christopher Hogsed, James Ezell, Jeff
Deaver and
Matthew Bowie. Interment followed in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening
from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Patricia Ann Morelli, age 77, of
Highland Forge Lane, Blairsville passed away Friday, December 7, 2012
at her
home following an extended illness. She
was born May 2, 1935 in Hudson, NY to the late Earl and Catherine Jones
LaBuff. Mrs. Morelli moved to this area 3
years ago
from Largo, FL and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
church.
Survivors include her husband, Frank
Morelli of Blairsville, children, Margo and Edward Musumeci of
Dahlonega, David
and Svetlana Morelli of Largo, FL and Richard and Marian Morelli of
Largo, FL,
sister, Linda and Frank Pocorobba of Catskill, NY, brother Robert and
Susan
LaBuff of Catskill, NY, seven grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Matthew,
Robert,
Daniel, Andrey and Angela.
A memorial service will be held at a
later date. In lieu of flowers make
memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. William Frank Hall,
age 93, of Owltown Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15,
2012 at
his home following an extended illness. Mr. Hall was born on Nov. 26,
1919 in
Cochran, GA, the son of the late George T. Hall and the late Clara
Methvin
Hall. William was a veteran of the US Marines during WWII. He was a
lifetime
member of the D.A.V., over fifty year member of the Azaela Masonic
Lodge #716
F&AM in Valdosta, GA, a fifty year Shriner of the Hasan Temple of
Albany,
GA and a lifetime member of the Toccoa Elks Lodge. He retired from the
US
Postal Service after many of years of service. William was a loving
father,
brother, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He
was
preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Sellers Hall, three sisters,
Georgia
Whitehead, Marie James and Bessie Hall , two brothers, Evans Hall and
George T.
Hall Jr. Mr. Hall was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Hall are one son and daughter-in-law, William "Bo" and Bernice
Hall of Woodstock, GA, one daughter and son-in-law, Betty "B.J." and
Gene Stoudt of Tallahassee Fl and Blairsville, seven grandchildren,
Stephanie
and Justin Meredith of Canton, GA, Jenny and Steve Abernathy of York,
SC, Dena
and Dr. Chris Corsentino of Mobile, AL, Kim and Nick Grisham-Dippolito
of
Woodstock, GA, Charlene and Barry Scott of Ellijay, GA, Teri Bovell of
Pinellas
Park, FL, Gene R. and Janice Stoudt of Tallahassee, twelve great
grandchildren,
three great-great grandchildren, one son, adopted by heart only, Ben
and Deb
Collins of Panama City, FL, his true and faithful Border Collie, Pedro,
many
special nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A
Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and will be
announced.

Mr. James
"Jim" H.
Hoyt II, age 83, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, December 9,
2012.
Mr. Hoyt was born in
Tappan, NY on March 16, 1929 to the late James & Violet Smith Hoyt.
Jim was
a Army Veteran of the Korean War. He served as a police officer for
Clarkstown
Police Department in New York for 23 years until his retirement. Jim
held a
level of pride for his homes appearance. He made sure that his lawn was
in
pristine condition. He was quite competitive when it came to games and
was
known to be very thrifty due to growing up during the depression. Jim
recently
found a love for reading especially detective genres. He was preceded
in death
by his parents and brother, Kenneth Hoyt.
Jim will be fondly
remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family:
loving wife
of 19 years, Bette Hoyt of Blairsville; step-daughters and their
husbands,
Terrell & Hal Shortsleeve, Kim & William Labarge;
step-daughter, Jay
Blair Boyd; and sisters, Doris Heilfurth and Barbara Kalstad.
No memorial services
are planned at this time.
