Mrs.
Eileen Rita Christensen, 69, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Sunday,
December 10, 1995 in Florida.
Mrs.
Christensen was a native of Massachusetts, but had
lived in this area since 1981, coming here from West Palm Beach,
Florida. She worked as a registered nurse
in West Palm
Beach for many years. Mrs. Christensen
was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving
are her husband, Evans Christensen, of Blairsville; children: John
Christensen,
Theresa Cantrell and Joan Hall, all of Blairsville and David
Christensen, of
Wet Palm Beach; sisters, Marie Laulbach, of West Palm Beach, Edith
Greene, of
Daytona Beach, and Pauline Duplease, of Leominster, Mass., and
brothers, Bob
Dufour of Lancaster, Mass., and Raymond Dufour, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.;
six grandchildren
also survive.
Funeral mass
was held Thursday, December 14, 1995 at 11:00 AM from St. Francis of
Assisi
Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donaghey officiating.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Mrs.
Lela Botts Voyles, age 90, of Fayetteville, Georgia, formerly of this
area, passed
away Thursday, December 14, 1995 in Fayetteville. Mrs.
Voyles was preceeded (sic) in death by
her husband Mr. Clarence Voyles and was a member of the First Baptist
Church of
Blairsville.
Survivors
include one son and daughter in law Charles and
Helen Voyles of Fayetteville. Two
grandchildren and three great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and
many
other friends and relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, December 16, at 10:00 AM from the Mowell
Funeral
Home Chapel in Fayetteville, with Rev. Jack Overton and Rev. David
McGowen
officiating. Graveside services were
conducted at 3:00 PM from the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in
Morganton,
Georgia with Rev. Danny Parris and Rev. Grady Ray officiating.

Mr.
Ronald F. Eckert, 74, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,
December 11,
1995 in Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Mr. Eckert was born February 13, 1921, in
Newark, New Jersey, the son of the late Mary Eckert.
Mr.
Eckert was a veteran of the United States Air Force,
serving as Lieutenant in World War II, and was a recipient of the
Distinguished
Flying Cross and Air Force Air Medal. He
was a former New Jersey State Trooper as well as an investigator with
the
Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Mr. Eckert retired from the United States Customs Service in
1975.
Mr. Eckert
was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville,
and the
Butternut Creek Golf Club in Blairsville.
Surviving is his wife, June Eckert, of the home; daughter,
Patricia M.
Hill, of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, James Ronald Eckert, of
Durham, North
Carolina; brothers, John V. Eckert of Spring Lake, New Jersey, and
James W. Eckert,
of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Hill
and
grandson, James M. Hill, III, both of Charlotte.
Funeral Mass
was held Friday, December 15, 1995 at 11:00 AM from St. Francis of
Assisi
Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donaghey officiating.

Mr.
Hubert
L. Butt, 94, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, December 12,
1995 in
Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mr. Butt
was born in Union County, Georgia, on May 14, 1901, a son of the late
James
Allen Butt and Ellen Owenby Butt. He had
lived in this area for most of his life and was a retired College
Professor. Mr. Butt was a member of
First United Methodist Church of Union County.
Surviving are
his wife, Mrs. Louise Butt, of Blairsville; son, Dr. James A. Butts, of
Gainesville; grandchildren: Dr. James Allen Butts, Jr., of Gainesville;
Larry
E. Butts of Birmingham, Al., and Katherine L. Butts, of Nashville,
Tenn.; many
friend and other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, December 13, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the
chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Darby and Rev. Jerry Helton
officiating. The following gentlemen
served as
pallbearers: Rex Owenby, Robert Butt, Gollie Easter, Frank Merritt, Ray
Rogers,
and Bob Head. The following gentlemen
served as honorary escort to the family: June Stroud, Kenneth Jenkins,
Jack
Lance, and Bud Akins. Special music was
presented by Mildred and Nelson LeCroy. Interment
was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville.

Mr.
Lowell
M. Peacock of Blairsville passed away December 5, 1995 at his home. Lowell was born January 4, 1918, Pontiac,
MI. He retired from Pontiac Motors in
1974. he was
laid to rest in Michigan.
He was
survived by his sister, June Walls of Blairsville;
daughter, Kathleen Newcombe (Fred) of Ft. Worth, TX; gran-children:
(sic)
Terra, Jason, Philip, and Patricia Newcombe; Kelly and Amber Combs of
Oklahoma
City, OK.
He was
preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Edna
Teeple of Pontiac, MI.
