mrs. cora j. jones

 

Mrs. Cora J. Jones, age 86, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2004 at her home in Blairsville.

Mrs. Jones was born in Cherokee County, NC, on Wednesday, September 11, 1918, a daughter of the late John Murphy and Callie Mashburn Murphy.  She had worked as a nurses aid in the hospital, and was a member of Jones Creek Church of God.  Her husband, Jewell William Jones, passed away in 1991.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Terrell and Evelyn Jones, of Blairsville; granddaughters and their husbands, Lisa and Donald Weaver, and Jennifer and Sam Gentry, all of Blairsville; granddaughter, Kimberly Jones of Blairsville; great grandchildren: Jaron Weaver, Megan Weaver, Samantha Gentry, and Jenna Gentry.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 20, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Jones Creek Church of God, with rev. Randolph Jones and Rev. Phillip Jackson officiating.  Special music was presented by Ken and Elaine Young and Jaron Weaver.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Dallas Taylor, Ranny Jones, Wendall Murphy, Donald Weaver, Sam Gentry, and Hank Jones.  Burial was in Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

mr. edward leroy anderson

 

Edward Leroy Anderson, age 83, of Blairsville, GA, passed away at his home on Friday, December 10, 2004.

Mr. Anderson was born and raised in Totowa Borough, NJ, a son of the late Robert and Ida Dunkerley Anderson.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Maries, and served during World War II, in the South Pacific.  A former owner of a school bus company in New Jersey, later he owned and operated restaurants in New Jersey, Highlands, NC and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Mr. Anderson, along with his wife, Thelma, also operated The Eaton House in Cleveland, Ohio for a number of years.  Mr. Anderson had lived in Blairsville since 1995, moving there from Ft. Lauderdale.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Schneider Anderson, of Blairsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Nick Lamendola, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Barbara and Bill Rohloff, of Blairsville, and Thelma and Mike Seitz, of Las Vegas; son, Ed Anderson, of Blairsville; brother, Tom Anderson, of Kawkawlin, Michigan; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services were Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Mike Hardy officiating.

captain harvey marvin wruble

 

            Captain Harvey Marvin Wruble, age 83, of Moon Ridge, Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Wruble was born on July 25, 1921 in Kingston, PA, the son of the late Louis Wruble and the late Ida Acoff Wruble.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of WWII where he served as Captain.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Gisela Ludecke in 1984 and by a sister, Hilda Watkins in 1982.

            Surviving Mr. Wruble are one son and daughter-in-law, Jock and Carol Wruble of Moon Ridge, Blairsville, one grandson, S/Sgt. Joshua Cale Wruble of Hawaii, and is currently in the U.S. Marine Corps where he is currently serving proudly in Afghanistan.

            A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of Hiawassee in Mr. Wruble’s memory.

mr. james buell elliott

 

            Mr. James Buell Elliott, age 99, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2004.

            Mr. Elliott was born in Union County, GA, on Monday, January 9, 1905, a son of the late James L. Elliott and Leanna Chapman Elliott.  Mr. Elliott lived in Tullahoma, TN for 40 years, and then moved to Hiawassee, GA in 1994.  He spent the last years of his life in Union County.  Mr. Elliott was a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Raper Elliott.

            Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Norman Bennett, of Hiawassee, GA; brother, Dale Elliott, of Blairsville; other relatives and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, with Dr. John Kay officiating.  Special music was presented by Mrs. Jackie Hill.
