Mr. Louis
Henderson,
age 65 of Blairsville passed away Saturday evening at the Union General
Hospital. Louis was born May 9, 1945 in
Marietta, Georgia the son of Wayne and Zelma Plott Henderson. He was a Lifelong resident of Union County
where he was a member, Deacon and Choir Director at Bethlehem Baptist
Church. Louis was also a member of the
Faith Singers
Gospel Group for over 40 years. He was
also a member of Young Cane Lodge #597 F&AM. Louis
was preceded in death by his brother,
Rev. Leon Henderson and his father-in-law, Rev. Vernon Davenport.
Survivors
include
his wife, Betty Davenport Henderson; son and daughter-in-law, Casey and
Amanda
Henderson; parents, Wayne and Zelma Plott Henderson; brother and
sister-in-law,
Larry and Bonnie Henderson; mother-in-law, Bonnie Davenport;
sister-in-law,
Ginger Henderson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Roy
Hefner, all
of Blairsville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Wayne
Aldridge
of Cleveland, GA, Anita and Robert Olmos and Marie and Bruce
Fortenberry of
Calhoun, GA. Many nieces, nephews and
other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were
held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Cochran
Funeral
Home of Blairsville with Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Max Padgett
officiating. The family received friends
at the funeral
home Monday evening from 6 until 9. Music
was provided by the Dixie Aires. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Mac Mason, Vic Botts,
Richard
Tanner, Sheldon Henderson, Jeremy Henderson, Wayne Aldridge and Brian
Mason. Honorary pallbearers were the
following gentlemen,
Cotton Harris, Hoyt Brown, Norman Green, David Stokes, Robert Olmas,
Isaac
Stokes, Nick Fortenberry, Roy Hefner and Bruce Fortenberry. Interment was in the Bethlehem Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr.
Kenneth M. Justice, 67, of Ball Ground,
GA, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 16 at
Emory
Hospital Midtown. Kenneth was born
November 7, 1943, in Young Harris, GA, to the late Henry and Ruby
Justice. He was preceded in death by his
brothers, Wade,
Robert and Olen Justice, and sisters Emogene Patrick and Mary Will
Justice.
Survivors include sisters, Sue
Roberts of Blairsville, Frances Lancaster of Lawrenceville, Jeanette
Patrick of
Hiawassee, and one brother, William Justice of Lawrenceburg, TN.
Kenneth served four years in the US
Air Force, stationed in Texas and Turkey.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM
Thursday, November 18, from the graveside at Georgia National Cemetery
with
Rev. Bill Byrd officiating.

Mr.
Russell Allen
Crawford, age 88, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December
13,
2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.
Russ was
born near
Cleveland, TN on October 19, 1922. He
was the youngest remaining of 10 children born to Oscar Handerson
Crawford and
Ethel Russell Crawford. He worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company
for 40
years in Georgia and North Carolina, as well as stints in New York and
Philadelphia. Taking a leave of absence
from his job when World War II began, he served proudly in the US Navy.
After retiring in 1981, he and the love of
his
life, Joyce, moved to Blairsville. He
was a devout and active member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville
for many
years, serving on the Deacon Board, teaching Sunday School classes,
Vacation
Bible School and as a church greeter. Preceding Russ in death were his
father,
mother, nine siblings, his wives: Evelyn Shropshire Crawford and Joyce
Darlene
Lunsford Crawford; as well as his youngest son, Timothy Russell
Crawford and a
granddaughter, Sarah.
He is
survived by
his children: son, Michael Crawford of Clemmons, NC; son and
daughter-in-law,
Chris and Gail Crawford of Huntersville, NC; daughter and son-in-law,
Patti and
Mark Fisher, of Clemmons, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gig
Hilton of
Lexington, NC; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many
nieces,
nephews and friends.
Funeral
services were
held on Friday, December 17, 2010, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of
Blairsville, with Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Russ
was eulogized by his son, Chris. Special
music was presented by Minister R.
Terry Hooper and Paula Hooper. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: George Radcliffe, Harold
dyer,
Kenley Redditt, Homer Payne, Horace Parker, Hoyt Raper, Mickey
Cummings, and
Harlan Underwood. Burial was in Union
Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation was
held at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Blairsville,

Mrs.
Dorothy Jeanne
Phillips, age 84, of Ryan Rd., Blairsville passed away on Sunday Dec.
19, 2010
in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs.
Phillips
was born on July 14, 1926 in Missoorie UP India, the daughter of the
late Edwin
Carl Linden and the late Rose Faulkner Linden. Dorothy
enjoyed gardening and spending time
with family and friends. She was kind
hearted and always could find the best in everyone. She
was a loving wife, mother, sister and
grandmother. Mrs. Phillips was a member
of the Hillcrest Assembly of God Church in Hayesville.
Surviving
Mrs.
Phillips are her loving husband of fifty-two years, Aubrey Phillips of
Blairsville,
one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jess Graves of Roswell, GA,
two sons
and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Phillips of Roswell, Rod and Elia
Phillips of
Haywood, CA, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Eldred and Marilyn
Linden of
Ft. St. John Canada, Donald Linden of Chino Hills, CA, seven
grandchildren,
Claire, Vanessa, Jonathan, Gavin, Marie, Adam and Calvin, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral
services
will be held on Wednesday Dec. 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Hillcrest
Assembly
of God Church in Hayesville with the Rev. Rod Phillips and Rev. Aline
Mostello
officiating. The following gentleman
will serve as pallbearers, Jackie, Johnny and Gary Bounds, Norman
Cooper, Roy
Mosteller and Mike Patterson. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery. The
family will meet with friends at the church on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.

Ruth
M.
Rolader, age 96, passed away Sunday, December 12, at her home in
Blairsville,
Georgia. Formerly Ruth Virginia Messick,
she was born on February 27, 1914 in Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter
of Fred
and Blanche McKay Messick. She was
preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia R. Vickers and her husband,
William
J. Rolader.
Ruth
is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William F. and LaVerne Rolader
of Sky
Valley, Georgia; grandchildren, Daniel F. Vickers of Lilburn; David M.
Vickers
of Cumming; Mr. and Mrs. Brian (Dianna) Brooks of Cumming; Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas
A. Vickers of Between; Mr. W. Jonathan Rolader of Lakemont; Mr. and
Mrs. D.
Kyle Rolader of Lakemont; Mr. Michael G. Rolader of Charlotte, North
Carolina;
and Ms. Melinda A. Rolader of Woodstock; six great-grandchildren and

great-great-grandson.

services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Crest Lawn Cemetery in
Atlanta,

Mr.
Frank Paul Piccolo, age 82, of Spring Cove Lane Blairsville, Ga.,
formerly of
Panama City, FL. passed away on Wednesday Dec. 15, 2010 in the Union
General
Hospital following a brief illness. Mr.
Piccolo was born on Sept. 11, 1928 in Pottstown, PA, the son of the
late Peter
Piccolo and the late Vincenza Sissini. He
was a WWII veteran. Frank was a Business
Agent for IBEW Local 1000 for over fifteen years. He
was owner and operator of the Playhouse
Country Western Club on Panama City Beach for several years. He was a lover of the outdoors and an avid
fisherman of the Florida waters. He was
a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. Mr. Piccolo was a member of Choestoe Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mr. Piccolo are his loving wife of twenty-one years, Judi Vandenberg
Piccolo of
Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carolina Ortloff
of
Alpharetta, GA, one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ortloff and John
Hightower of Tallahassee, FL, one brother, Andy Picciolo (sic) of
Reading, PA,
one sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Emit Glance of Puget Sound,
WA, two
grandchildren, Ian Alexander and Lilly Ortloff, several nieces,
nephews, many
other relatives and friends also survive.
A
private memorial service will be held at a later date. In

American
Kidney Foundation in memory of Mr. Piccolo.

Mr. David
Shrimpton
Davis, age 73 of Butternut Creek Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Saturday Dec.
18, 2010 in the North East Ga. Medical Center following a brief
illness. Mr. Davis was born on Nov. 1,
1937 in Red
Jacket, W. VA, the son of the late G. Frank Davis and the late Alice
Erdene
Shrimpton Davis. David served in the US
Air Force from 1957-1961. He was on
staff at the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. 1967-1994, retiring
to
Blairsville, GA in 1994. While in
Colorado, David enjoyed hiking and mountain climbing, cross country
skiing and
snowshoeing. In retirement he continued
to enjoy camping and traveling. He also
has done volunteer work for the Chamber of Commerce and for churches. He was also a great advocate for Missions. He was preceded in death by his daughter,
Kirsten L. Davis. Mr. Davis was a member
of the Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Davis
are his loving wife of forty-five years, Barbara Carlson Davis of
Blairsville,
two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jonathan and Sarah Davis of Roanoke
Rapids, NC,
Timothy and Amy Davis of Chicago, IL, two brothers and sisters-in-law,
F. Mark
and Kay Davis of Silver Spring, MD, Danny Joe and Pat Davis of Miami,
FL, one
sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Richard Singleton of Rincon, GA,
two
grandchildren, Nathan Davis and Susannah Davis, sister-in-law, Beveryly

Mrs.
Florence Elizabeth Hughes age 74 of Sharp Top Circle, Blairsville
passed away
on Tuesday December 14, 2010 following an extended illness. Mrs. Hughes was born on June 17, 1936 in
Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Ira Bethel Webb and the late
Helen
Troutman Webb. She was a loving wife,
mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Florence
was a former member of the Union
County Garden Club and had participated in Relay For Life for several
years. She was preceded in death by a
brother, James
Webb and by a sister, Evelyn D’Marzio. Mrs.
Hughes was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Hughes are her loving husband of fifty-four years, Frederick James
Hughes
of Blairsville, two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Ann and Tom
Cafone of
Lakeworth, FL, Patricia Hughes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, one son and
daughter-in-law,
Frederick and Sabrina Hughes Jr. of Orlando, FL, one brother, Frederick
Webb of
San Diego, CA, one sister, Winifred Maloney of Tamarac, FL, seven
grandchildren, Joseph and Frankie Cafone, Jacqueline Harrington,
Maryann
Tremblay, Frankie, Patrick and Kimberly Hughes, one great grandchild,

survive.

services were held on Saturday Dec. 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. from St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. Special music was presented by Ron Gaucher. Interment followed in Our Lady Queen of
Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, FL.

be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Hughes memory. The family met with friends at the funeral
