Mr.
Robert Edward Michael, age 51, of Blairsville, GA passed away Tuesday,
December
8, 1998 following a period of declining health.
Mr. Michael was born in Elgin, IL the son of the late Charles
and Evelyn
Brasher Michael. Surviving are his wife
Mrs. Donna Michael of Blairsville, GA; daughter, Kimberly Michael of
Coldwater,
MI; sons: Robbie Michael and Creighton Stafford both of St. Petersburg,
FL;
brothers: Johnny Hugh Michael of Pinellas Park, FL, Charles H. Michael
of New
Port Richie, FL; sister Michelle Dehart of Sarasota, FL, two
grandchildren and
a number of nieces and nephews. Memorial
services were held December 11, 1998 from the First Baptist Church in
Blairsville, GA. In lieu of flowers the
family
requests donations in memory of Mr. Michael be sent to Hand and Hand
Hospice,

Mr.
John Oliver ‘Hosey’ Allen, age 77, of Blairsville passed away Sunday,
Dec. 13,
1008 in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Allen
was born Dec. 8, 1922 in Fannin County, GA, the son of Jim and Cosby
Ledford
Allen. He has lived most of his life in
Fannin and Union Counties and was a member and Deacon of Pleasant Hill
Baptist
Church.
Mr. Allen
was also a WII Navy Veteran. He was
preceeded in death by a brother, William ‘Bill’ Allen and a daughter,
Bonnie
Allen.
Survivors
include: wife, Irene Payne Allen of the home; son and daughter-in-law,
Richard
and Susie Allen of Canton, GA.; daughter and son-in-law, Minnie David
Chapman
of Alpharetta, GA.; son and daughter-in-law, James and Anita Allen of
Mineral
Bluff, GA.; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Ronda Allen of
Blairsville;
daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Bob Grant of Woodstock, GA.;
daughter, Donna
Panter of Jonesboro, GA.; brother, Ralph Allen, of Hampton, Ga.;
sister, Ruth
Long of Norcross, GA.; sister, JoAnn Willis of Morganton, GA.; sister,
Martha
Holloway of Ellijay, GA.; brother, Melvin Allen of Morganton, GA.;
brother,
Robert Allen, also of Morganton; and brother, J.R. Allen of Blue Ridge,
GA; 12
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998 at 11 a.m.
from the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev.
Steve
Youngblood and Rev. Earl Pickelsimer officiating.
The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Chris
Chapman, Gary Chapman, James Grady Allen, Wendall Payne, Kenny Payne
and Tracy
Green.
Interment
was in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Mattie Elizabeth Lindsey, age 89, of Blairsville passed away Monday,
Dec. 14,
1998 in the union County Nursing Home.
Mrs.
Lindsey, a native of Colquitt County, GA, had moved here form Pembroke
Pines,
FL. She had lived in Blairsville for the
past four years. Mrs. Lindsey was a
member of the Treasure Island Baptist Church in Okeechobee, FL.
Survivors
include her daughter, Carolyn Quinn of Blairsville; sour sisters:
Nadine
Ferrell of Okeechobee, FL.; Bertha Babbs of Mt. Dora, FL. And Mamie
Hughes and
Natha Lee Newson, both of North Carolina; three grandchildren: Mike
Quinn,
Sharon Mest and Chris Quinn, all of Blairsville. many other relatives
and friends also survive.
Graveside
services were held Thursday, Dec 17, 1998 from the
Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellington, GA.

Mrs.
Othena Dye Dockery, age 80, of Blairsville, passed away Saturday,
December 12,
1998 in the Stephens County Medical Center in Toccoa.
Mrs. Dockery was born December 26, 1917 in
Union County, the daughter of Sam and Lillie Barnes Dye.
She was a lifelong resident of this area and
was of the Baptist Faith. She was
preceded in death by a daughter, opal Dockery.
Survivors
include: 7 sons, Buell, Troy, Cecil, and Tommy Dockery, all of
Blairsville,
Ralph Dockery of Morganton, Marty Dockery of Apex, NC, and Kenneth
Dockery of
Cleveland, GA; 2 daughters, Wanda Webb and Sherry Dockery, Both of
Blairsville;
one sister, Gertrude Dye of Brasstown, NC; and 2 brothers, Virgil Dye
of
Brasstown, NC and Verlin Dye of Apex, NC. 18 grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, December 15, 1998 from
the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev.
Frank
Dockery officiating. Music was provided
by the Wilson Brothers and by L.D. and Irene Buchanan.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Tony Dockery, Steve Dockery, Robbie Dockery, Scott Webb,
Coy
Dockery and Adam Dockery. Interment was
in the Pinelog Cemetery.

Mr.
Ronnie Wimpey, age 42, of Blairsville passed away Wednesday, December
16, 1998
at his home. Mr. Wimpey was a lifelong
resident of Union County and a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.
He is
survived by his wife, Connie Owenby Wimpey of the home; 2 sons,
Nicholas and
Matthew Wimpey, also of the home: Parents A.J. and Alwayne Wimpey of
Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Becky and John Seabolt of
Blairsville;
mother-in-law, Joann Owenby of Blairsville; brother-in-law, Roger
Owenby of
Marietta, Georgia. Many other relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, December 19, 1998 at 2
p.m. from the Old Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Young
officiating. Music was provided by Neal
and Patsy
Efird. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Gerald Cook, Ronnie Evans, Chris Souther, Danny Bridges,
Chris
Carr and Bobby Lance. Interment was in
the Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
