Mrs.
Ann Bowers Totherow, age 65, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday,
December
21, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs.
Totherow was born Tuesday, November 9, 1943 in Union
County, GA, to the late Luther Bowers and the late Ada Rich Bowers. She was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church
in Gainesville, GA, and was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie
Bowers
and Robert Bowers.
Surviving
family members include her loving husband, Charles Totherow of
Blairsville;
daughter & son-in-law, Alesia and Vance Harris, Blairsville;
daughter &
son-in-law, Angela and Jeff Graham Gainesville; grandchildren: Kali
graham,
Preston Graham and Madalyn Clark; sisters, Ruby Warren, Margie Harkins
and
Daisy groves, all of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews and many
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services for Mrs. Totherow were held Tuesday December 23, 2008 at 2 PM
from the
Cochran Funeral Home – Blairsville Chapel with the Rev. Henry Loggins
and Rev.
Jeff Graham officiating. Music was
provided by Susan McQueen. Interment
followed in Mt Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were the following
gentlemen: Don Long, Jim Filler, D.L. Head, Matt Munn, Larry Trulove,
and Tommy
Bowers.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 5-10 PM, Monday, December 22.

Mr. Cora
Frances Meservey, age 93, of Cartersville, GA, formerly of Blairsville,
GA,
passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008.
Miss Meservey was born Friday, April 30, 1915 in Androscoggin
County,
ME, to the late Benjamin Edward Meservey and the late Eva Richardson
Meservey. Miss Meservey was a retired
school teacher,
and a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County, United
Methodist
Women, Florida State Grange 7th Degree, and Bates College Alumni
Association.
Surviving
family members include: nephew and wife, Ed and Sharon Vosburgh of
Cartersville; niece and husband, Marilyn and Kent Pitcher, of
Grandville, OH.
Memorial
services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 27, 2008 from the
First
United Methodist Church of Union County, with the Rev. Ben Lewis
officiating.
In lieu of

anne poffenberger
Little
Miss Chloe Anne Poffenberger went to be with Jesus on Tuesday Dec. 16,
2008 in
the Union General Hospital.
Surviving
Chloe are her loving parents, Justin and Stephanie (Keen) Poffenberger
of
Mayesville, GA, two brothers, Conner and Andrew Poffenberger of
Mayesville,
grandparents, Steve and Sharon Keen of Blairsville, Robin Poffenberger
of new
Carlisle, OH, Blaine Poffenberger of Homer, GA, great grandparents
George and
Shirley Keen of Blairsville, Lyndely Poffenberger of OH, Nancy and Jim
Gangwer
of FL, many other relatives also survive.
A memorial

Mrs.
Mildred McDaris Cook, age 85, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday,
December
14, 2008 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Cook
was born to the late Irene and Earl McDaris of Morganton, GA, on
January 15,
1923. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Ned Cook, and is survived by two sisters, Willa Nell Cook of
Norcross,
GA, and Jerry Justus, of Auburn, GA, and sister-in-law, Beverly Kimsey
of
Hiawassee. She is also survived by
numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Mrs. Cook
is also survived by a treasured group of friends and colleagues,
developed
during her lengthy career as an educator.
Mildred retired form the Union County School System after over
40 years
of teaching, with over 35 of those years in Union County.
During her years of teaching, she touched the
lives of many Union County children, their children, and even their
grandchildren. For many years, she
participated in the Retired Teacher’s Association.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of
Blairsville.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 2 PM from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Parris officiating.
Music was provided by Mrs. Martha Ann
Cone. Interment followed in Union Memory
gardens, in Blairsville. Serving as
pallbearers were Mrs. Cook’s nephews.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 12-2 PM, Wednesday, December
17.

Mr. Jerry
Wallace, age 54, of Penny Lane Murphy, NC, formerly of Blairsville,
passed away
on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 in Erlanger Medical Center following an
extended
illness. Mr. Wallace was born on June
11, 1954 in Lumpkin County, GA, the son of the late Wesley Homer
Wallace and
the late Vandoria Seabolt Wallace. Jerry
liked to work on small engines. He was
employed with Christian Love Ministries of Murphy for the past several
years. Mr. Wallace attended Bell Hill
Baptist Church.
Surviving
MR. Wallace are one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Brenda
Wallace of
Blairsville, two sisters, Juanita Seabolt of Murphy, Betty Willingham,
several
nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Seabolt and Rev. Denny Smith
officiating. Special music was presented
by Bobby Sneed
and Denny Smith. The family met with
friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Retter Sue Price Bailey, age 60, of Blairsville, Georgia, died
Saturday,
December 20, 2008. She was born in
Newton County to the late Hugh Price on October 1, 1948,
she graduated form Newton County High School in 1966 and was Homecoming
Queen
in 1965. Mrs. Bailey attended
Harmony
Grove Baptist Church in Blairsville and was a longtime member of Julia
A.
Porter United Methodist Church. She
enjoyed crafts and gardening, she moved making people laugh and was
loved by
everyone who knew her. Mrs. Bailey was a
loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister,
sister-in-law and friend.
Mrs. Bailey
is survived by her husband, Keith Bailey, Blairsville, son and
daughter-in-law
Dr. Garrick and Vicki Bailey, Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law;
Greta and
Joel Miller, Blairsville, mother and step father Juritta and Grady
Price Allen,
Covington, in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Winford Bailey, Blairsville, brothers
and
sisters; Randy Price, Covington, Gary and Jenny Price, Blairsville,
Gayle and
Rick Walden, Covington, Timmy and Kandy Price, Covington, Tammy and Rob
Stell,
Madison, grandcchildren; (sic) Tyler and
Ashley, Bradley, Bailey and Ryleigh Miller, Ashton and Alana Bailey and
great
grandchild Cayden Keith Miller.
Funeral
services for Mrs. Bailey were held at 11 AM Monday, December 22, 2008
at the
Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church with Pastor John Ozley and
Pastor Stacy
Dyer officiating. Interment was held at
4 PM Monday at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville. Mrs. Bailey’s grandsons and brothers served
as pallbearers. The family received
friends at the funeral home Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 6 PM until 8
PM. Wheeler Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
