Harold
Plott, age 79
of Blairsville passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at his home.
Harold
was born
November 26, 1931 in Blairsville, one of 12 children born to Claude and
Flossie
Owenby Plott. He was a lifelong resident
of Union County and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
He was also a member of the Allegheny Lodge
#114 F&AM in Blairsville. Harold
worked for many years for the state of Georgia as an Agriculture
Inspector. He was preceded in death by:
5 sisters; Nina Sue Plott, Hayzel Plott Miller, Grapel Plott Powell,
Inez Plott
Underwood and Geraldine Plott Spive, and 3 brothers, J.B. Plott, Bobby
H. Plott
and Ralph Plott.
Survivors
include
his wife of 57 years, Patricia Hedden Plott, son and daughter-in-law,
Michael
and Donna Cox Plott of Blairsville; sisters, Zell Plott Henderson and
her
husband, Wayne Henderson, Lois Plott Dyer and Betty Plott Kelley and
her
husband, Jack Kelley, all of Blairsville; grandsons, James Dale Stanley
and his
wife Laura and Nathan Dean Stanley and his wife, Sharon; great
grandsons,
Colton Stanley and Nathan Stanley; and great granddaughter, Kyndal
Stanley. Many nieces and nephews also
survive.
A
celebration of
Harold's life was held Friday, December 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the
Antioch
Baptist Church with Rev. George Cline and Rev. Jeremy Henderson
officiating. The body lay in state at
the church from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Interment followed in the Union
Memory
Gardens Cemetery. The family received
friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Bobby Burch, Bill Parker, Ricky Davenport, Jerry Farner
and Jake
Farner.
Flowers
will be
accepted, however if you prefer, the family suggests donations be made
to the
Antioch Baptist Church Food Ministry.

Ellen May
MacLane, 89, of Milledgeville, GA,
formerly of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010 in
the
Georgia War Veteran’s Home in Milledgeville.
Mrs. MacLane was born on in Kings
County, NY on May 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Clarence MacLane and
the
late May Annabelle Butler MacLane. She
was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during World War II; later
she was
employed by New York City Civil Service.
Ms. MacLane was a former resident of Branan Lodge, and lived
there form
1992-2000. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving family members include
brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Flo MacLane, of Blairsville;
nephew,
Robert Richards, of Denver, CO, and niece, Judy Vento, of Port Richie,
FL.
Private graveside services were held
Monday, December 20, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery
in
Blairsville.

Lois
Corn, age 72 of
Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at Union General
Hospital. Mrs. Corn was born March 16,
1938 in Towns County to Vaughn and Mabel Thomas Hughes. Lois
had lived most of her life in Union
county after returning here from Atlanta where she and her husband
lived for a
number of years. She was a member of Old
Union Baptist Church in Young Harris. Mrs.
Corn was preceded in death by her husband, David Corn, parents, Vaughn
and
Mabel Thomas Hughes and sister, Bea Clark.
Survivors
include:
son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sharon Corn of Blairsville,
daughter, Pam
Corn of Blairsville, daughter, Jennifer Shook of Lilburn, GA,
granddaughter,
Tiffany Shook Daniels of Snellville, GA, grandson, Donovan Shook of
Blairsville, GA, great granddaughter, Cadance Shook of Snellville,
sister,
Flonnie Hughes of Young Harris, GA, sister, Elsie Nelson of
Gainesville, GA,
sister, Jean Galloway of Hiawassee, GA and Brother, Bud Hughes of
Blairsville, many
nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins also survive.
Funeral
services are
scheduled for Wednesday December 29, 2010 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of
the
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jimmy Hogsed officiating.
Music will be provided by Kristin Adams,
Sherrie Nelson Bryant and Sandi Brock. Interment
will be in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The following gentlemen
have been
requested to serve as pallbearers: Steve Clark, Jeff Nelson, Reggie
Nelson,
Marty Hughes, Chris Galloway and Don Lloyd. The
family will receive friends at the funeral
home Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m.

Jesse
Collice “J.C.” Swilley, age 77, of
Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away
on
Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
following a
sudden illness.
Mr. Swilley was born on March 19,
1933, In High Springs, Florida to the late Collice C. and Versie O.
Weeks
Swilley. He was also preceded in death
by one grandchild, Ashley Zofay, sister, Peggy Feamster, and brother,
Robert
Swilley. Mr. Swilley was a United States
Navy veteran having proudly served his country in the Korean conflict. He was a self-employed general contractor in
Florida. Mr. Swilley was of the
Christian faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Jean
a. Greene, Chesterfield, MO; brother, Delma Swilley, Boynton Beach, FL;
3
grandchildren, Jacob Greene, Connor Greene, and Caroline Greene; and
numerous
nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at a
later date in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Mr.
Joseph Dennis
(J.D.) Seabolt, age 72, of Liberty Church Rd., Blairsville passed away
on Monday
Dec. 20, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. Mr.
Seabolt was born on May 14, 1938 in Union
County, the son of the late Comer E. Seabolt and the late Bessie
Cornelia
Wimpey Seabolt. He was a native and
lifelong resident of Union County. He
and his wife Ruby had sang and played several instruments in many
churches in
and around the area. J. D., as known to
most everyone who knew him, was a loving husband, father, brother,
grandfather
and was a friend to many. One of his
favorite past times was coon hunting. J.
D. was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr.
Seabolt are his loving wife of forty-nine years, Ruby Wimpey Seabolt of
Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Harold Thompson of
Blairsville, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bobby Seabolt of
Blairsville,
Carl and Melissa Seabolt of Blairsville, one sister and brother-in-law,
Merlor
and Crett Dyer of Blairsville, three grandchildren, Alex, Christian and
Jerrell, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services
will be held on Wednesday Dec.22, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain View
Chapel
with the Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Special
music was presented by Lewis and Olene Dyer. The
following gentleman served as pallbearers,
Harold Thompson, John Seabolt, Benny Burnett, Jerry Dyer, Sid Dyer and
Larry
Dyer. Interment followed in the Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
