Mrs. Elizabeth Perrin

 

Mrs. Elizabeth Perrin, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 20, 199 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mrs. Perrin was born Saturday, November 30, 1912, in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Joseph Bombardier and Elizabeth Cullerton Bombardier.  She was a homemaker and had lived in Blairsville since 1990, coming from Marietta, Georgia.  She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.  Mrs. Perrin was preceded in death by her husband, Elliot C. Perrin, who passed away in 1991.

Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth P. Cole, of Blairsville; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cole of Avondale Estates, Georgia also survives.

Memorial services were held Thursday, December 23, 1999 at 11 am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Tim Gadziala officiating.

mr. pat h. wimpey

 

Services for Hap H. Wimpey were held at 1 p.m. Monday in New Elim Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.  Wimpey, 85, died Saturday, December 11, 1999.

A native of Union County, he was a veteran of the Pacific theater of World War II.  The widower of Rhoda Ensley Wimpey, he was retired from Robins Air Force Base.  He was a member of New Elim Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Fouts of Macon; brother and sister, Dr. John A. Wimpey of Hapeville, and Dessie Ledford of Blairsville; and three grandchildren.

mrs. hazel davenport thomas

 

Mrs. Hazel Davenport Thomas, age 83, of Morganton, Georgia, passed away Friday, December 24, 1999.  Mrs. Thomas was born in Union County, March 28, 1916, the daughter of the late William Ebern and Clara Teague Davenport.

Mrs. Thomas was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a member of new Union Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker.  Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Thomas, in 1991.

Survivors include sons Bob Thomas, Bryson Tomas and Bert Thomas, all of Morganton, GA; daughters Zebbie Cantrell of Marietta, GA, and Fannie Richards of Canton, A; brothers Rev. Vernon Davenport of Blairsville, GA, Dewey Davenport of Montgomery, AL, and Claude Davenport of Blairsville.  Ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 26, 1999, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating.  Music performed by the church choir.  Interment followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.  Grandsons served as pallbearers.

mrs. christie ann evans hughes

 

Mrs. Christie Ann Evans Hughes, age 25, of Riverbend Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 1999.  Mrs. Hughes was born on March 5, 1974 in Union County, the daughter of Ray Harris and Lisa Evans Harris.  She attended Union County Schools and was employed by H&H Poultry.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are one daughter, Celina Muriah Hughes, one son Julian Charles Hughes, both of Blairsville; mother and stepfather, Lisa and Mark Gowdowns of Ellijay; father, Ray Harris of Michigan; grandfather, Elmer Franklin of Blairsville, one sister, Jessica Nicole Gowdowns of Ellijay, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 24, 1999, form the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and the Rev. Jim Brock officiating.  Special music was presented by Tina Grey and Machele Webb.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Scott Adams, Gregg Adams, Keith Franklin, Derrick Arrowood, Randy Harkins, and Glen Stanley.  Interment followed in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Charles Israel Hughes, age 26, of Riverbend Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 1999.  Mr. Hughes was born on June 14, 1973 in Union County, the son of Charles Tom Hughes and Loella Kay Passmore Hughes.  He attended Union County Schools and was employed by H&H Poultry.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are one daughter, Celina Muriah Hughes, one son Julian Charles Hughes, both of Blairsville; mother Loella Kay Passmore of Blairsville; father and stepmother, Charles and Belynda Hughes of Blairsville; paternal grandmother, Ola Mae Hughes of Blairsville; maternal grandparents, Thomas D. and Mary E. Passmore; one sister, Kimberly Hughes of Blairsville, brothers, Adrian Shane and Gus Hughes, both of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 24, 1999, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and the Rev. Jim Brock officiating.  Special music was presented by Tina Grey and Machele Webb.

Mr. w.d. “dub” booth

 

W.D. “Dub” Booth, age 87, of Suches, Georgia, died Thursday, December 16, 1999 in Keene, Texas.  He was born September 1, 1912 in Cleburne, Texas.

He was an Aircraft Mechanic for General Dynamics for over 30 years.

He is survived by his daughter Joyce Horcher and her husband Dennis Horcher of Suches, GA; grandsons Chuck Yancey and wife Kate Yancey of Blairsville, GA; W. Craig Yancey and wife Jane of Tampa, FL; granddaughters Carol Van Cleef and husband Doug of High Springs, FL; Maureen Herrera of Tampa, FL; 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Booth was interred in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas.  The family would like to extend their personal thanks to all our friends and family here in Georgia for all the well wishes and support.

miss bobbie etta walsh

 

Miss Bobbie Etta Walsh, age 68, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, December 24, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Miss Walsh was born in Union County, Georgia, on Monday, April 20, 1931, a daughter of the late Bryan Walsh and Josie Reece Walsh.  She lived most of her life in the Atlanta area, where she had been employed in data processing.  Miss Walsh was a member of Blairsville Church of Christ.  She as been preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Roberts.

Surviving are two sisters, Opal Patton of Blairsville, and Blanche Kelley also of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Blairsville Church of Christ with Minister David Macy and Minister Terry Stuart officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Bryan Roberts, Ronnie Kelley, Clay Robinson, Terry Queen, Terry Kelley and Jeff McCarter.  Interment was in Duncan Cemetery in Blairsville.

mrs. edna bauer mayer

 

Mrs. Edna Bauer Mayer, age 91, of Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 1999 in the Chatuge Nursing Home in Hiawassee following an extended illness.  Mrs. Mayer was born on March 31, 1908 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Charles F. Bauer and the late Carrie E. Keefe.  Mrs. Mayer was preceded in death by her husband Paul C. Mayer in 19884.  She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include one son, Charles Mayer of Blairsville; one brother, Charles A. Bauer of Baltimore; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.  Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
