Mrs.
Leone N. Foy, age 90, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of
Jacksonville,
Florida, passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998 in Union General
Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mrs. Foy
was born on Tuesday, October 27, 1908, in Duval County, Florida, a
daughter of
the late Wesley William Watson and Blanche Acosta Watson.
She was a retired secretary, and had lived in
Jacksonville for over 50 years. Mrs. Foy
moved to Blairsville in January of 1995, coming here from Lilburn,
Georgia. She has been preceded in death
by her parents, four brothers and her son Daris H. Foy, who passed away
in
1997.
Surviving are
a daughter, Marvel Goodwin, of Midland, Texas; daughter in law, Betty
Jane Foy,
of Blairsville; 5 grandchildren: Jan Goodwin King, of Austin, Texas;
Wendy
Goodwin Roberson, of Midland, Texas; Holly Foy Hruschka, of Bellefonte,
PA;
Belinda Foy, of FT. Oglethorpe, GA; and Melissa Foy, of Columbus, GA; 7
great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, December 23, 1998 at
11 a.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Dr.
Ross
Bair officiating. In lieu of Flowers, if
you wish, memorials may be made to the Grace Community Presbyterian
Church
Building Fund, PO Box 105, Blairsville, GA 30514 or to the American

Mrs.
Thelma Mae Nelson Fair, age 91, of Blairsville passed away Wednesday,
December
16, 1998 at her home. Mrs. Fair was born
January 1, 1907 the daughter of John Festus and Martha Lee Berry Nelson
in
Union County. She was a member of Zebulon
Baptist Church and had lived most of her life in Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband,
James Robert “Bob” Fair; a son, Johnny Richard “Dick” Fair; a grandson,
Brent
Hollaran; and a granddaughter, Carolyn Fair.
Survivors
include: Son and Daughter in law, Robert M and Patricia Fair of
Acworth, GA;
daughter and son in law, Ann and Larry Patterson of Blairsville;
daughter and
son in law, Peggy and Bill Martin of Cornelia, Ga; sister, Lorene
Nicholson of
Jasper, Ga; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 7 great-great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, December 18, 1998 at 2
p.m. from the Chapel of The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with
Rev. Danny
Parris officiating. Eulogies were
provided by two of her grandchildren, Mr. Jeff Patterson and Mrs.
Cheryl
Painter. Mrs. Debbie Hamby provided
music for the service. Interment was in
the Union memory Gardens Cemetery. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers; John Fair, Rob Fair, Jeff
Paterson,
Richard Hollaran, Jim Poteete, Jim Pinkard and Fred Painter.

Mrs.
Juanita Kelley, age 72, passed away Sunday, December 27, 1998 at her
home in
Branan Lodge early in the morning, quietly in her sleep.
Mrs. Kelley
was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Nell Butt. She was born in Union County, on February 3,
1926, and lived in Union County all of her life.
Mrs. Kelley
is survived by four children: Roger, Wayne, Opal Barnes, and Evelyn
Jones, all
of Blairsville; also surviving are eight grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren. She is also survived by
seven sisters: Lucille Jordan, of Blairsville, Ruby Hyde of Dalton, GA,
Louise
Owenby of Blairsville, Betty Patterson, of Dalton, GA, Pauline
Stephens, of
Blairsville, Barbara Coker, of Blairsville, and Claudine Souther of
Blairsville, and one brother, Sammy Butt of Blairsville.
She was a
member of the Jones Creek Church of Gad.
Mrs. Kelley worked at the dress factory for a number of years. Then was employed at the shoe factory where
she was later retired. Mrs. Kelley
enjoyed working with her flowers in her yard and enjoyed sewing and
talking
with her many friends on the phone,
Funeral
services were held Saturday, December 26th, 19898 at
11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home.
Special music was provided by Luther and Jane Sandodal with
Hillary
Kelley and Ken and Elaine Young. Minister were Rev. Tommy Jones, Rev. Ray Potts,
and Rev.
Terrell Jones. The
following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Donald Weaver, Ronnie Coker, Chris Fortenberry, Sam
Gentry, Danny
Owenby and Sammy Owenby.
Juanita’s
children know their mother’s love could only be
measured by God’s love, everlasting.
Interment
was in Union memory Gardens, Cochran Funeral Home
of Blairsville in Charge of arrangements.

mr. jake burton “j.B.” kelley, jr.
Mr.
Jake Burton, “J.B.” Kelley, Jr., age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia,
passed away
Tuesday, December 22, 1998 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mr. Kelley
was born Tuesday, September 19, 1922, and he had lived all his life in
Union
County. He was preceded in death by 3
brothers: Tommy, Frank, and Paul, and one sister, Minnie Duckworth. Mr. Kelley worked at Blairsville Hardware
with Paul Paris and Bruce Hunt until change of ownership.
Then he worked with Blairsville Electric, and
Mr. Bud Nichols, until he retired.
Survivors
include his wife, Brittle, of the Gilmer Nursing Home, whom he loved
and cared
for very much; two sons: Roger and Wayne; also two daughters: Evelyn
Jones and
Opal Barnes, all of Blairsville; two sisters: Maude Powers, of
Michigan, and
Julia Head of Atlanta; one brother, Virge, who is a resident of Union
County
Nursing Home; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also survive.
“Parting is
Sad” but in words comfort, he assured his children that he was saved
and knew Jesus
as his Savior.”

services were held Wednesday, December 23, 1998 at 2
p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev.
Leon
Henderson and Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating.
Special music was presented by Ken and Elaine Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Donald Weaver, Chris Fortenberry, Sam Gentry, Bretney
Barnes, W.H.
Hood, and Terry Queen. Mr. Kelley was
eulogized by Mr. Bud Nichols. Interment

in Blairsville City Cemetery.

Mrs.
Barbara Adams Franklin, age 59, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Saturday,
December 26, 1998 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Franklin was born in Fannin County, Georgia, on November 18, 1939, a
daughter
of the late Jesse Vincent Adams and Prairie Viola Elizabeth Walker
Adams. She lived in Fannin County, until
1970, when
she moved to Blairsville. She was a
member of Faith Baptist Church.
Surviving are
her husband, Elmer Franklin of Blairsville; daughters: Lisa Goodwin, of
Murphy,
NC; Sonja E. Franklin, of Blairsville; and Tamara Stanley, of Dalton,
GA; sons:
Scott Adams, of Blairsville, and Greg Adams of jasper, GA; sister,
Louise
Brown, of Lincolnton, NC; brothers: Ben Adams, of Suches, GA; Doug
Adams, also
of Suches; John Adams of Dahlonega, GA; and Vernon “Babe” Adams, of
Mineral
Bluff, Georgia; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.

Mr.
Marvin Robinson, age 69, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Thursday,
December
24, 1998 in Union County, Georgia.
Mr.
Robinson was born on Wednesday, May 1, 1929, in Cobb County, Georgia, a
son of
the late J.P. Robinson and Leola Brown Robinson. He
was a veteran of the US Air Force, and
served during the Korean Conflict, attaining the Rank of Staff Sergeant. He had lived in this area for the past 30
years, coming here from Marietta. He was
preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Jean Robinson, who passed away
in 1972,
Surviving are
his wife, Pat Duffee Robinson, of Blairsville; son, Michael P.
Robinson, of Blairsville;
daughter, Terry Lee Boyd, of Chatsworth, GA; and daughter, Traci
Martin, of
Blairsville; brother, Hugh D. Robinson, or Orlando; 4 grandchildren:
Trina
Robinson, of Blairsville, Ashley Lynch, of Chatsworth, and Ethan and
Eli
Martin, both of Blairsville, many friends and other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, December 27, 1998 at 1
p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Waymon Lovell
officiating. Special music was presented

Singers. Interment was in Georgia
Memorial Cemetery, in Marietta. In lieu

Mr.
James Williams of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday,
December 9,
1998 in Rahway Hospital, Rahway, NJ. He
was born in Cwmcarn, Wales and came to the US in 1928.
He was employed for many years with the City
of east Orange as a Meter Technician and retired in 1969.
He was a member of Fairth United Presbyterian
church in Seminole, FL. Also
an Original member of masons Nutley Lodge. He
was also a member of St. Davids Society of
St. Petersburg. He resided in East
Orange for many years before moving to Seminole, Florida in 1970 and in
1994. His wife is deceased Mary Jane
(Griffiths). He is survived by one
daughter Judy Muir of Blairsville, Georgia and one son Richard Williams
of
Cranford, NJ, also by 2 grandchildren.
Services are private.
