Mr. Terry
Neal Jones, age 47, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, February 5, 2001 in
Union county, GA.
Mr. Jones
was born Monday, July 20, 1953, in Cherokee County, NC. He was a lifelong resident of this area and
was a local cattle farmer. He attended
Enotah Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA.
Mr. Jones was a member of national Polled Hereford Association. He had been preceded in death by a brother,
Benny Jones, in 1980.
Survivors
include his parents, Ervin and Joyce Jones, of Blairsville; his maternal
grandfather, Rev. Ellard Nichols, of Blairsville; his daughter and son-in-law,
Melinda and Darren Groves, of Blairsville; his son and daughter-in-law, Brannon
and Leslie Jones, of Blairsville; A special friends, Teresa Dyer, of
Blairsville; nephew and niece, Billy Joe and Misty Jones, of Woodstock, GA;
sister and brother and sister-in-law, Trudy and Tony Smith; brother and
sister-in-law, Keith and Jan Jones, all of Blairsville; grandsons: Dustin “Tas”
Jones, Tylan “L.J.” Jones, and Dawson “Biggen” Groves; many nieces, nephews,
and other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, February 8, 2001, at 2 p.m., from Liberty Baptist
Church, with Rev. Tully Griggs Rev. Brent Chatham, and Rev. Billy Joe Jones
officiating. The eulogy was given by Dr.
David Gowder. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: J.W. Payne,
Ronnie Dyer, Danny Moore, Rev. Tommy Jones, Dr. David Gowder and Tom
Gilliland. Mr. Mike Payne served as
honorary escort to the family. Special
music was presented by Leslie Hughes.
Interment was in Jones Family Cemetery.

Mr. James
Ember Harris, age 63, of Boy Scout Rd., Blairsville, passed away on February 6,
2001 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Harris was born on January 26, 1938 in Athens, GA, the son of the
late Nolan Harris and the late Ovine Huff Harris. Mr. Harris was a retired fireman with the
city of Atlanta and also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Atlanta. He was of the Methodist Faith. He was also a veteran of the US Coast Guard.
Surviving
Mr. Harris are his loving wife of twenty six years, Beverly Bivins Harris of
Blairsville; four sons: David and Jeff Harris, both of Blairsville, James
Forsyth of Ellijay and Bill Harris of Houston, TX; one brother William Harris;
four grandchildren: Ryan, Bryan, Alexis and Madison Forsyth; many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, February 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. John Kay officiating.
Giving the Eulogy was Rev. Thomas Houston. Special music was presented by Margie
Chambers and Sarah Kelly. The Union Co.
Fire Dept. gave the “Last Call” to Mr. Harris.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Lee Edmundson, Michael Attard, Steve Garner,
Jimmy Davis, Tommy Carr and Doug McGuire.
Conducting the graveside services was the North GA Honor Guard. Interment followed in the Union Memory
Gardens Cemetery.

Mr.
Frederick Armstrong Gordon, age 73, of Woodstove Rd., Blairsville, passed away
on February 6, 2001, following a brief illness.
Mr. Gordon was born on March 27, 1927 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of
the late Lambert M. Gordon and the late Myrtle Berry Gordon. He was a retired design and development
engineer for new product development.
Surviving
Mr. Gordon are his loving wife of fifty years, Patricia Breen Gordon of
Blairsville; one son: David Gordon of Blairsville; three daughters: Pamela
Pruitt of E. Sandwich, MA, Melissa Egglesgon of St. Petersburg, FL, and
Jennifer Gordon of Clearwater, FL; one brother: John B. Gordon of Blairsville;
three sisters: Kathryn Michelson of Portland, ME, Mary Louise Gordon of St.
Louis, MO, and Alice Whittaker of Jacksonville FL; five grandchildren; many
other relatives and friends also survive.
In lieu
of flowers, if you wish the family requests that memorials may be made to the
Shirley Miller Life Long Learning Center of Blairsville or to your favorite
charity in Mr. Gordons memory.

Mr.
Leonard Roe Grizzle, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday,
February 10, 2001 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
Grizzle was born Monday, February 23, 1914, a son of the late Wesley Grizzle
and Flurry Harkins Grizzle. A native of
Union County, Mr. Grizzle had lived in Detroit, Michigan for 21 years, moving
back to Blairsville in 1968. He had been
preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Harkins Grizzle, in 1998; a son, Jesse
Grizzle, in 1963; and a daughter, Odell Dispane in 1990.
Survivors
include four daughters, Mae Norwood, Pauline Tipton, Lorene Stogsdill, and
Helen Hilton, all of Blairsville; sister, Della Warren of Winder, Georgia;
eleven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren also survive along with many
nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at 2 pm from the Chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Willis Garrett, Rev. Ray Potts,
and Rev. Horace Potts officiating.
Special music was presented by Hubert and Betty Legg. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Vernon Patterson, James
Burrell, Kenneth Grizzle, Johnny Cantrell, Don Rogers, and Bill Hughes. The following gentlemen served as honorary
escort to the family: Billy Nix and Sylvan Butt. Interment was in Philadelphia Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr.
Richard Karl Paulson, age 65, of 6125 State Hwy 60, Suches, GA, died Saturday,
February 10, 2001 at his residence, following a brief illness.
A
Brooklyn, NY native and former resident of Arlington, VA, Mr. Paulson had lived
in Suches, GA for the past 11 years. He
was the son of the late Karl J. and Veronica Ellis Paulson. Mr. Paulson was retired as a Petty Office
First Class from the U.S. Navy having served in Vietnam. Mr. Paulson was very active in the community,
especially with the Suches Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of V.F.W.
Post #7394 of Blairsville, GA and was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in
Suches.
Survivors
include his wife, Mrs. Patty Paulson of Suches, GA; one daughter, Kelly Paulson
of Berkeley Springs, W.VA; two sons, Shawn Paulson of Suches, GA and Kevin
Paulson of Gainesville, GA; two sisters, Geraldine Piccolo and Martha Mack,
both of Schenectady, NY; one brother, John Paulson of Rocky Point, NY; two
grandchildren, Patricia Angeline Tanksley and Kane Paulson. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives
also survive.
At his
request, Mr. Paulson was cremated and Memorial Services was at 3:30 pm, Monday,
February 12, 2001 from the Zion Baptist Church in Suches, GA, the Rev. Rex Long
and Rev. Bruce Daniel officiating.
Members of the Suches Volunteer Fire Department served as Honorary
Pallbearers.

Courtney
Ann HustonCraig-Costanzo died on February 10 2001, in Pensecola, Florida after
courageously fighting Acute Myelocytic Leukemia for a little over two year.
She is
survived by her young son, Andrew Scott Costanzo and her husband, Joseph Scott
Costanzo of Alabama; her mother, Jean Craig and her step-father, Jay Craig of
Blairsville, and her half-brothers and sister, Jacob S. Craig IV, Joshua Scott
Craig, and Jessica Sarai Craig of Blairsville; her step-sister, Jennifer Stuart
Craig-Dickinson and family of Massachusetts; her maternal grandparents, Louise
Henry-Herin and Fred E. Henry, Sr., of Florida; her maternal uncles and aunts,
Franklin T. Henry and wife Marty Beth of North Carolina, Fred E. Henry, Jr., of
Florida, and Joanne Louise Henry of Pennsylvania; her birth father, Harvey Earl
Huston III of Idaho, and his relatives, and many, many, many friend. A very special friend in Courtney’s last months
is Cheryl Bowman, who was Courtney’s nurse, true friend, and sister in Christ,
who gave selflessly and whole heartedly of her time and love.
Courtney
lived most of her life in Blairsville, Georgia.
She traveled to several countries as a missionary with Teen Missions,
and she touched many lives with her strength of faith in Jesus Christ, in whom
she now resides for Eternity.
A
graveside ceremony arranged by her birth father and conducted by her maternal
grandfather was scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at 2 pm at Bellview
Baptist Church, Saufley Field Road, Pensecola, Florida.
In lieu
of flowers, the Craig family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society, 2625 Cumberland Parkway, Suite 205, Atlanta, Georgia 30339,
designated, please, to the memory of Courtney Ann Craig.

Mr.
Garnett Columbus Rich, age 92, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday,
January 27, 2001, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Born in
Union County, GA, on Monday, December 14, 1908, a son of the late Robert Rich
and Martha Flowers Rich. He had lived in
Blairsville for most of his life. A
grandson, Barry Davis, passed away in 1999.
Survivors
include his wife, Geno Hughes Rich, of Blairsville; Son, Eugene Rich, of
Blairsville; Daughters: Exola Gates, Leola Lyons, and Evaline Burkart, all of
Marietta; and Sue Caudill, of Kennesaw; a sister, Maggie McClure, of
Blairsville: Eleven grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren, and four great
great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, January 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating. Special music was presented by The Faith
Singers. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Larue Rich, Eddie Rich,
Tim Rich, Matt Caudill, David Burns, and Eddie Rich, Jr. The following gentlemen served as honorary
escort to the family: Ronnie Caudill, Frank Burkart, Tony Rich, Ernie Sistrnk,
Shannon Caudill, and John Harris.
Interment was in Antioch Baptist church Cemetery.
