Mr.
Harold Trently, age 77, of the Young Harris Hwy., Blairsville, passed away on
Wednesday, February 21, 2001 in the Emory Hospital In Atlanta following an
extended illness. Mr. Trently was born
on January 17, 1923 in Garland, TX, the son of the late Jim S. Trently and the
late Ellen Dover Trently. Mr. Trently
was retired with J. L. Frederick Co. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garland, TX.
Surviving
Mr. Trently are one daughter, Judy Langster, of Fort Worth, TX; two sons, Jimmy
Trently and Jack Trently, both of Freer, TX; nine grandchildren, three great
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials ay be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr.
Trently’s Memory.

Mr.
Thomas F. Clarkson, age 76, of Blairsville, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away
Saturday, February 24, at his home. Mr.
Clarkson had been a part time resident of this area for the past 28 years. He was a retired pilot for National/Pan Am
Airlines and a member of the Airline Pilots Association. Mr. Clarkson was a veteran of WWII where he
was a pilot for the Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the St. Joaquim Catholic
Church in Miami.
Survivors
include his wife, Carolyn Clarkson of the home; daughter, Laurie Wenkle of
Brasstown, NC; and 2 grandchildren, Kyra and Bryan Wenkle. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives
also survive.
Memorial
services are scheduled for Thursday, Mary 1, 2001 at 11 a.m. from the St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Mr. Reid
G. Jones, age 72, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 19,
2001 in North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia.
Mr. Jones
was born in Union County, Georgia on Wednesday, July 25, 1928, a son of the
late Minal Ibie Jones and Frances Rhodes Jones.
He was a retired employee of the Tennessee Copper Company. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of this
area and was a member of Church of God Youngcane.
Survivors
include his wife, Mrs. Bertha Bright Jones, of Blairsville; two daughters,
Glenda Davis and Wanda Ann Jones, both of Blairsville; a son, Eland Jones, of
Dalton, Georgia; two brothers, Carl Jones and Avery Jones, both of Blairsville;
and a sister, Cleo Taylor, of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Darren Jones,
Stephen Dangler, Brit Jones, and Cassandra Young; four great grandchildren,
Hunter Young, Catherine Dangler, Winston Dangler, and Hannah Dangler. Many friends and other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 2 pm from the chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Randolph Jones
officiating. Special music was presented
by Brit Jones. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: Randolph Jones,
Bobby Bright, Hank Jones, Lonnie Jones, Gary Jones and Benny Jones. Interment was in Liberty Hill Methodist
Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Chester Ford Burns, age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
February 18th in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mr. Burns
was born in Union County, Georgia, on Tuesday, April 15, 1919, a son of the
late John Burns and Radie Foster Burns.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had lived in this area all of his
life. He was a member and deacon of Mt.
Zion Baptist Church, member and Past Master of Dooley Masonic Lodge #367
F&AM, member and Past Patron of Notla Chapter #471 O.E.S. He was also a member of the D.A.V. Mr. Burns had been preceded in death by three
brothers: William P. Burns, Thomas H. Burns, and Herbert L. Burns; and a
sister, Frankie Holliday.
Survivors
include his wife, Mrs. Amaryllis Little Burns, of the home; brother, Hansel L.
Burns of Atascadero, California; and brother, Henry Dale Burns of
Lawrenceville, Georgia; many friends and other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at 2 pm from the chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Bethel Buchanan and Rev. Jimmy
Rogers officiating. Special music was
presented by Martha and Julie Davenport and Steve Kimsey. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church
Cemetery. The following gentlemen
(nephews of Mr. Burns) served as pallbearers: Jeffrey Burns, Douglas Burns,
Larry Burns, Ricky Holliday, Shaun Williams, and Wayne Register. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, the family
has suggested memorial contributions be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church
Cemetery Fund in care of Billy Poteete, 5916 Murphy Hwy. Blairsville, GA 30512.

Mrs.
Laura Ann Snow, age 20, of Union County, GA. passed away Wednesday, February
21, 2001, in Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, from injuries she sustained in
an automobile accident.
Mrs. Snow
was born Friday, May 28, 1971, in Towns County, GA. She was employed as a cashier locally. Mrs. Snow was a member of Gum Log Baptist
Church.
Survivors
include her husband, Henry, of Blairsville; her daughters: Louella Hunter,
Ivalee Hunter, and Brook Snow, all of Blairsville; her father, J.D. Garrett of
Hiawassee and her mother, Charlotte Murphy, of Blairsville; and brothers:
Justice Garrett, Joshua Garrett, and James Garrett, all of Hiawassee; maternal
grandfather, Joe Phillips, of Blairsville; many friends and other relatives
also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, February 24, 2001, at 2 p.m., from Gum Log Baptist
Church, with Rev. Claude Thomas and Rev. Willis Garrett officiating. Special music was presented by The Faith
Singers. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Troy Phillips, Jr., Dean
Garrett, Jeffrey Carroll, Billy Schmitz, Adam Mashburn, and Raymond
Ledbetter. Interment was in Ebenezer
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Bart
Keall, age 84, of Blairsville, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2001 in the
Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. Mr. Keall was born on January 28, 1917 in
Tampa, Florida, the son of the late Oliver Keall and the late Bertha Thompson
Keall. Mr. Keall was a retired
engineer. He was a member of the Temple
Baptist Church in Tampa. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Maggie Keall in 1996.
Surviving
Mr. Keall are two daughters, Janice Miller of Young Harris and Deborah Henson
of St. Petersburg, FL; three sons, James Keall of Jacksonville, FL, Michael
Keall Offort Stockton, TX, Ray and Robert Keall both of Tampa; one sister, Inez
Dickerson of Tampa; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 2 pm from the Temple
Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Jenkins and the Rev. Bob Cook officiating
special music was presented by Linda Drake and Melanie Richards. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Dennis Keall, Tim Bradley,
Robert Keall, Charles Edwards, Ryan Fortenberry and Patrick Keall. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
