MRS. eva lou smith driskell

 

Mrs. Eva Lou Smith Driskell, age 82, of Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Driskell was born on Aug. 20, 1918 in Enid, OK, the daughter of the late Lewis Terhune Smith and the late Nelle Evalyn McEwen.  She was a Commercial Artist.  Mrs. Driskell was a member of the Central Christian Church in Enid, OK.  She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Bruce Driskell and her husband, Leland Don Driskell.

Surviving Mrs. Driskell are one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jane Driskell of Blairsville; two grandchildren: Timmothey and Michael Driskell; two great grandchildren: Dustin and Kaitlyn Driskell; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services will be held in the Enid cemetery in Enid, OK at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn., the Diabetes Assn. or to the American Cancer Society, in Mrs. Driskell’s memory.

mr. harry eric schroeder

 

Mr. Harry Eric Schroeder, age 90, of High Meadows Rd., Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Schroeder was born on Dec. 20, 1910, in Kotopol Russia, the son of the late Edward Schroeder and the late Augistine Sass Schroeder.  Mr. Schroeder was a retired accountant, a WW II veteran and was a member of the All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church of Blairsville.

Surviving Mr. Schroeder are his loving wife of fifty-five years, Josephine Marek Schroeder of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Timmothy and Leah Schroeder of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dale Visgar of Big Bend, WI; one brother and sister-in-law, Waldemar and Libby Schroeder of New Berlin, WI.; one grandchild, Leilani Schroeder, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Services for Mr. Schroeder will be held on Saturday, Mary 10, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles Houska officiating.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the  family requests that memorials be made to the All Saints Lutheran Church of Blairsville in Mr. Schroeder’s memory.

mr. jim partain

 

Mr. Jim Partain, age 71, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2001 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following a sudden illness.

Mr. Partain was born in Walton County, Georgia, on Tuesday, January 14, 1930, a son of Maudie Davis Partain and the late Clarence D. Partain.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Partain was formerly of Norcross, Georgia, and had lived part-time in Blairsville for the past 25 years, and full time for the past 3 years.  He was an elder and Sunday School teacher in the Presbyterian Church for the past 25 years.  Mr. Partain was a charter member of North DeKalb Exchange Club, and was also a charter member of the Peachtree Section Mercedes Benz Club of North America.  He was a product engineer, and had held various patents, and a member of IHOPP.  Mr. Partain had retired from Stone Container in 1993, after 43 years in the packaging business.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Brown Partain, of Blairsville; his mother, Maudie Davis Partain, of Thompson, Georgia; sons and daughters-in-law, J. Michael and Maria Partain of Columbus, SC and Ronald L. and Carrie Partain, of Bethlehem, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Royce and Patricia Partain of Marietta, GA and Veryln and Alice Partain of Thompson, GA; granddaughters, Leigh Partain of Rochester, NY, Chelsea Partain, Sarah Kenny, both of Columbia, SC; Holly and Casey Partain, both of Bethlehem, GA and grandson, Alex Kenny of Columbia, SC; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Marcy 3, 2001 at 11 am from First United Methodist Church of Union County with Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  Special music was presented by Martha Cone, Jeff Bauman and Cindy DeFoor.   The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Larry Simpson, Tim Todd, Lark Bragg, Hal Brown, Sam Gibson, and Tim Partain.  Interment was in Trackrock Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family suggests, that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Union County, Organ Fund, 859 Hwy 515, Blairsville, GA 30512.
