Dr.
Marlyne Adams Jacobs passed away in Montgomery, AL on Thursday, March
8, 2001,
following an extended illness. Dr.
Jacobs was born in Union County and had graduated Union Co. High school
in the
fifties. She was the daughter of the
late Homer Ellis and the late Pauline Chapman Ellis.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and
one brother and also her beloved son, Brian Adams and his father, Larry
Adams.
Surviving
Dr. Jacobs are her loving husband, Linn Jacobs of Montgomery, AL, five
sisters:
Dorothy Parris of Dahlonega, GA, Annette Odom of Kingston, GA, Shirley
Kalb of
Marietta, GA, Sue Page of Stockbridge, GA, and Maurine Ellis; three
brothers:
James Ellis of Linton, IN, Garnett Ellis of Forest Park, GA, and Ronnie
Ellis
of Barnesville, GA; aunt, Selma Chapman of Acworth; niece, Dell Balew
of
IN; many other relatives and friends
also survive.
Graveside
services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2001 from the Thomas
Chapel
Cemetery in Blairsville with the Rev. page officiating.
In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family

Dr.

mrs. bonnie alexander phillips
Mrs.
Bonnie Alexander Phillips, age 97, of the Old Blue Ridge Hwy.,
Blairsville
passed away on Friday, April 6, 2001 in the Union General Hospital
following an
extended illness. Mrs. Phillips was born
on Jan. 22, 1904 in Towns County, the daughter of the late William
Alexander
and the late Mae Norton Alexander. She
was a member of the Old Brasstown Baptist Church in Young Harris. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her
husband, Bob Phillips; one daughter-in-law, Ella Phillips; three
sisters,
Georgia Hall, Clairene Alexander, and Irene Martin all of Young Harris.
Surviving
Mrs. Phillips are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jack Phillips
of
Blairsville, Don and Betty Phillips of Dalton, Pat and Susie Phillips
of
Blairsville, and Troy and Ella Phillips of Dalton, GA; one sister,
Willie Mae
Puett of Hiawassee; eight grandchildren, Donny, Ivan, Robby, and Drew
Phillips,
Patty Aukerman, Kathy Stubblefield, Sheila Mullins, Shelly Hopkins and
Alen
Franks; fourteen great grandchildren and many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the Old
Brasstown
Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Jerry Helton
officiating. Special music was presented
by the Kelly Trio. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Robby, Drew and Ivan Phillips, Donny
Phillips
Jr., Jon Stubblefield, Woddy Mullins and Greg Hopkins.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Alen
Franks, Joe Reynolds, Chester Puett, W. R. Hall and Rev. Bill Howell. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr.
Michael Clifton Beavers, age 49, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
unexpectedly Friday, April 6, 2001 in Union County, Georgia.
Mr.
Beavers was born Tuesday, April 24, 1951 in Cherokee County, North
Carolina, a
son of the late Claud E. Ralph Beavers and Minnie Greene Beavers. He was an automobile mechanic, and was a
member of Notla Baptist Church.
Surviving
are his fiancé, Jill Brown, of Blairsville; two sons, Stacy Beavers of
Blairsville and Trevor Beavers of Jasper, Georgia; three sisters, Pearl
Beavers
of Murphy, North Carolina, Juanita Murphy of Murphy, North Carolina and
Veda
Kay May, also of Murphy; four brothers, Glenn Beavers, Jerald Beavers
and Lloyd
Beavers, all of Murphy and Roger “Doc” Beavers of Blairsville; friends and other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, April 9, 2001 at 2 pm from Notla Baptist
Church with
Rev. Hoyt Brown officiating. Special
music was presented by The Wilson Family.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jeff Haley, Bryce
Vial,
Bob May, Randy Fowler, Gene Heard, and Dennis McDowell.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
