MR. frank r. stephens

 

Mr. Frank R. Stephens, age 78, of the Gainesville Hwy., Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.Mr. Stephens was born on Sept. 10, 1922 in Union Co., the son of the late Lee E. Stephens and the late Addie Jackson Stephens.He was a native and life long resident of Union County, a WWII veteran in the U.S. Army, and was a member and deacon of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Stephens are his loving wife of fifty years, Della Mae Rich Stephens; two sons and daughters-in-law: Danny and Janet Stephens of Blairsville, Anthony and Mary Ann Stephens of Blairsville; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Leon Wages of Athens, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gene and Anita Stephens of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Bill Stephens of Chamblee, Riley and Dotti Stephens of Blairsville, Henry and Martha Stephens of Dalton, Jack and Libby Stephens of Fairburn, GA; three grandchildren: Robin, Curtis and Drake Stephens, all of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 19, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer, Rev. Willis Garrett and Rev. Wade Plott officiating.Special music was presented by ken Young.The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Junior Duckworth, Tim Bohannon, Scott Lance, Richard Morgan, Johnny Hamby, Jeff Deavers, and Steve Rhoten.Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Ferrell Pendland, Lawson Castille, Harold Crump, Joey Morgan, Leon Davenport and Bob Head.Interment followed in the Harmony Grove Baptist Cemetery.

MR. william clyde ledford

 

Mr. William Clyde Ledford, age 91, of Blairsville, GA. passed away Friday, May 18, 2001, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

He was born in Union County, GA. on Monday, December 13, 1909, a son of the late Rufus Monroe Ledford, and Mary Jarrard Ledford.He was a farmer, and a lifelong resident of Union County.Mr. Ledford had been preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Green, and a brother, Walter Ledford.

Surviving are a nephew and his wife: Clarence R. and Clare Green, of Cartersville, GA; a nephew and his wife, James Edward and Beverly Green, of Marietta; a niece and her husband, Mary Lois and James Lockaby, also of Marietta; other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held Sunday, May 20, 2001, at 3 pm, from Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Troy Acree officiating.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville entrusted with the arrangements.

mr. bryon dwitt hightower

 

Mr. Bryon Dwitt Hightower, age 68, of Trackrock Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Friday evening in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.Mr. Hightower was born on May 9, 1933 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Horne Hightower and the late Ethel Wilson Hightower.At the time of his death, he was employed at Americanís Home Place in Blairsville.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.He and his wife Sandra have been gospel singers and evangelists for over twenty five years.He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Hayesville.

Surviving Mr. Hightower are his loving wife of twenty eight years, Sandra Hightower of Blairsville; two daughters: Tina Anderson of Warner Robins, GA, and Tamilyn Kaetzel of Murphy; three sons: Timothy Hightower of PA, Tony Couch of Blairsville, and Lee Couch of Cummings, GA; one sister: Joyce Hickman of Canada; eleven grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 21, 2001, at 11 a.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harley Hunter officiating.Special music was presented by Ken and Elaine Young.Interment followed in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
