MR. clyde charles mauney, jr.

 

Mr. Clyde Charles Mauney, Jr., age 65, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 in the Atlanta Medical Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Mauney was born on April 29, 1936 in Union County, the son of the late Clyde Mauney Sr. and the late Irene Stephens Mauney.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County, and was a veteran of the US Air Force.  Mr. Mauney was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving Mr. Mauney are his loving wife of twenty two years, Blanche Garland Cabe Mauney of Blairsville; one daughter, April Denny of Lagrange, IN; two sons, Johnny and Richard Mauney, both of Cleveland, Ohio; one step daughter Susan Martin of Cleveland, GA; two step sons Charles Cabe of Alto, GA and John Cabe, Jr of Camano Island, WA; one brother, Thomas C. Mauney of Gulfbreeze, FL; two sisters, Grace Sparks of Akron, Ohio and Caroline Sullivan of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to your favorite charity in Mr. Mauney’s memory.

mrs. helen emeline crandale jensen

 

Mrs. Helen Emeline Crandale Jensen, age 92, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001, in Union County, Georgia.

Mrs. Jensen was a native of Union County, Illinois, and was born on Wednesday, August 26, 1908, a daughter of the late Eugene Crandale and Clara Kelly Crandale.  Mrs. Jensen had moved to the Blairsville area in 1979, coming here from Andrews, North Carolina.  She had previously lived in the state of Nebraska.  Mrs. Jensen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harold Jensen, in November of 2000.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Elsa and Rev. Paul B. Davis, of Porterdale, Georgia; two sisters: Imogene Skinner, of Bradenton, Florida, and Clarabelle Lungwitz, of Evansville, Indiana; three grandchildren: Paul Davis, Jr., of Newnan, GA; Angela and Colby Simmons of Marietta; and Amy and Robert Lester, also of Marietta; four great grandchildren: Andrea Davis of Newnan, Alex Simmons, Anna Lester, and Shane Simmons, all of Marietta; many friends and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at 11 a.m., from First United Methodist Church of Union County, with Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  The body will lie instate at the church on the day of the service at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, in Peachtree, North Carolina.  Visitation at the funeral home will begin on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.  If you wish, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Union County, 859 Hwy. 515, Blairsville, GA 30514,

MR. alec winger

 

Mr. Alec Winger, age 76, of Blairsville, GA. passed away Monday, May 21, 2001, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Winger was a native of Ontario, Canada, and was born Sunday, June 15, 1924, a son of the late Norman Winger and Zelma Ruth Johnson Winger.  He was a retired steam engineer, and had been living in this area since 1990, moving here from Plantation, FL.  Mr. Winger was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, and also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He and his wife were residents of Lakeside Village in Blairsville.  Mr. Winger attended Sharp memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Janet B. Winger, of Blairsville; a daughter, Nancy L. Winger, of Arlington, Massachusetts; four sons: Stewart G. Winger, of Marietta, GA, Craig A. Winger, Ian L. Winger and Scott Douglas Winger, all of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Phillip Winger of Tilsonburg, Ontario; six grandchildren also survive, along with many friends and other relatives.

Memorial services are schedule for Saturday, May 26, 2001, at 3 p.m., from Sharp memorial United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church, Music Department, P. O. Box 66, Young Harris, GA 30582.

MR. Phillip Eugene Mcleroy

 

Mr. Phillip Eugene McLeroy, age 76, of Shope Rd. Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, may 24, 2001 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. McLeroy was born on September 14, 1924 in Walnut Grove, GA, the son of the late Robinson C. McLeroy and the late Lora Harris McLeroy.  He was retired from the Westin Hotel of Atlanta.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. McLeroy are his loving wife of thirty-two years, Sarah Porter McLeroy of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Roger Traugh of Cornelia; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Pat McLeroy of Smyrna; step daughter, Sheila Madison of Tazewell, VA; stepson, Jeff Stacey of New York City, NY; nine grandchildren: Paul Issiac, Elizabeth and Susan Abdinoor, Jay and Jessica Malyon, Chelsey McLeroy, Sarah and Justin Madison, two great grandchildren: Sebastian and John Abdinoor; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Schakat officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Issiac and Paul Abdinoor, Eddie McLeroy, Charles Levine, Tom Delaney and Jay Malyon.  Interment followed in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

MR. quentin q. ivey

 

Mr. Quentin Q. Ivy, age 82, of Blairsville, GA. formerly of Fairburn, GA. passed away Monday, May 20, 2001.

He was a native of Early County , and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Ivey had been a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.  He was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church in Blairsville.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtice, of Blairsville; a step-daughter and her husband, Bobby and Jim Bishop, of Blairsville; sister, Lois Hodges, of Richmond Hill, GA; sister and brother-in-law: Marie and George Parker, of Statesboro, and brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Janet Ivey, of Birmingham, AL; two step grandchildren: Kari Walker, and Cristi Krauskopf also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, may 31, 2001, at 10 a.m. from Coosa United Methodist Church, with Rev. Earl Bishop officiating.  Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta, at 2 p.m., with Rev. David Ogletree in charge of committal.  Visitation at the funeral home will be on Wednesday night, from 7 until 9 p.m.
