mrs. flora arizona smith bright

 

Mrs. Flora Arizona Smith Bright, age 92, of Sandlewood Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Bright was born April 30, 1909 in Hayesville, NC, the daughter of the late Robert P. Smith and the late Liddie Fulcher Smith.  She had lived most of her life in Union Co. and was a member of the Hemptown Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Luther Bright in 1983.

Surviving Mrs. Bright are three daughters and one son-in-law: Bertha Jones of Blairsville, Frances Bright of Blairsville, Billie Sue and Bobby Thomas of Morganton; three sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby and Jolene Bright of Blairsville, Riley and Susie Bright of Warren, NC, Danny and Barbara Bright of Morganton; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randolph Jones officiating.  Special music was presented by Sherry parker and Britt Jones.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Eland Jones, Russell Thomas, Roger Thomas, David Riley Bright, Ricky Thomas and Darren Jones.  Interment followed in the Hemptown Baptist Church cemetery.

lloyd privette

 

Lloyd Privette died Sunday, June 17, 2001.  Graveside services were held Thursday, June 21st at 11 am at Macon Memorial Park with the Reverend Coy Privette officiating.  The family may be contacted at 548 Bristle Cone Drive.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Medical Center of Central Georgia, 858 High Street, Macon, GA 31201.

Mr. Privette was a member of First Baptist Church in Blairsville.  He was awarded a B.A. degree in physics from Appalachian State where he played football for four years.  He graduated from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and received a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee.  Mr. Privette was predeceased by his son, David L. Privette and by three brothers.  He was a member of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Kiwanis Club of Georgia, Macon Tennis Club, the National Air Force Association and AFCEA.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was Chaplain of the Gideons’ of Union County and Corporate Rockwell International Marketing Manager for the Southeastern U.S.  Mr. Privette hiked part of the Appalachian Trail his lifetime dream.

Survivors: wife, Dian Privette of Blairsville, GA; daughters, Pamela Privette McNelis of Bremen, GA, Rebecca Kurtz of Hayward, CA, Carrie Elizabeth Towes of Palm Bay, FL; son, Coy D. Privette of Macon; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brothers, the Reverend Coy Privette of Kannapolis, NC and Robert Privette of Statesville, NC.

Hart’s Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
