Annie Mae Paris Register, age 96, of Sunset Dr., Young Harris, passed away on
Monday, June 25, 2001 in the Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville following an

Fred Register III, and Deidre Gaskill; many other relatives and friends also

Mrs. Mary Ursula Sanders Myers, age
92, of

Mr. Horace Donald
Garrison, age 88, of Lee St., Hayesville passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at
his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Garrison was born on Sept. 20, 1912 in Clay Co., NC, the son of the
late O. L. Garrison and the late Rebecca Ash Garrison. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay
Co., and was a teacher and principle with the Clay Co., School System for
several years. He was a WWII veteran in
the US Navy. He was a sixty year member
of the Clay Masonic Lodge F&AM, and was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Hayesville.
Surviving Mr. Garrison are his
loving wife of sixty years, Ruth Rogers Garrison of Hayesville; one daughter
and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Bootsie) and Gordon Dix of Yorktown, VA; three sons
and two daughters-in-law: Dr. Donald and
Susan Garrison of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Bud and Debbie Garrison of Murphy, and
John Paul Garrison of Hayesville; five grandchildren: Heather Burns, Robert Garrison, Edwin
Garrison, Rebecca Dix and Reuben Dix; one great grandchild, Joshua Burns;
several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on
Thursday, July 5, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in
Hayesville with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Dr. Peter Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the church
cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you
wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Gideons, PO Box
624, Murphy, NC, or the Good Shepherd Hospice, PO Box 465, Hayesville, NC, or
to First United Methodist Church Handbell Choir of Hayesville.

Mrs. Nellie Blon Allen, age 78, of
Hiawassee died on June 30, 2001 after an extended illness. Blon was born October 21, 1922 in Towns
County and lived all her life in Hiawassee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Clay Allen.
Blon was an inspiration to all who
knew her! Not only was she a doting
Mother who celebrated her childrens’ differences, but she was also a pillar of
the local business community, opening the job world to many youth as they made
their way out into the world.
She is survived by her five children
and their spouses: Wallace & Shelby
Allen, John Ross and Janet Allen, Sheila and Glen Eller and William Clay “Bill”
and Trudy Allen, all of Hiawassee and Carol and Stewart Gilbert of Tifton;
grandchildren: Tammy Allen, Jonathan
Allen, Lisa Roberts, Amy Silvey, John Ross Allen II; Great grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on
Sunday, July 1, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of
Hiawassee with Rev. Raburne Wilson officiating.
A Eulogy was provided by her daughter, Rev. Sheila Eller. Music was provided by the Raburne Wilson
Family and Jeanie Pyle. Mrs. Allen’s
grandsons served as her pallbearers.
Interment followed in the Osborn Cemetery.

Mr. Lawrence Seth Turner, age 94, of
McCaysville, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2001. Mr. Lawrence was a retired Black Smith
employed by the Tennessee Copper Company.
He was also a member of the Friendship #3 Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Vaudie Turner of the home: four
sons: John and Donald Turner of
McCaysville, Roddey Turner of Blue Ridge and William Voyles of Ringgold, GA;
one brother: Guy Turner of Blairsville;
one sister: Marie Chambers of Dacula,
GA; a special friend Juanita Price of Mineral Bluff; eight grandchildren;
seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted
Monday, July 2, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue
Ridge with the Rev. Alton Towe officiating.
A Eulogy was given by the Turner Family.
Music was by the grandchildren; the Billy Wayne Chastain Family and the
Friendship Baptist Church Choir.
Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Kenneth Ray Dockery, age 41, of
Cleveland, GA. passed away Saturday June 23, 2001, in Mission Memorial Hospital
in Asheville, NC. from injuries sustained in an automobile accident
Mr. Dockery was born in Union
County, GA. on Sunday, December 6, 1959, a son of the late Lester Dockery and
Othena Dye Dockery. He was the night
manager at Betty’s Country Store in Helen, GA. and also was employed at
Freudenber-Nok in Cleveland, GA.
Surviving are sisters: Wanda Webb, of Copperhill, TN, and Sherry
Dockery, of Blairsville; brothers: Buell
Dockery, Troy Dockery, and Cecil Dockery, all of Blairsville. Tommy Dockery, of Young Harris, GA. Ralph Dockery,
of Morganton, GA. and Marty Dockery, of Apex, NC. Many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
June 26, 2001, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in
Blairsville, with Rev. Mark Porado and Rev. Tony Gilbert officiating. Special
music was presented by L. D. and the Happy Pilgrims, Gregg Moore, and Stevie
Brooks. Serving as pallbearers were the
following gentlemen: Steve Brooks, Scott
Allen, Raburn Mason, Bradley Chastain, Jerry Thomas, and Myron Turner. Interment was in Pine Log Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr. Tom Kehr, age 68, of
Blairsville, GA. passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Sparks Regional Medical
Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Mr. Kehr was born in Montgomery County,
Pennsylvania, on Sunday, May 28, 1933, a son of the late Karl Kehr and Florence
Keyser Kehr. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Air Force, and had been employed by United Airlines as a mechanic for 36
years. Don was a member of the
International Association of Machinists, Lodge, #1487, and was a member of and
deacon of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Surviving are his wife, Marita, of
Blairsville, GA: daughter: Debra Ann
Kehr, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Karl Richard “Rick” and Leslie
Kehr, of Montgomery, AL; brother, Edwin Grant Kehr, of State College,
Pennsylvania; sister: Shirley J. Steinninger, of Oaks, Pennsylvania; and
granddaughter, Amy Patrice Kehr, of Maryville, Tennessee; many other relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held in
Blairsville on Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church of
Blairsville, with Rev. Danny Parris officiating, and the Eulogy by John
Killebrew. Special music was presented
by Minister R. Terry Hooper. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Mike
Calloway, Carlton Brown, Fred Roberts, Roy Bateman, Lewis Jordan, Neal Efird,
and Gib Castle. Serving as honorary
escort to the family were deacons of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and
members of the C. R. Collins Sunday School Class. Funeral services were held in Phoenixville,
Pennsylvania, on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of
Campbell Ennis and Klotzbach Funeral Home, with interment in green Tree
Brethren Church Cemetery in Oaks, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Doyle Williams, age 76, of
Blairsville, GA. passed away Thursday, June 28, 2001, in Union County Nursing
Home in Blairsville.
Mr. Williams was born in Cherokee
County, GA. on Thursday, April 16, 1925, a son of the late Thomas Elmer
Williams and Julia Latham Williams. He
had lived and worked in Albertville, AL for 33 years before moving to
Blairsville in 1998. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church of Albertville, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Elizabeth Bailey Williams.
Surviving are daughter and
son-in-law: Karen and Danny Goyne, of
Blairsville; sister, Essie Turner, of Hiawassee, GA; brothers: Howell and Milton Williams, both of Smyrna,
GA; and grandchildren: Amanda and Joel
Goyne, of Blairsville. Many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
June 30, 2001, at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Blairsville Chapel with
Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Special
music was presented by Minister R. Terry Hooper. Interment was in Marshall Memorial Gardens in
Albertville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers,
